Indian prime minister scolds Trudeau over Sikh protests

TORONTO – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed strong concerns about protests in Canada against India to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on the sidelines of the G20 summit in New Delhi, according a statement by India.

New Delhi has been long sensitive to Sikh protesters in Canada. In June, India criticized Canada for allowing a float in a parade depicting the 1984 assassination of Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by her bodyguards, perceived to be glorification of violence by Sikh separatists.

Secret service agent who witnessed JFK’s assassination casts doubt on ‘magic bullet’ theory

Paul Landis breaks his silence after six decades and says he heard two extra shots during the 1963 attack in Dallas

A secret service agent who was just feet away from John F Kennedy when he was assassinated claims he found the “magic bullet” but it got misplaced, in a curious intervention that raises questions about a second shooter.

Paul Landis who was standing on the running board of the car behind the president, also said he heard two extra shots during the 1963 Dallas attack.

Mr Landis, who never testified to the commission into the assassination, said he picked up the bullet from the back seat of the car where JFK had been sitting, and placed it on the president’s stretcher for investigators to examine.

CHARLEBOIS: Pay less for food at the dollar store

In an era where the cost of living continually surges, the pursuit of affordable groceries has evolved into a financial battleground for many Canadians.

Recent investigations by intrepid reporters in Quebec and Ontario have uncovered a revelation that may surprise some: dollar stores, most notably Dollarama, provide identical non-perishable products to regular grocery stores but at significantly lower prices, often falling within the 30% to 75% range.

Virginia Gov. Youngkin pardons dad who erupted over high school ‘coverup’ of daughter’s sex assault

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced Sunday he pardoned a dad who angrily protested a Loudoun County school’s handling of his daughter’s sexual assault.

Scott Smith, a plumber who erupted at a rowdy school board meeting on June 22, 2021 — reportedly unleashing a storm of profanities — was arrested and subsequently convicted of disorderly conduct.

“I spoke with Mr. Smith on Friday, and I had the privilege of telling Mr. Smith that I will pardon him, and we did that on Friday,” Youngkin told “Fox News Sunday.”

J.D. Tuccille: The injustice of jailing Jan. 6 rioters for 20 years

The only thing that gets prosecutors angrier than challenging the authority of the government for which they work is then insisting on your right to a jury trial.

That’s how members of the “western chauvinist” Proud Boys, and leader Enrique Tarrio in particular, ended up with sentences suitable for murderers after their participation in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

A U.S.-based Sikh group is rallying the diaspora in B.C. to vote for an independent state in India

U.S.-based group Sikhs for Justice is mobilizing members of its diaspora to vote in what it describes as a referendum, including one scheduled in Surrey, B.C., on Sunday to create an independent Sikh homeland in northern India called Khalistan.

The vote has been on a world tour since 2021 with more events planned to tap into separatist sentiments in the Sikh diaspora.

Organizers have conducted votes in London, Melbourne, Rome, Geneva and in Ontario, which attracted thousands of people in Brampton last year, and thousands in Mississauga this July. The group’s ultimate goal is to hold a vote in Punjab in 2025.

No, the Press Is Not ‘Tougher’ on Biden Than He ‘Deserves’

President Joe Biden had an uncharacteristically self-aware moment in 2022.

As we learn from Franklin Foer, an Atlantic staff writer whose new book is The Last Politician: Inside Joe Biden’s White House and the Struggle for America’s Future, the moment came not long after the president casually endorsed regime change in Russia. During a speech in Poland, Biden remarked that, “for God’s sake, [Putin] cannot remain in power.” The White House was swift to walk back the unscripted comment, much to Biden’s reported chagrin.

Gun rights group sues New Mexico governor over emergency firearm ban

A pro-gun group is suing the New Mexico governor, Michelle Lujan Grisham, in an effort to block a 30-day emergency order suspending the right to carry firearms in public in Albuquerque’s Bernalillo county issued last week after a spate of shootings.

The governor announced open and concealed carry restrictions on Friday in a public health order relating to gun violence after the fatal shootings of an 11-year-old boy on his way home from a minor league baseball game last week, as well as the fatal shooting of a four-year-old girl in her bed in a motor home and a 13-year-old girl in Taos county in August.

Who’d have thought it? Soldiers are Right-wing

The new James Bond may be progressive, but the army certainly isn’t

Charlie Higson’s new Bond novel On His Majesty’s Secret Service provoked incredulity and scorn last week, for depicting Bond as a kimchi-eating Centrist Dad and the villain as the Ukipper-on-steroids “Aethelstan”. This in turn prompted a flurry of debate about whether a woke Bond is plausible. Meanwhile, reports this week of a PTSD camp for veterans seemingly operated by the real-world “Aethelstan” offer a tantalising counterargument.

The FBI massively erred about civilians stopping active shooters

I’m one of those who believes that what stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. Sometimes, that good guy is a police officer, and sometimes, the good guy is a civilian. Leftists claim that the good guys’ contribution is so inconsequential that it doesn’t justify honoring citizens’ Second Amendment to keep and bear arms. New Mexico governor Michelle Grisham certainly agrees with that viewpoint. Leftists look to FBI statistics to support their arguments—so will you be surprised to learn that the FBI’s statistics are wrong? And, as always, that the error works to support leftist ideology and political positions?

Director Is Baffled After Reporter Asks Why No Diversity in Film About 18th Century Denmark

Mads Mikkelsen has enjoyed a stellar career in film, appearing as an actor in such films as “King Arthur,” “Casino Royale,” and most recently, the Indiana Jones film “Dial of Destiny.”

Mikkelsen’s latest project is “The Promised Land,” set in 1750 Denmark. In the film, Mikkelsen plays Ludvig von Khalen, a soldier who “arrives in 1755 on the barren Jutland heath with a single goal: to follow the king’s call to cultivate the land and thereby achieve wealth and honor himself,” according to its IMDb synopsis.

Needless to say, there aren’t many Spanish speakers, Asians, or Native Americans in the film. In 1750, Denmark was populated by white, Nordic Europeans. Except that in the film, there is a single black woman who is a victim of racism. This fact apparently went over the head of one unnamed Danish reporter.

I want to see someone make a Hitler biography with a totally racialized cast.
