Elon Musk says Twitter deal ‘temporarily on hold’

LONDON (AP) — Elon Musksaid Friday that his planned $44 billion purchase of Twitter is “temporarily on hold” pending details on spam and fake accounts on the social media platform, another twist amid signs of internal turmoil over the proposed acquisition.

In a tweet, the Tesla billionaire linked to a Reuters story from May 2 citing a financial filing from Twitter that estimated false or spam accounts made up fewer than 5% of the company’s “monetizable daily active users” in the first quarter.

Only 5% Fake Accounts? Doubtful.

Now the FTC Is Going After Musk Over Twitter

How much do the political elites hate freedom of speech?

How much do the political elites hate the freedom of speech? Enough to pull out all the stops to prevent self-professed “free speech absolutist” Elon Musk from taking over Twitter. Now the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is stepping in to “review” Musk’s purchase of Twitter, looking into whether or not the takeover violates antitrust laws.

It’s OK to incite violence on Twitter — as long as it’s against the right

In the wake of an unprecedented leak from the Supreme Court of a draft opinion overturning Roe v. Wade, national Democrats have taken to social media appearing to encourage violence. Earlier this week, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot issued a tweet calling on “friends in the LGBTQ+ community” to recognize this moment as “a call to arms,” stating in a second tweet that “we will not surrender our rights without a fight.”

Multiple verified Twitter accounts, including a senior correspondent at Vox, have tweeted calls to “burn it down,” referring to both the country and the Supreme Court itself.

Elon Musk says he would reverse Trump’s Twitter ban

Elon Musk says he would reverse Twitter’s permanent ban on former President Donald Trump if the Tesla and SpaceX chief executive’s $44 billion bid to buy the social media company is approved.

“I would reverse the ‘permaban,’” Musk said in a live interview with the Financial Times on Tuesday.

Trump was permanently suspended by Twitter, as well as by Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat, for what the companies described as his role in inciting violence during the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

US judge dismisses Trump lawsuit challenging his Twitter ban

A US judge has dismissed a lawsuit brought by Donald Trump challenging his Twitter ban after his account was permanently suspended in the wake of the Capitol riots last year.

The former US president had filed a request for a preliminary injunction against the social media company, and attempted to argue Twitter was “coerced” by members of the US Congress to suspend the account, which had tens of millions of followers.

Woke FTC To ‘Investigate’ And Possibly Freeze Elon Musk Purchase Of Twitter On Anti-trust Grounds

Is there any corner of our government bureaucracy that isn’t overrun with woke, partisan operatives seeking to enact their political agendas? I think we all know the answer to that, and the latest example comes via the FTC moving to “investigate” Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter on…anti-trust grounds?

This comes after Democrats and their media allies have spent the last few weeks absolutely losing their minds over the fact that conservatives might have a single platform that doesn’t bias their policies against them.

Elon Musk asks: Who is funding organizations pressuring Twitter advertisers to stop?

There is an coordinated organized effort in play by George Soros, Clinton and Obama staffers and European governments to pressure advertisers to stop advertising on Twitter. The reason, of course, is because it will soon be under the control of Elon Musk if the deal is officially completed. Leftists are so nervous about voices other than their own being given free reign on the social media platform that they are trying to suppress the support of advertisers on Twitter.

Elon Musk secures $7bn in outside funding for Twitter takeover

Elon Musk has secured $7.14bn (£5.7bn) in funding for his $44bn takeover of Twitter from a group of investors that includes the Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, the crypto exchange Binance, and the asset management firms Fidelity, Brookfield and Sequoia Capital.

The Saudi Arabian investor Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, who had initially opposed the buyout, also agreed to roll his $1.89bn stake into the deal rather than cashing out, the filing on Thursday showed.

The move comes as Musk’s margin loan was reduced to $6.25bn from $12.5bn announced earlier, according to the filing. Musk’s $21bn financing commitment was also revised to $27.25bn.

George Soros, Clinton and Obama staffers and European governments are behind anti-Musk campaign to force big corporations to boycott Twitter

Some of the most high-profile liberal figures have joined together to encourage advertisers to boycott Twitter if Elon Musk brings in his promised policy of unfettered ‘free speech.’

Twenty six NGOs and advocacy groups signed a letter expressing concern about the world’s richest man’s plan.

Musk himself responded to the letter asking who funded them: the answer being an assortment of ‘dark money groups’ like George Soros’s Open Society Foundation; NGOs founded by former Clinton and Obama administration staffers; wealthy Democrat donors and their family foundations; labor unions; and the governments of European nations.

Plot Twist: Atlantic Writer Says Elon Musk Is ‘Right That Twitter Should Follow the First Amendment’

It’s a cold day in hell when a leftist outlet like The Atlantic admits free speech online is actually a good thing.

Atlantic contributing writer Jeffrey Rosen published a May 2 piece praising Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s view of Twitter and free speech: “Elon Musk Is Right That Twitter Should Follow the First Amendment.”

The Hypocrisy in Condemning Musk’s Purchase of Twitter

The hard left is going absolutely crazy over Elon Musk’s decision to buy Twitter. One of their arguments, made loudly by former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich, is that no one person should own and control such an important media platform. But that argument, repeated by others, is totally phony and hypocritical. Imagine if George Soros had bought Twitter? Reich would be jumping up and down with joy, as would Musk’s other critics. I don’t recall the outcry when Jeff Bezos bought the Washington Post, the most influential newspaper in our nation’s capital. To the contrary, Bezos was applauded for bringing a more liberal perspective to that newspaper.

Many of the most important media in the country have long been owned and controlled by individuals or close-knit families. So don’t believe what Reich and others say about why they are opposed to Musk’s purchase.

Twitter Insiders Fear Elon Musk Heralds a Troll Takeover

At a Twitter company meeting Monday about the decision to accept Elon Musk’s $44 billion acquisition offer, CEO Parag Agrawal avoided speculating on how its new owner might change the platform. For one employee watching, Musk’s public comments had already made the likely consequences clear: Twitter appeared poised to loosen content moderation, making it a less welcoming place for both users and advertisers.
