Advocates call for reparations for Black Americans

The ‘Why We Can’t Wait’ coalition is calling on President Biden to issue an executive order for a commission to study the legacy of slavery and consider reparations.

They created a visual display outside the White House ahead of Juneteenth, a U.S. holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans.

Lawyers from the National Coalition of Blacks for Reparations in America known as N’COBRA, advocates from Human Rights Watch and other members of the ‘Why We Can’t Wait’ coalition are taking their message right to the President’s home.

The Trudeau government is on a quest for censorship

The government is currently trying to rush new censorship legislation through Parliament at lightning speed. Through Bill C-11, the Trudeau government plans to hand the CRTC the power to control what content Canadians are exposed to online. This includes filtering feeds on popular apps like Netflix, YouTube and TikTok.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, the government is deliberately choosing not to disclose the scope of these new regulatory powers until after the bill becomes law.

Canada’s single-use plastics ban a ‘first step’ in waste reduction. What’s next?

By the end of 2022, Canadian companies will no longer be able to import or make plastic bags, cutlery, takeout containers, ring carriers, stir sticks and straws, barring a few targeted exceptions to recognize specific cases.

The deadline was announced by the federal government on Monday in what Anthony Merante called “very good news” for the environment.

“A plastic bag, a plastic fork, a single-use straw … it only takes one of those plastic items to encounter wildlife … to make that a lethal encounter for them,” said Merante, a plastics campaigner for Oceana Canada.

Redder Pastures

Over the past two years, I have written several articles on issues that (I believe) take Canada in the direction of being a more authoritarian State. The sources for these issues are diverse, from government policy and announcements of policy intentions to public statements by members of the punditocracy / commentariat to widespread public support for certain ideas. In all frankness, I am not the only one who senses this direction of movement (or is it drift?). But I think that enough pieces are now in place for us to take a step back and take a holistic view of what this movement / drift portends for us as a society.

Biden administration may change ‘Hispanic’ from an ethnicity into a race — even though Hispanics are descended from different races

The Biden administration is considering reclassifying Hispanics as a race rather than an ethnicity, even though Hispanics are not, in fact, a distinct race — they can be primarily white, indigenous, or black in ancestry, notes law professor David Bernstein. Most Hispanics are descended partly from Europeans, and descended partly from the native people of the Americas — not from a single race.

Down And Out-For-The-Count: Pictures Of Drug Addicts Passed Out All Over Portland Show How Its Decriminalization Program Has Backfired – With Officials Now Proposing Japanese-Style ‘Coffin Homes’ For The Destitute

Portland’s open-air drug market is laid bare as people smoke heroin on the streets and needles litter the sidewalks as city officials start homeless sweeps while a nearby city’s mayoral candidate ‘wants to round them up and use ‘Japanese-style pods’ to house them.

New photos taken by DailyMail.com show the current situation in Portland, a city that has been plagued with homelessness and addicts openly using drugs in broad daylight. Users were seen injecting themselves, slumping over in a semi-comatose state.

Discarded needles, human waste and the smell of urine adds another layer of tarnish to city’s progressive policies – one of them being the Ballot Measure 110 decision, which has decriminalized hard drugs in the Democrat-run state.
