The Rise of the Crypto-Islamists

They’ve launched their first digital currency, which will make their funding even more difficult to trace.

When startup initiative Super Mission launched its own cryptocurrency token earlier this year, it promised to divert enormous sums — drawn from 10 percent fees on all transactions — to nominated charities chosen each week by the “community.”

Objections to Critical Theories Are Not Merely a ‘Right-Wing’ or ‘White’ Phenomenon

Critical theories teach students that the institutions of the West, including and especially America, are systemically oppressive for women, minorities, and other identity groups. These theories push the idea of equity or equal outcomes to adjust for this historical oppression. They divide individuals into identity groups and assume members have similar experiences, characteristics, social roles, and motivations. It seems those being treated the worst these days are individuals the radical left sees as oppressed but who reject the premises of critical theories.

An alternative view about the threat China presents

An alternative view about the threat China presents

Yesterday, I wrote that China is giving every indication that it intends to go on the attack in the Pacific, against Taiwan, and even against America.  However, two things that I read provide a different way of looking at China’s huffing and puffing.  It may not actually be able to blow the world’s house down — although it still wins if the world responds as if China were, in fact, capable of that kind of destruction.

What Happened To You? – The radicalization of the American elite against liberalism

“What happened to you?”

It’s a question I get a lot on Twitter. “When did you become so far right?” “Why have you become a white supremacist, transphobic, misogynistic eugenicist?” Or, of course: “See! I told you who he really was! Just take the hood off, Sully!” It’s trolling, mainly. And it’s a weapon for some in the elite to wield against others in the kind of emotional blackmail spiral that was first pioneered on elite college campuses. But it’s worth answering, a year after I was booted from New York Magazine for my unacceptable politics. Because it seems to me that the dynamic should really be the other way round.

The real question is: what happened to you?

Teach our kids about communism

Conservatives want us to learn about the red menace

One of the more egregious failures on the part of educators on both sides of the Atlantic over the past 50 years has been their omitting to teach several generations of young people about the communist regimes of the 20thcentury. Now I understand that classroom time is limited, and that these days especially it is very important to decolonise Peppa Pig or whatever, but even so.

That the systems that held entire populations captive, and which enslaved and killed millions, and were run by little men who were worshipped as gods, are deemed too trivial to study is really quite remarkable.

Bill Gates gives speech demanding action on climate change to moguls who flew into Sun Valley on private jets

Bill Gates on Friday told his fellow billionaires that more needed to be done to combat climate change during an address at the annual Sun Valley conference in Idaho.

With many of his fellow captains of industry, entertainment and technology having flown in by private jet, Gates told them the problem was real.

The busy private jet traffic on Tuesday saw the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration bring in restrictions on air traffic control, temporarily banning other planes from the country’s West Coast to as far as Michigan and Canada from departing.

Let’s be honest about birthing people

Maybe the right isn’t transphobic, as the left likes to shriek — just pro-woman and pro-reality

Thrusting women who identify as men and then have babies into the spotlight has been a strange priority during the first few months of Biden’s America. Just three days before Mother’s Day, Rep. Cori Bush, a Democrat from Missouri, sent Twitter ablaze while testifying before the Democratic Oversight Committee on some conspiracy theory called the ‘Black [sic] maternal health crisis’. The crisis, it turns out, isn’t that community’s abortion epidemic but the country’s legion of racist OB/GYNs, apparently.

Ted Cruz, Lauren Boebert, Premier of Alberta All Blast Biden’s Appeal to OPEC

If Joe Biden were trying to injure our energy position in relation to the rest of the world, in particular Russia, he couldn’t have done too much more to be destructive than what he’s already done.

We saw how Biden has harmed our energy position by attacking fossil fuels and cutting the Keystone XL Pipeline over climate change, and the green agenda. He’s now being sued over stopping the Pipeline. His explicit goal is for us to pump less, to have less domestic oil production.

San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus Hides ‘We’ll Convert Your Children’ Video After Backlash

The San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus unpublished a music video promising to “convert” children to a “tolerant” pro-LGBT worldview after it went viral Wednesday, thanks to its unabashed repurposing of critics’ rhetoric, playfully declaring: “the gay agenda is here,” “we’ll corrupt your kids,” and “we’re coming for them.”

Progressive Policies Won’t Stop the Crime Wave

With last year’s devastating homicide spike continuing, some proponents of “progressive” criminal-justice reforms are more convinced than ever that they have the right approach. Eric Levitz, writing at New York’s Intelligencer blog, views 2020’s 30 percent year-over-year increase in murder not as a political liability but as yet another reason to support a progressive reform agenda—one that reduces the footprints of incarceration and policing.
