On April 2, Ontario Premier Doug Ford implemented strict Covid19 lockdown restrictions in Ontario, now referred to colloquially as a shutdown. This government-imposed lockdown has occurred despite increased concerns from some health officials around the world as to the effectiveness of heavy restrictions and inconclusive data that may suggest lockdowns exacerbate the problem and help Covid19 spread. This while simultaneously causing catastrophic economic damage to Ontario and Canada. Ontario is one-third of Canada’s entire economic output.

Premier Doug Ford said it would be “absolutely terrible” if Ontario was forced to go back into lockdown because of the third wave of COVID-19 and that it’s critical people remain cautious and vigilant to protect themselves.

As per usual, patriotic protesters showed up at the Radisson quarantine hotel near the Toronto airport to hopefully shuttle inmates — er, I mean, “guests” — to their homes. Alas, there were no takers on this day.

And so it was that the demonstrators decided on a whim to move their protest five minutes east to the Toronto HQ of Deco Labels, which happens to be owned by none other than Ontario Premier Doug Ford.

With Ontario facing dangerously high rates of COVID-19 that could result in many more deaths, Premier Doug Ford declared a second provincial emergency Tuesday and announced a slate of new restrictions in an effort to bring the virus under control.

Ontario’s latest COVID-19 modelling will project the province’s intensive care units to be filled beyond capacity by early February, and will also show how a new, more contagious variant of the coronavirus risks accelerating the spread of infections, sources tell CBC News.
