Most Canadians want Parliament recalled, but split on why: poll

OTTAWA — Most Canadians want Canada’s prorogued Parliament recalled, but for different reasons.

That’s according to new polling released Thursday by Angus Reid, suggesting that 77% of respondents want to see Prime Minister Justin Trudeau reverse his Jan. 6 decision to prorogue Parliament — 47% of those want the House recalled so opposition parties can immediately trigger an election, while 30% say they’d like to see Parliament recalled, but only if the parties agree ‘not’ to topple the government.

Trudeau and Jaggy will do their best to deny Canadians an election.

‘DEI cost me job at FAA, a crash was inevitable’

An aspiring air traffic controller who claims he was denied a job because of diversity targets said the aviation agency’s obsession with inclusion made an accident likely to happen.

Andrew Brigida, 35, scored 100 per cent in his training exam but claims he was denied a position in an air traffic control tower because the recruitment process of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) favoured diverse candidates.

He is part of a class action lawsuit filed against the federal agency.

Hollywoke: The Motion Picture Academy of Bigotry

Our 2024 Reagan film received widespread acclaim from moviegoers (albeit not from ideologically motivated critics) for the roles rendered by several key actors. They included Dennis Quaid as Reagan, David Henrie as young Reagan, Penelope Ann Miller as Nancy Reagan, Jon Voight as Viktor the KGB agent, and Mark Moses as Bill Clark, just for starters. Quaid pulled off an astonishing feat that film enthusiasts and Reaganites alike thought difficult to impossible. He managed to capture the Gipper in a way that didn’t come off as a caricature, as corny, as almost a parody. Many feared that no actor would be able to do that. But Quaid did it.

Dennis Quaid was terrific as Ronald Reagan.

Hamas Deal Puts U.S. Boots on the Ground

American soldiers are headed to Gaza.

They’re not there to fight Islamic terrorists, but to secure the disastrous Biden deal that saved Hamas by monitoring and inspecting the Gazans traveling across the “Netzarim corridor.”

One of the companies is UG Solutions, founded by a former Special Forces veteran, which hires US military vets to provide security. Hiring veterans as contractors became a common practice during the War on Terror because it allowed politicians to avoid accountability for US casualties.

Donald Trump is driving a wedge between Canada and the United States. Could we join the EU?

Canada is on the other end of the Atlantic — but that still might not stop it from becoming the 28th member state of the European Union, some experts believe.

As U.S. President Donald Trump‘s talk of tariffs and annexation continues to sour U.S.-Canada relations, some — including, reportedly, Germany’s former foreign minister Sigmar Gabriel — have floated the idea of Canada joining the EU.

FCC Chair Brendan Carr Opens Up Probe of NPR/PBS Advertising, or ‘Underwriting’

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr opened up a probe of NPR and PBS Thursday over their airing of commercial announcements. The New York Times warned of a “politicized” debate over public broadcasting. They don’t want any debate. To suggest it tilts left “politicizes” it. But somehow, to tilt left is….not politicizing things? Apparently, liberal bias is the desirable norm. Anything the disrupts it is “politicized.”

Booze, oil and orange juice: How Canada could fight Trump tariffs

Canada has been weighing its options in response to a threat of tariffs from US President Donald Trump.

Trump has said he could levy a 25% tariff on Canadian imports as soon as Saturday.

Tariffs are a central part of the economic vision of the returning US president. He sees them as a way of growing the US economy, protecting jobs and raising tax revenue.

Economists suggest that such a move could have devastating immediate impacts on Canada’s economy – while also leading to higher prices for Americans.

Freeland says Canada should target Elon Musk’s Tesla in a tariff fight

OTTAWA — Liberal leadership hopeful Chrystia Freeland says Canada should target Teslas and U.S. alcohol as part of its tariff retaliation package should U.S. President Donald Trump made good on his trade threats.

In an interview with The Canadian Press, Freeland says there should be a 100 per cent tariff on all U.S. wine, beer and spirits, and on all Teslas — and make sure Wisconsin dairy farmers feel the pinch as well.

Trump’s press secretary says report of March 1 tariffs ‘false’; Canadian source says no word

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt says reporting indicating U.S. President Donald Trump intends to delay imposing tariffs on Canada until March 1 is “false.”

“I was just with the president in the Oval Office, and I can confirm that tomorrow, the Feb. 1 deadline that President Trump put into place… continues,” she said.

“The president will be implementing tomorrow a 25 per cent tariff on Mexico, 25 per cent tariffs on Canada, and a 10 per cent tariff on China for the illegal fentanyl that they have sourced and allowed to distribute into our country which has killed tens of millions of Americans. These are promises made and promises kept by the president.”
