Listen To What The Capitol’s ‘Giant Voice’ Alert System Sounds Like When It Goes Into Lockdown

Downtown Washington, D.C. has been turned into a veritable fortress in the wake of the storming of the Capitol building and ahead of President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration this week, as you can read about more in this War Zone piece from yesterday. Tens of thousands of U.S. military personnel, as well as law enforcement officers, are in place and on high alert. We have now gotten a demonstration of the take-absolutely-no-chances security posture in place in the city after a nearby fire triggered a brief lockdown at the Capitol, complete with loudspeakers blaring a message directing people to shelter in place or otherwise seek cover due to an “external security threat.”

Big Plans: Team Biden sets out ambitious policy package for first 10 days in office

Joe Biden, who spent months hunkered down in his basement due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is rested and raring to go.

The president-elect takes office at noon on Wednesday, and he’s already got a slew of actions he plans to take on the first days, and in the days that follow.

Ron Klain, who will serve as Biden’s White House chief of staff, wrote in a memo released Saturday that Biden will focus on “the COVID-19 crisis, the resulting economic crisis, the climate crisis, and a racial equity crisis.”

Hey, remember when Trump’s Executive Orders were labelled ‘bypassing democracy’?

Military Buildup In D.C. Makes No Sense, Unless They Know Something We Don’t

You don’t need 25,000 armed National Guard troops to protect an inauguration, and you certainly don’t need that and more to protect a mostly virtual inauguration.

The riot at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, likely could have been contained and people kept out of the building with a couple hundred more riot police, or maybe a few hundred.

The failure to have any semblance of adequate security, despite apparent FBI warnings of possible trouble, is one of the baffling aspects of that day. It’s why the Chief of the Capitol Police has resigned, and there needs to be a thorough investigation of how the Mayor of D.C. and others rejected requests for additional help.

Yet what is happening in D.C. now looks more like a military defensive posture than riot control or even an attempt to defend against small groups planning violence.

Federal prisons on lockdown in run-up to Biden inauguration

All federal prisons in the United States have been placed on lockdown, with officials aiming to quell any potential violence that could arise behind bars as law enforcement prepares for potentially violent protests across the country in the run-up to President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration on Wednesday.

The lockdown at more than 120 federal Bureau of Prisons facilities took effect at 12 a.m. Saturday, according to an email to employees from the president of the union representing federal correctional officers.

“In light of current events occurring around the country, and out of an abundance of caution, the decision has been made to secure all institutions,” the Bureau of Prisons said in a statement.

Biden plans to offer pathway to citizenship to 11 million illegal immigrants in early days of Presidency

According to new report from the Los Angeles Times, President-elect Joe Biden plans to offer a pathway to citizenship to 11 million illegal immigrants in his early days of his Presidency.

The LA Times cited un-named immigrant rights activists in communication with the Biden-Harris transition team.

Per the report “the bill also would provide a shorter pathway to citizenship for hundreds of thousands of people with temporary protected status and beneficiaries of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals who were brought to the U.S. as children, and probably also for certain front-line essential workers, vast numbers of whom are immigrants.”

Boogaloo Boys ‘will continue’ their armed rally in DC on Sunday despite 15,000 National Guard troops

The Boogaloo Boys movement has said it is moving ahead with armed rallies in D.C. and at all 50 state capitols on Sunday despite the National Guard being called in across the country.

Fringe website associated with the anti-government movement continue to encourage members to come armed at their ‘personal discretion’

It comes amid fears of further violence following the January 6 riot on the U.S. captiol by a pro-Trump mob that lead to the five deaths, with ten states deploying their National Guard to deal with the potential threat.

Biden COVID-19 relief plan is a Trojan horse for a sweeping liberal agenda

President-elect Joe Biden just unveiled his proposal for a $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief package. Democrats insist it is targeted to respond to the crisis and only full of “commonsense” measures and much-needed emergency spending.

Yet, even a cursory glance at the specifics of the package reveals that it’s a Trojan horse for a sweeping liberal agenda that Biden could never otherwise get passed.
