Chicago‘s Steppenwolf Theatre Company Announces Layoffs as Audience Craters — Leaders Embraced DEI, Trans Pronouns

Chicago’s famed Steppenwolf Theatre Company is the latest major performing arts institution to report plummeting ticket sales and layoffs, with more than ten percent of employees set to lose their jobs. Leaders are blaming soaring operating costs due to inflation and a slower-than-expected “post-pandemic” economy.

2nd Afghan Canadian sues feds, claiming fleeing Ukrainians treated better

The federal government is asking a judge to combine two separate lawsuits, after another Afghan Canadian alleged Canada discriminated against Afghan refugees by treating them differently than they did Ukrainians fleeing the Russian invasion.

A former Canadian language and culture adviser who served NATO in Afghanistan filed a lawsuit at the end of July alleging the government has not allowed his family in Afghanistan to seek refuge in Canada.

How many thousands of interpreters or other local staff did the CAF and other Canadian organizations really employ or actually need in Afghanistan?

It seems every single soldier must have had at least a half dozen of them and we left in 2014.

This is beginning to look like post WW II France when suddenly even the collaboraters were all secret resistance fighters.

Did someone have a “School for Interpreters” scam going?

It must still be in operation.

Ulez: 171 reports of vandalised cameras logged by Met Police in two weeks

There have been 171 reports of crimes relating to Ulez cameras logged since 17 August, the Met Police has said.

The BBC previously revealed that more than 300 cameras had been vandalised between April and mid-August.

The actual number of cameras affected is likely to be even higher as one report can represent attacks on multiple cameras.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan’s Ultra Low Emission Zone expanded across all of the capital’s boroughs on 29 August.

It’s a good bet Chairman Chow will implement a similar tin pot tyranny.

As we see with Trudeau if a policy amounts to nothing more than virtue signaling without actual benefit but hurts the poor then double down.

Cory Morgan: It’s Time to Start Excavating the Kamloops Residential School Site

In May 2021, the world was shocked when it was reported ground penetrating radar (GPR) had identified as many as 200 possible grave sites at the site of the former Kamloops Indian Residential School in B.C. Protests and memorials erupted across Canada. The flag was kept at half mast for over six months while a new national holiday was created to recognize damage caused by residential schools. Dozens of churches were burned, and Pope Francis came to Canada to personally apologize for the schools.

Since then, all further investigation of the Kamloops site appears to have inexplicably halted.

Elon Musk reveals Twitter takeover driven by hatred of ‘woke mind virus that infected trans daughter’

Elon Musk was driven to take over Twitter after fearing his transgender daughter had been infected with a “woke mind virus” incubated on the social media platform.

Mr Musk had initially rushed to embrace the news when Jenna, formally known as Xavier, transitioned at age 16.

But when she later cut him out of her life entirely, he knew he had a fight on his hands, a battle which would eventually culminate in the world’s richest man buying Twitter for $44 billion.

Kherson at centre of Ukraine battle to repel Russians

It was just after dawn on the Kherson delta when the Ukrainian armoured personal carrier began subjecting Russian positions to a barrage of fire with its mounted cannon. A torrent of high-explosive tracer rounds pulsed across the Dnipro river, shattering the early morning calm. Moments later, further down the dusty riverside road, a Ukrainian heavy machine gunner opened covering fire.

The surprise attack continued for a few minutes, the sound of a blast echoing somewhere in Russian-held territory before the Ukrainian special operation forces sped back towards their base. The Russians did not return fire. “There’s nothing up there,” said Serhiy, as he monitored the skies for drones on a hand-held electronic device.

Why Russian tanks are falling short of their Western counterparts

The three main attributes of the tank are firepower protection and mobility.

The Russians very much focus on firepower and mobility whereas Western tanks favour protection, that is physical protection of the crew. A lot of us who’ve been looking at this closely, we’re very interested in data coming out of Ukraine this week that of the 71 Leopard 2 German tanks that have been operating right at the front, in Ukraine, only five have been destroyed and no tank crew have been killed, which is quite phenomenal.

‘Life or death’: LGBTQ2 people warn on dangers of school pronoun policy changes

As debate continues over policies requiring parental consent for youth under 16 to change their name or preferred pronouns in some schools, members of Canada’s LGBTQ2 community say such legislation could put some at risk of abuse, harassment or even homelessness.

The concerns come as Saskatchewan and New Brunswick recently put in place such laws.

Mom of 4 slams ‘oblivious’ AOC sharing inflation ‘propaganda’ clip — and ignoring how American families are struggling

A mother of four struggling to keep money in the bank accused lawmakers of being “oblivious” to how much high inflation is affecting families across the country.

Amber Bergeron of Louisiana pointed her ire at Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) in particular on Friday for sharing a clip declaring that inflation is just “propaganda” — seemingly refuting a recent study revealing that 61% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck.

“I’m just wondering how she thinks it’s propaganda. I mean, has she checked her electric bill? Has she looked at the cost of groceries compared to last year?” Bergeron said on “Fox & Friends First.“

Canadians work almost as much as Americans, yet produce far less. Why?

… It is one of the great mysteries of the Canadian economy. Given our exceptionally close business ties with the U.S., including more than three decades of free trade, it’s surprising we haven’t closed the gap. Among the most likely explanations is that Canadian businesses invest less in research and development, new equipment and new technologies – all things that boost output per worker. The Canadian market is also less competitive than in the U.S. or the European Union. This puts less pressure on businesses to invest in raising output per worker.

But Canada has somewhat reduced the output gap with the U.S., and closed most of the gap with Western Europe. How? By working more.

Report finds pandemic fuelled an explosion in public sector jobs

Public sector jobs in Canada since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic have grown at a rate more than three times as fast as those in the private sector, including the self-employed, according to a new study by the Fraser Institute.

No secret there, they tend to be concentrated in urban centres like Toronto and Ottawa traditional Liberal Party strongholds. The LPC is just shoring up the vote.

Online News Act could see Google, Meta pay combined $230 million to Canadian media … REJECTED

The federal government has put a price tag on how much it would like to see Google and Facebook spend under legislation that requires the tech giants to compensate media companies for Canadian journalism.

Federal officials estimate Google would need to offer $172 million and Facebook $62 million in annual compensation to satisfy criteria they’re proposing be used to give exemptions under the Online News Act, a bill passed over the summer that will force tech companies to broker deals with media companies whose work they link to or repurpose.
