Austrian bishop hangs banner of nude trans activist over main altar for Lent

The Catholic bishop of Innsbruck, Austria, inaugurated a “Lenten” decoration of the main altar of the historic University church of Saint John Nepomuk, a baroque jewel from the early 18th century. The “decoration” shows an enlarged partial inverted photograph of a naked young man with scars and tattoos lying on a bed and has been placed as an altarpiece above the tabernacle of the former main altar of the church. The piece of contemporary art by Carmen Brucic was specially chosen by Bishop Hermann Glettler, and bears the title: “Tired.”

‘Pope Francis’ – A Wolf in Shepherd’s Clothing?

Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano sheds a disturbing light on the “Deep Church.”

“A non-Catholic Pope”?  It sounds like a contradiction in terms.  But those are the words used to describe Pope Francis by Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano, the former Apostolic Nuncio to the United States.  In fact, he rarely uses the term “Pope Francis.”  He refers to him instead as “Bergoglio” and to his pontificate as the “Bergoglian papacy.”

Vigano has a following in some Catholic circles but it’s likely that the vast majority of Catholics have never heard of him.  Yet the questions he raises about Pope Francis are of great consequence, not just for Catholics but for non-Catholics as well.

German Catholic priests come out as queer, demand reform

The Roman Catholic Church in Germany on Sunday faced renewed calls for better protection of LGBTQ rights and an end to institutional discrimination against queer people.

Around 125 people, including former and current priests, teachers, church administrators and volunteers, identified themselves as gay and queer, asking the church to take into account their demands and do away with “outdated statements of church doctrine” when it comes to sexuality and gender.

Spain’s youngest bishop has been stripped of his church powers, the country’s episcopal conference said on Saturday, after he married a psychologist-turned-author of satanic erotica.

Any cleric attempting to get married, even if only civilly, is subject to suspension, the statement added

Catholic church sexual abuse must be seen in ‘historical’ context, Pope says

Pope Francis has called for caution in the “interpretation” of a damning report released in October that found as many as 330,000 children may have been sexually abused by clergy and lay members of the Catholic Church in France.

The pontiff said on Monday that the “historical situation” must be framed in context when conducting studies that explore incidents dating back decades. The inquiry behind the report, the Independent Commission on Sexual Abuse in the Church (CIASE), examined allegations of sexual abuse of minors in the Catholic church in France from the 1950s to 2020.

St. Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana, opens ‘LGBTQ+ Center’ on campus

The Catechism of the Catholic Church clearly enunciates that, based on Sacred Scripture, “which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,” the Church has consistently instructed the faithful that “homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered.” “Under no circumstances can they be approved.”

French Catholic church expresses ‘shame’ after report finds 330,000 children were abused

The French Catholic church has expressed “shame” and pleaded for forgiveness, after a devastating report found that at least 330,000 children were victims of sexual abuse by clergy and lay members of church institutions over the past 70 years.

The publication of the landmark report on Thursday, France’s first major reckoning with what the Catholic church accepted was “appalling” abuse, has shaken the country with its horrific findings of a “massive phenomenon” of sexual abusers of children operating for decades within the church and its associated institutions.

The two-and-a-half-year independent inquiry found that staggering numbers of children were subjected to sexual violence by priests and clergy while the crimes were covered up in a “systemic way” by a deliberate “veil of silence” in the church.

Investigation estimates up to 3,200 pedophile priests in French Catholic Church since 1950

The head of an independent commission investigating child sexual abuse in the French Catholic church has said about 3,000 paedophiles have operated inside the institution since 1950.

Days before publication of its report, Jean-Marc Sauvé said the commission’s investigations had uncovered between 2,900 and 3,200 paedophile priests or other church members, adding that this was “a minimum estimate”.

Sauvé told Agence-France Presse that the 2,500-page report, based on church, court and police archives as well as interviews with witnesses and due to be published on Tuesday, had tried to quantify both the number of offenders and of victims.

Catholic Church to Ordain Communist-Friendly Bishop to Wuhan

ROME — The Vatican has accepted the nomination of Communist Party loyalist Father Joseph Cui Qingqi as the new bishop of Wuhan, who will be ordained on September 8.

AsiaNews, the official press agency of the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions, reported Sunday that Father Cui was the only candidate put forward by Church bodies loyal to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to occupy the post in Wuhan.

I don’t believe that the details of the Church’s deal with the Chi-Coms has ever been made public.
