JD Vance Knows That Catholic Charities Has Lost Its Soul

The truth is that the border crisis itself has threatened the very fabric of our society. The Catholic Charities and US Bishops should acknowledge this.

Faithful Catholics have been saddened by the allegations — most recently suggested by Vice President JD Vance — that their Church has been complicit in creating the humanitarian crisis at the border. Vance pointed out that the Catholic Church has received over $100 million to help resettle illegal immigrants. Much of that money has been spent on providing transportation and housing for newly arrived illegal immigrants and helping to resettle them from the border to the interior of the country.

This collaboration with the Democratic Party continues today as the federal government pays for most of the activities of Catholic Charities.

Conrad Black: Let’s De-Escalate Trump’s Tariffs Insofar as Canada Is Concerned

Associating America’s northern neighbor with the conduct of China and Mexico is an outrage.

President Trump has not, as the Wall Street Journal claimed on Saturday, unleashed “the Dumbest Trade War in History;” at least not in respect of Mexico and Communist China. It may, though, be in contention for that honor in respect of Canada. In holding Mexico and China, as the president claims, “accountable to their promises of ending illegal immigration and stopping the flow of deadly fentanyl and other drugs into our country,” the steps he is taking are justifiable.

They have abused Mexico’s status in the tripartite North American Free Trade Agreement, and have effectively facilitated an invasion of destitute people across the southern border of the United States while also being complicit in the illegal entry into America of a large number of dangerous criminals and a horrifying quantity of lethal narcotics. The offenses that Mexico and China have inflicted on the United States are substantially economic and this justifies strong economic counter-measures against Mexico and China.

But …

And now the latest from Andrew Coyne …

Trump Must Designate the Muslim Brotherhood a Foreign Terrorist Organization, Scale Down US Ties to Qatar

If US President Donald Trump is really serious about making a positive impact on the Middle East, a good place for him to start would be to designate the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood movement as a terrorist organisation and scale down Washington’s ties with the Gulf state of Qatar.

Since he won re-election, there has been much speculation that Trump, architect of the ground-breaking Abraham Accords, intends to use his second term in office to negotiate a wide-ranging peace deal aimed at bringing lasting stability to the Middle East.

Jim Acosta and the Collapse of the ‘Mainstream Media’

The 2024 election sent serious shock waves through the badly named “mainstream media.” The American mainstream has rejected the Democrat media establishment, finding them untrustworthy to “save democracy.” It’s more like arrogantly manipulating democracy. They through every rock and every kitchen sink at Donald Trump, and they lost. Is it time to say goodbye?

‘We’re hurting’: GTA parents and community groups call for action over missing Black boys

After vanishing without a trace for close to 10 months, a 15-year-old boy was safely found by police and returned home to his Ajax parents last week.

Just days before, his father Clayton gave an impassioned speech to a Black-led community meeting at a North York church, about what he said was the authorities’ indifference to an increasing number of families who have been urging police to help find their missing children.

… Toronto police field roughly 10,000 missing person calls each year. In many such cases, Patterson said, someone is “either running away from something, or they’re running to something,” and uncovering those factors is key to where police start their search.

Gang recruitment is a significant factor.

Air traffic control staffing was “not normal” at the time of a mid-air collision between a military helicopter and passenger plane in Washington, DC that killed 67 people, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has acknowledged.

One air traffic control worker was managing helicopters and some planes from the airport, a job normally done by two people, two sources told CBS News, the BBC’s US news partner.

New York Times Shock Poll Reveals the Complete Collapse of Democratic Party

It happens a lot: You’ll hear about a new movie or TV show with a really cool, totally original premise, but alas, the writers and actors fumbled the football in the execution. The first few minutes are promising, but you quickly realize that the script’s premise far exceeded the participants’ talents.

The Real Reason Trump Wants Canada: Lies and Dark Ties to China

“There are very deep concerns that Canada is being used by China in a very sophisticated economic and truly criminal way,” says Samuel Cooper, an investigative journalist and bestselling author of Willful Blindness. In this exclusive interview with Daniela Cambone, Cooper reveals the truth behind why President Donald Trump targets Canada in his recent tariff rhetoric. He explains that it’s not a tactic to get Canada to renegotiate the trade deal with the U.S., but rather to curb the massive illegal fentanyl trade originating from Canada. “China ships the precursors to the West Coast of Mexico and the West Coast of Canada… so Vancouver is used as a hub for these precursors,” he says. He also details how elite Chinese politicians involve Canada in illegal money laundering, while Canadian politicians turn a blind eye to it. Watch this interview for this bombshell revelation!

Global trade war will be ‘worth the pain’ to make America great again, says Trump

Donald Trump has said that his global trade war will be worth the “pain” as it will create a “golden age of America”.

The US President admitted that imposing sweeping tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China could lead to economic hardship for households, but it would be “worth the price that must be paid” – promising that the results would be “spectacular”.

GOLDSTEIN: Why we can’t trust the Liberal reversal on carbon taxes

The reason the federal Liberals can never be trusted on the carbon tax is that even as they seemingly abandon it, they refuse to admit they were wrong to introduce it.

Instead of apologizing to Canadians for their half-baked, poorly explained policy that divided the country, while they insulted anyone who opposed it as wanting to let the planet burn, the Liberals even now refuse to accept responsibility for what they did.

No one is listening to the left anymore. This is why

… In one particularly striking example, the night before the election, Harris put on a baffling and endless rally in Philadelphia. Long before she finally made it on stage, near midnight, thousands of her most ardent supporters were openly booing her warm-up acts.

I wrote at the time that one self-defeating rally probably didn’t mean that much in the grander scheme of a presidential election. Two months on, I’m less and less sure that’s the case. I tend to see that night now as a sign of a much larger malaise, not just in the Harris campaign, but in progressivism more broadly. Put simply, progressives don’t seem to have any idea how to perform politics in our current, socially mangled age.

I love the smell of defeated progressives in the morning. It smells like victory.
