GUNTER: Interim PBO’s refreshing frankness unlikely to win him full-time job

If you want to know whether the Carney government is serious about trimming the federal budget and being transparent, keep an eye on what happens to Jason Jacques.

Who is Jacques? Is he a senior economist whose advice everyone respects? A cunning investor whose every market move is mimicked by lesser investors? An opposition MP who might cross the floor to the Liberals?

Trump to Meet Islamist 5th Columnist Mamdani

New York’s incoming mayor, Zohran Mamdani, and President Donald Trump plan to meet on Friday at the White House, after months of trading barbs and insults during the city’s recent election.

Mamdani, a 34-year-old Democratic socialist, won New York City’s mayoral race earlier this month, defeating former governor Andrew Cuomo by nine points. While he was little known outside of New York before the election, he has now become a nationally recognised figure.

Government seeks to retroactively change law, potentially avoiding paying veterans over federal error

The Carney government’s budget legislation contains an amendment that lawyers representing veterans say is a bid to cover up a decades-long error that led to overcharging for long-term care.

“Instead of owning up to their error, they are trying to change the rules after the fact,” said Malcolm Ruby, partner at Gowling WLG and co-counsel in a proposed class-action lawsuit seeking damages for an estimated tens of thousands of veterans.

“Retroactively changing legislation is like a thermonuclear weapon that the government has in litigation, that no other litigant has.”

CAIR Paid Students To Vandalize College Campuses

Colleges and universities have used an extremely light touch when punishing students who vandalized, occupied, or even assaulted fellow students on campus. The pro-Hamas protests upended colleges and universities because these entitled brats hated Jews and loved destruction.

For that, few received any punishment at all.

This should go a long way towards the acceptance of Remigration of all Muslims.

Tory MPs denounce DEI and ‘Liberal racism’ during Jamil Jivani event

OTTAWA — On a Tuesday night, on the eighth floor of a building bordering Ottawa’s Parliamentary Precinct, Conservative MP Jamil Jivani stood before a small crowd to denounce “Liberal racism” — a form of “discrimination” he believes is eroding meritocracy, eradicating diversity of thought and tearing Canadians apart.

About 50 people filled the nondescript room, where bottles of Bud Light — a beer branded “woke” by the right in 2023 after partnering with a transgender influencer — were cheekily on offer for attendees.

P.E.I. man faces first terror charges in Atlantic, for allegedly 3D-printing firearms

CHARLOTTETOWN – A man in Prince Edward Island is facing terrorism charges for allegedly making firearms with a 3D printer and uttering threats online against certain individuals and groups, the RCMP announced Wednesday.

The Mounties issued a statement saying 51-year-old Daniel Desmond Crowder had been charged with two terrorism-related offences under the Criminal Code, adding that the case marks the first time this type of charge has been laid in Atlantic Canada.

“The investigation started in February and he was making threats online to people and organizations,” RCMP Cpl. Erique Gasse said in an interview. “With … what we found in his computer … we are comfortable with laying those charges against Mr. Crowder.”

British Deep State Trained to Surveil Anti-Migration Social Media Posts

British civil servants are reportedly being trained on how to monitor and push back against so-called “high-risk narratives” on social media, such as posts opposing the mass migration agenda imposed on the country.

A deep state team within the Cabinet Office, the Government Communications Service (GCS), has been tasked by the government with combating supposed “disinformation” while simultaneously promoting the government line through “counter-narratives” online.

Canada’s instructions to submarine contract bidders highlight ability to float, submerge at least once

Canada’s instructions to submarine contract bidders highlight sustainment, economic benefits

Canada has formally issued firm bidding instructions to the two companies vying to build the navy’s new submarines, CBC News has learned.

The document went out to ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) of Germany and Hanwha Ocean Co. Ltd. of South Korea last week.

James Rourke, an official in the newly established federal Defence Investment Agency, acknowledged the document, which specifically outlines the federal government’s expectations and how the decision will be weighted, was delivered to both qualified bidders.

If they go with the South Korea bid it’s got to include BBQ, and the German bid, lots of strudel and beer.

Ukraine and Europeans rebuke U.S. plan as ‘capitulation’ to Russia

LONDON — European and Ukrainian officials pushed back Thursday against a new plan being proposed by the U.S. administration to end the war in Ukraine, saying that any deal should respect Ukraine’s sovereignty and not involve the country’s “capitulation.”

Kyiv’s main European partners in particular said they should be involved in any proposals for the future security of Ukraine and Europe, and their remarks Thursday suggested they had not been consulted or even briefed on details of Washington’s plan. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has not commented publicly since news of the plan leaked.

Carney government ‘analyzing the results’ of firearms buyback pilot project amid reports of low uptake

OTTAWA—The Liberal government refused Wednesday to say how many banned weapons have been collected in the trial for its contentious gun buyback program, as federal sources and local reports suggest minimal success, raising concerns about how the roughly $750-million scheme will unfold on a national scale.

The Liberals kickstarted the long-delayed program with Cape Breton, N.S. as its testing ground last month, hoping to collect 200 guns and evaluate its system, but the small-scale pilot has been met with pushback and little uptake from frustrated gun owners.

“Democracy Carried to the Grave”: Establishment Removes AfD Deputy Mayor

In North Rhine-Westphalia, the parties that claim to be the protectors of democracy—including the centrist CDU, the left-wing SPD, and the Greens—have ousted a democratically elected deputy mayor from office, simply because she represents the AfD.

Sabine Reinknecht was elected to this post in Bad Salzuflen exactly two weeks ago. This election was reversed today, on November 19th, following a city council meeting that saw the establishment groups team up against Germany’s rising opposition. “Democracy,” she said after the council vote, “was buried here today.”

She was democratically elected, has not done anything wrong but they exercised a clause which allows them to reverse a legitimate election result on a whim.
