The real reason straight people aren’t going to see Bros

Billy Eichner is repellant

Something happened in American society between the release of Bros last weekend and 2018, when Bohemian Rhapsody, the biopic of gay, HIV-positive Queen front man Freddie Mercury, grossed $900 million at the box office. Comedian Billy Eichner’s gay romcom barely eked out a pathetic $4.8 million on opening night, around the same amount that Ellen “Elliot” Page spent on flannel shirts and Groucho Marx glasses last year. Why the disparity in box office takings? Well, American moviegoers became deeply homophobic.

Trevor Noah got lost in a sea of Jon Stewart wannabes

Trevor Noah’s announcement last week that he would be stepping down after seven years on The Daily Show was met with about the same level of attention as when he was announced as host. It trended on Twitter briefly, and then everyone went about their day.

Noah never really caught on with the same media outlets that regularly juiced Jon Stewart, blaring about how he “Destroyed” and “Obliterated” things. There are several reasons why this was the case. One was that Stewart, for all his clown-nose-on-clown-nose-off theatrics, was still a capable and interesting interviewer. He was genuinely curious about his guests and didn’t seem like he was just asking questions handed to him on a notecard. Noah, a traditional stand-up comic, was never able to harness that same ability. He ended up fading into the background of a medium that has been now saturated by late-night hosts copying Jon Stewart (John Oliver, Seth Myers, Stephen Colbert, Samantha Bee).

‘Straight people’ to blame for LGBT film Bros’s dismal box-office debut says so called “Star”

Actor and screenwriter Billy Eichner is upset after Bros underperformed in its opening box-office weekend, saying, “Straight people, especially in certain parts of the country, just didn’t show up.”

In its debut weekend, Bros came in at No. 4, grossing $4.8 million despite opening on 3,350 screens — three spots behind Paramount’s Smile, which also debuted and grossed $22 million.

Same crap was thrown when Brokeback molehill was released. They keep telling us that Gays etc are 10% of the population. If that were true and even half attended then Brokeback 2.0 would be a huge success.

LA restricts water flow to wasteful celebrity mansions: ‘No matter how rich, we’ll treat you the same’

Los Angeles is living through a historic drought, but that hasn’t stopped some of its most famous residents from keeping their mega mansion lawns and ornate gardens well watered. In response, local authorities have turned to a surprisingly simple trick for keeping the wealthiest in check.

That solution is a tiny metal disc known as a “flow restrictor”. The restrictor can be installed in minutes over the pipes of chronic wasters, dramatically slowing down a home’s water flow.

Nolte: Woke ‘Bros‘ Delivers Another Weekend Box Office Bust

For those wondering how the box office could get any worse than September, which was the worst September in 25 years, I have an answer for you: how about the first weekend of October?

The woketards at TheWrap assured us Bros, an R-rated, homosexual romantic comedy released in 3,350 theaters, would — and I quote — “Kick Off Box Office Revival.”

Why would anyone think that?

Nolte: Woke Movies Drive September Box Office to Lowest in 25 Years

Thanks to a slate of off-putting, woketard movies, September’s box office is the lowest since 1997.

“With just $275 million grossed in North America to date, this will be the first September since 1997 with a monthly total of less than $350 million, reports the far-left TheWrap. “To date, the running total for September 2022 is 20% behind last year’s pace and 52% behind the pace set this month in 2019.”

Alec Baldwin faces charges for Rust shooting: Sante Fe prosecutor says she’s ‘ready’ to file charges against FOUR people

New Mexico prosecutors have indicated they may charge Alec Baldwin over the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of his movie Rust last year, after the actor handed over his cellphone to be considered as evidence.

In a letter to the state’s financial board, asking for funding to prosecute the high profile case, Santa Fe District Attorney District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies said she was ‘ready’ to file charges against four people.

She stopped short of confirming the charges she planned to bring, but said was ‘certainly looking all the homicide statutes and any gun statutes under New Mexico criminal code’.

Sundance Liked Her Documentary on Terrorism, Until Muslim Critics Didn’t

The film festival gave Meg Smaker’s “Jihad Rehab” a coveted spot in its 2022 lineup, but apologized after an outcry over her race and her approach.

Meg Smaker felt exhilarated last November. After 16 months filming inside a Saudi rehabilitation center for accused terrorists, she learned that her documentary “Jihad Rehab” was invited to the 2022 Sundance Festival, one of the most prestigious showcases in the world.

Film critics warned that conservatives might bridle at these human portraits, but reviews after the festival’s screening were strong.

“The absence of absolutes is what’s most enriching,” The Guardian stated, adding, “This is a movie for intelligent people looking to have their preconceived notions challenged.” Variety wrote:

The film “feels like a miracle and an interrogative act of defiance.”

But attacks would come from the left, not the right. Arab and Muslim filmmakers and their white supporters accused Ms. Smaker of Islamophobia and American propaganda. Some suggested her race was disqualifying, a white woman who presumed to tell the story of Arab men.

Link fixed.

Hollywood’s New Blacklist

The show-business trade press became politicized sometime during the Obama administration, around the release of the guilt machines Precious and 12 Years a Slave. I learned this from personal experience of how liberal self-righteousness overpowered fairness, yet I must point to a recent instance of straightforward reporting by trade media: On July 28, Variety detailed the news of an industry-wide pro-abortion stance, but the article stopped short of saying that this is Hollywood’s most authoritarian gesture since its infamous 1950s anti-Communist blacklist.

Polanski to stand trial in France for defaming sexual abuse accuser

Veteran Franco-Polish filmmaker Roman Polanski has been ordered to stand trial in France over his alleged defamation of a British actress who accused him of sexual abuse, a source close to the case said Wednesday.

The Paris court order did not specify a trial date for Polanski, 89, who was charged in October last year. He has faced a series of sex assault claims during his career, though never previously has he stood trial in France over them.
