Before She Won SAG Honor, Jane Fonda Honored Jim Jones

Until she apologizes for championing a kidnapper, rapist, and murderer, her calls for woke “community” should fall on deaf ears.

“Make no mistake: empathy is not weak or woke,” Jane Fonda explained upon accepting a Lifetime Achievement award from the Screen Actors Guild this weekend. “And, by the way, woke just means you give a damn about other people.”

The 87-year-old actress told fellow members of her guild, “Community means power.”

She learned this, or did not, the hard way half a lifetime ago.

Without Europeans, Europe Has No Future

Pro-natalist policies are necessary, but not enough: a culture that has come to believe that individual happiness is its highest goal is one that is on its way to extinction.

The global population crisis—that is, the sharply declining birth rate, which has hit nearly every country on earth, absent (for now) those in sub-Saharan Africa—is perhaps the greatest threat facing civilization. But it’s the one few people want to talk about.

Well, that’s not quite true. In Europe, where birth rates have been below replacement levels for many years, political leaders have no choice but to talk about it. The problem is that most of them only want to say, and hear, one thing: that mass migration from more fertile countries is the only possible solution.

Ford vows to lower alcohol prices after playing dress-up at Sikh temple

Ford vows to lower alcohol prices after pandering at Sikh temple

Ontario Progressive Conservative leader Doug Ford has been busy attempting to appeal to all demographics ahead of Thursday’s election, from his go-to cheap alcohol campaign to worshiping at a Sikh temple.

Premier Ford on January 28 called a snap election, stating at the time he believed he would gain an even stronger mandate to square off with President Donald Trump in an imminent trade war.

Liberal leadership candidates in English debate tonight

Liberal leadership candidates in English debate tonight

It finally ended, that was not a debate but two hours of trying to avoid mentioning anything that might bring attention to the horrific Liberal Party record.

Nothing to commend.

The four candidates campaigning to become the next Liberal leader and prime minister will square off on a Montreal stage again tonight for the last time before members cast their ballots.

Liberals top Tories for 1st time in years, new Ipsos polling says

Poll shows Freeland a close second on first ballot in Liberal leadership race

MONTREAL — A new poll suggests that while former central banker Mark Carney is still the odds-on favourite to win the Liberal leadership, he isn’t likely to win on the first ballot.

A Mainstreet Research survey shows Carney with a solid lead among registered Liberals — and former finance minister Chrystia Freeland coming in second.

The poll suggests 43 per cent of Liberal supporters would vote for Carney on the first ballot, while 31 per cent would choose Freeland.

Maddow and Olberman: MSNBC Is Hotbed of White Supremacism

Conservatives have been saying for years that MSNBC platforms some of the most racist people in the Pravda Media–and until recently, the market for racism has been booming. So much so that the demand for racism exceeded the supply.

You know it’s bad when you agree with Cenk.

Preston Manning: The Liberals’ disingenuous deathbed conversion in the face of Trump tariff

Why does it take a tariff threat from the president of the United States to force Canada to stop the trafficking of illegal migrants and drugs across our borders? Why does it take a tariff threat to force Canada to get serious about eliminating inter-provincial trade barriers and building pipelines? Why does it take prodding from the U.S. to get Canada to think more seriously about strengthening its military and addressing the urgent need for Arctic security? And most importantly, why on earth should Canadians allow the policies of a U.S. president to define who should be their next prime minster?

Canada accuses Indian businessman of foreign interference, disinformation

A south Edmonton split-level with a brick facade and a spruce out front is the unlikely Canadian headquarters of the Indian conglomerate the Srivastava Group.

Run by a New Delhi family, the company claims to have offices in Belgium, Switzerland and Canada, where it owns newspaper and oil and gas businesses.

But Canadian national security officials have alleged the Srivastava Group and its senior executive have also been involved in more secretive activities.

How China Uses Fellow Travelers To Exploit The West’s Climate Anxiety

In the fight against climate change, China loves to present itself as the world’s White Knight. Armed with wind turbines and solar panels, EVs and batteries, it will rescue us from oblivion if only we would let it.

There’s no shortage of western politicians, academics and organisations who are happy to go along with the idea that China is an ally in the global green revolution. The argument, broadly put, is that whatever our differences on other things (trifles such as security, economics and human rights), surely we can agree on saving the planet.

The Right Is Changing Cancel Culture’s Rules

For the past decade, the political Right has lamented “cancel culture.” The idea was that the Left unfairly stoked race and gender hysteria to restrict the terms of debate and to cast anyone deemed in violation of the mandated terms into a state of social annihilation. Teenagers who sang along with rap songs have been denied entry into college. Political figures who failed to use the latest euphemisms found themselves cast into the void.

Now, with the second Trump administration, the rules of social annihilation are seemingly being rewritten in real time. The presidential appointments of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Pete Hegseth might have been derailed, or not even attempted, in Trump’s first presidency. Yet, despite the salacious accusations against the two nominees, Senate Republicans held firm and confirmed both men.

White House official pushes to axe Canada from Five Eyes intelligence group

A top White House official has proposed expelling Canada from the Five Eyes intelligence-sharing network as Donald Trump increases pressure on the country he talks about turning into the 51st US state.

Peter Navarro, one of the US president’s closest advisers, is pushing for the US to remove Canada from the Five Eyes — which also includes the UK, Australia and New Zealand — according to people familiar with his efforts inside the administration.

The Trump Revolution in the Middle East Has Just Begun

February 4, 2025, the White House, Washington, DC. President Donald J. Trump is at a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Trump says that Hamas must be eliminated, and that “the US will take over the Gaza Strip”, dismantle “all of the dangerous unexploded bombs”, “get rid of the destroyed buildings” and “create an economic development”. He adds that Gaza’s Arabs should go to other countries and “be able to live in comfort and peace”.

Netanyahu seems happy and moved. Trump, he says, is “the greatest friend Israel has ever had in the White House” and details every act Trump did to help Israel during his first term.

The TDSB is set to condemn swaths of Canadian history at exactly the wrong moment

I haven’t checked, but I wonder if someone forgot to change the calendar on the wall of the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) headquarters. Over there it still seems to be 2021 or 2022.

Back then it was all the rage to rename schools, streets, public squares, even whole universities, to erase the names of problematic historical figures. Statues came toppling down or were covered up, all the better to hide the images of men (almost always men) whose legacy we now find unacceptable. Dundas, Ryerson, Macdonald — names once honoured in the land were blackened.
