We need to destroy the environment for mass immigration says Doug Ford

Doug Ford says housing on protected Greenbelt needed due to rising immigration

Ontario Premier Doug Ford is justifying his proposal to remove land from the environmentally protected Greenbelt in order to build homes by saying the housing crisis has worsened and will become more dire because of increased immigration.

Ford says he welcomes a recent federal government announcement that it is seeking to boost immigration levels, bringing in 500,000 people in 2025.

But, he says, if hundreds of thousands of additional newcomers a year start arriving in Ontario, there isn’t going to be anywhere to house them.

The left should love him.

Ottawa ̷P̷e̷o̷p̷l̷e̷’̷s̷ Left Wing Cranks Commission hears of anger, frustration at ‘Freedom Convoy’

If one thing is evident from the Ottawa People’s Commission on the convoy occupation, it’s that many residents are still angry and concerned, and some still suffering, over the “Freedom Convoy’s” takeover of the city’s downtown core last winter.

On Saturday, the commission held its seventh public hearing, and third in-person, since hosting its first just over six weeks ago. Five speakers spoke at the Jack Purcell Community Centre, where about 30 people gathered to watch and listen. The hearing, which was hosted by commissioners Alex Neve, an adjunct professor in international human rights at uOttawa and Dalhousie University, and author and human rights activist Monia Mazigh, will be broadcast on the commission’s YouTube channel next week.

Musk Purchase Of Twitter Just Keeps Getting Better! No Bullshit Trudeau Government Ads!

Federal government advised to pause Twitter ads after mass layoffs at company

A media and marketing agency that is responsible for buying and planning much of the government’s advertising has advised federal departments to pause activity on Twitter, citing mass layoffs at the company.

Cossette, which is the government’s “media agency of record,” issued guidance Friday to “pause activity immediately and monitor the situation over the weekend” due to “unknown continuity plans for moderation” and a “heightened risk of brand safety,” according to an internal document seen by CBC News.

The “heightened risk of brand safety.” Yea right.

Guardianista horrified by what he finds on Truth Social!

Inside the unhinged midterm election conspiracy theories on Truth Social

Ballot boxes being stuffed. “BlueAnon”. Men in underpants. Every Democratic candidate: a “complete weirdo psychopath”.

To dive into Truth Social, Donald Trump’s Twitter-but-for-conspiracy-theorists social media platform, is to enter a world where all of the above are real topics of debate, breathlessly discussed by Trump-backing Republicans and anonymous rightwing provocateurs.

Truth Social has always been a platform for lies and obfuscations; about the 2020 election, the Democratic party, vaccines, Hunter Biden. But with less than a week before the election, the platform and its users have become even more unhinged.

GUNTER: The iron-y in what government deems are weapons

Remember how Canadians were told last winter by several Liberal cabinet ministers that the Emergencies Act was necessary to clear out the Freedom Convoy because the truckers blockading downtown Ottawa were “armed?”

Well, it turns out that was true only because Ottawa police were using a ridiculously broad definition of “weapons.”

Rob Reiner: GOP Willing to ‘Literally Kill‘ to Get Power — This Could Be Our Last Election

Actor and Director Rob Reiner said Friday on MSNBC’s “The ReidOut” that Republicans are willing to “literally kill” to get power.

Anchor Joy Reid said, “I think about the things the Republicans are willing to say things you would think would make them impossible for them to win. Mike Lee going in bragging to a bunch of donors he wanted to pull up security root and branch and get rid of it. He got some applause for it. You have a guy in North Carolina who wants to have rape panels where women have to go before they can get an abortion. You think about this stuff, you think they should not be close. What do you make of the fact that despite saying some of the most outrageous things?”

Rahim Mohamed: Patrick Brown’s uncommon political skills a missed opportunity for Poilievre

In politics, as in life, it is generally a good practice to keep one’s friends close and one’s enemies even closer. On the heels of the recent municipal elections in Ontario, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre likely wishes he took this piece of received wisdom to heart.

In one of the few highlights from an otherwise sleepy night (nearly two-thirds of eligible voters stayed home), Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown was comfortably re-elected to a second term in office, cruising past runner-up Nikki Kaur by a two-to-one margin, even though Kaur enlisted high-profile strategist Nick Kouvalis to help guide her campaign. (Kouvalis, one of the most feared backroom operatives in all of Canada, once boasted about his ability to end “politicians’ careers.”)

This is an insane piece. About the only thing Brown’s victory has shown is that Brampton is a shithole and Canada’s 1st Tower Hamlets.

Fiasco: Anti-Defamation League in Hot Water After Botched Attempt To Partner With Anti-Semite Kyrie Irving

NBA star Kyrie Irving left the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) with egg on its face after the group pledged to partner with Irving and his team, the Brooklyn Nets, to steer a $1 million donation to Jewish organizations following Irving promotion of an anti-Semitic documentary. Then, on Thursday, Irving said that — actually — he had nothing to apologize for.

Now, the ADL is backtracking, with CEO Jonathan Greenblatt pledging not to take any money from Irving but saying he is nonetheless willing to “engage in a process of healing and learning” with the unapologetic anti-Semite.
