The head of public policy for Facebook Canada says it’s no longer sustainable for social media companies to self-police questionable content.

Kevin Chan told a House of Commons committee Friday that’s why his company would welcome regulations that could govern what can’t be posted.

Indeed, the failure to sign such anti-free speech screeds is a precarious choice for many. It is as easy as calling for tolerance through intolerance. The letter, titled “No Book Deals for Traitors,” has more than 250 people in the publishing world urging their colleagues not to let the president or any of his officials have a forum once he’s out of office.
