Sensitive equipment being purchased by Global Affairs Canada without consultation with security experts: report

Government security experts aren’t usually consulted by Global Affairs Canada when that department purchases equipment, including sensitive gear needed to protect diplomats and embassies, a procurement review has found.

The September 2020 study was sparked by an article in the National Post about a Chinese firm that had been authorized to provide security equipment to the department. Procurement Canada selected Nuctech, which is closely tied to the Chinese military, for the $6.8 million standing offer that included the delivery, installation, operator training and software for X-ray machines for use at Canadian embassies around the world. The Chinese company was picked over a Canadian firm that had also bid.

Will the Tech ‘Wokeforce’ Be With Us If We Go to War?

Will the Tech ‘Wokeforce’ Be With Us If We Go to War?

When Google-owned YouTube suspended Donald Trump’s ability to post videos last week it joined Facebook and Twitter in blocking the president, and many Trump supporters, from their platforms. Conservatives and others have denounced the moves as censorship. But the decisions by tech companies to refuse service to those they do not approve of – including the president of the United States – also raise concerns about national security.

The Dangerous Boomerang of Political Paranoia

The Dangerous Boomerang of Political Paranoia

Joe Biden will be inaugurated in a climate of fear and loathing.

Wednesday will mark the four-year anniversary of the violent Antifa riots in Washington, D.C., when hundreds of anarchists wreaked havoc in our nation’s capital on Inauguration Day, declaring themselves the #Resistance to President Trump. Our media overlords now expect Americans to forget the Left’s deranged reaction to Hillary Clinton’s 2016 defeat, because this does not fit the current narrative, in which anyone who didn’t vote for Joe Biden is viewed as a potential terrorist threat.

Rex Murphy: The Liberals have performed so well, we should award them a spring election? Really?

Rex Murphy: The Liberals have performed so well, we should award them a spring election? Really?

There are some reasonably eminent people, among whom we may count certain journalists, who have been speculating that Canada may have a spring election.

The line of thinking among these eminences is that Justin Trudeau and his cabinet confrères have performed so well during this year of COVID, lockdowns and economic devastation, that they should be treated to a fuller endorsement than the mere minority gifted them during the past visit to the polls.

The Spectator Launches the Best Defense Against Cancel Culture: Laughing and Pointing

The Spectator Launches the Best Defense Against Cancel Culture: Laughing and Pointing

In the current environment, it is rare to run across a piece of news you thoroughly enjoy. The Spectator provided one. On January 15, they launched Wokeyleaks. In the inaugural post, a user who goes by They/Them—to obscure their identity and take a poke at pronoun culture—exposes the woke hypocrisy of the famous in our midst. Celebrities are often the most woke in our culture, and the behind-the-scenes view is just delicious.

WashPost Columnist Max Boot: Blacklist Fox News ‘as We Do with Foreign Terrorist Groups‘

In a Monday op-ed, the Washington Post called on heavyweight telecommunications corporations to shut down conservative cable news outlets including Fox News, One America News, and Newsmax TV, comparing the need to do so with that of shutting down foreign terrorist influencers.

The essay, penned by prominent Trump critic Max Boot, a Post columnist and CNN global affairs analyst, begins by explaining how merely holding the president accountable for “his role in inciting this violent insurrection” is “insufficient.”

No surprise. The left are everything we said they were.

Police Investigate Improved Bernie Sanders Mural as Hate Crime

The vandalism of a mural of Bernie Sanders in Washington DC that was defaced with a picture of Pepe the Frog is being investigated as a hate crime, police have said.

D.C. police confirmed their investigation into the vandalism of the mural in the Navy Yard area.

They said that it was not clear exactly when the mural was defaced, with a police report listing December 15, 2020 to January 14, 2021 as a possible time period.

I’d say it was an improvement.

State Department Cuts Ties With Alleged Charity Islamic Relief Over Anti-Semitism

The State Department has cut ties with Islamic Relief Worldwide, an international charity that the United States accuses of spreading anti-Semitism. The public accusations represent a wholesale shift in how the United States approaches a global charity that was, until recently, an official partner of the American government and raked in hundreds of thousands in taxpayer dollars.

The State Department is “conducting a full review of the organization and U.S. government funding” due to the “anti-Semitism exhibited repeatedly by IRW’s leadership,” Ellie Cohanim, the deputy special envoy to monitor and combat anti-Semitism, told the Washington Free Beacon.

Egyptian woman arrested for baking ‘indecent’ cakes

A woman in Egypt was briefly detained after being accused of baking “indecent” cakes, local media say.

The cakes, topped with genitalia and underwear fashioned out of fondant icing, were eaten at a birthday party at an exclusive Cairo sports club.

After photographs went viral, the baker was arrested and later released on $319 (£234) bail. There are reports that the partygoers may face legal action too.

QAnon for Democrats? Hillary Clinton & Nancy Pelosi suggest Putin ORDERED Trump to launch Capitol siege in unhinged interview

Democratic bigwigs Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi have called for a probe into Russian President Vladimir Putin’s – real or entirely imagined – role in the Capitol riot, theorizing that he may have personally ordered the unrest.

The House speaker sat down with the failed 2016 presidential candidate for an interview on Clinton’s podcast, ‘You and Me Both,’ on Monday, where they discussed the bout of chaos in Washington, DC earlier this month. At one point during the conversation, Clinton argued that President Donald Trump “has other agendas” – though hastened to add that “I don’t think we yet know” what those are – wondering aloud about “who pulls his strings.”

Nuclear Extortion: Mullahs Want More Concessions from Biden

Nuclear Extortion: Mullahs Want More Concessions from Biden

The Iranian regime received a dangerous and unprecedented level of concessions from the Obama administration for Iran’s 2015 “nuclear deal,” known as the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action) — which, by the way, Tehran never signed. The major concession was that the deal paved the way for Iran legally to become a full-blown nuclear state.

The sunset clauses, which enshrined that commitment, had set a firm expiration date for restricting Iran’s nuclear program. The Obama administration also helped swiftly lift all four rounds of UN sanctions against Iran — sanctions it had taken decades to put in place. Furthermore, Iran’s military sites were exempt from inspection by the International Atomic Energy Agency, and other inspections were only to be at the times and places of Iran’s choosing — if ever. Iran then rejoined the global financial system with full legitimacy — plus billions of dollars flowing into the treasury of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and its expanding militias across the Middle East.

Derek Filderbrandt: Derek Sloan’s exile over $131 from white supremacist doesn’t add up

Derek Filderbrandt: Derek Sloan’s exile over $131 from white supremacist doesn’t add up

Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole’s wants his MPs to kick Derek Sloan out of caucus for accepting a donation to his leadership campaign for $131 from a white supremacist. Whatever one thinks of Sloan, something just doesn’t add up here.

Far-left propaganda website Press Progress said that they have proof that Sloan accepted the donation from a man named Paul Fromm.

It adds up when you understand that the “braintrust” running the CPC are looking to simultaneously rid themselves of what they consider to be the ideological riff-raff of conservatism and ingratiate themselves with Canada’s media. They really think this will work for them. Yes they are that thick. As noted before the CPC is like the pre-Trump Republicans, self-serving careerists looking for their shot at the public teat.

Canada: Police officers refuse questions over one-year-old’s shooting death

Two months after a one-year old boy was killed in a police shooting in rural Ontario, the officers involved have still not spoken to investigators, according to a police watchdog.

Ontario’s special investigations unit (SIU) said that none of the officers who opened fire on a pickup truck on 27 November have agreed to interviews, adding that they had no legal obligation to do so.

“Understandably, there is a pressing public interest in this case, including how the child died and whether it was gunfire from the father or [Ontario police] officers that caused the death,” the SIU said in a statement on Friday, acknowledging growing frustration over delays and criticisms of its opaque investigative process.

Diane Francis: Ottawa’s inept vaccine rollout is now risking lives

There is no puddle that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau misses. So far, there have been three ethics scandals, two blackface revelations and now the COVID cock-up.

Canada has an exemplary health-care system that’s run by the provinces, and Canadians have generally been following the advice of public health officials. But the federal government now risks lives because of its inept vaccines roll-out. Just over one per cent of the country has received at least one dose of the vaccine, placing us behind many other developed countries.
