What a man freed from a 241-year prison sentence finds strangest of all

When Bobby Bostic was released from prison in November, 27 years into a 241-year sentence, lots of things seemed strange.

From wireless earphones (“Why are dudes talking to themselves?”), to people talking to their speaker (“I’m like, what is Alexis?”), to self-service drink machines (“You wave your hand and the water comes out?”), the world is much changed, compared to December 1995.

But strangest of all were the people.

“It’s how friendly they are, compared to prison,” the 44-year-old says. “You go into a grocery store, and it’s ‘Sir, can I help you?’ In prison, you got nothing but mean mugs [faces] and harassment…”

Biden Administration Pushing Arabs Towards Iran

Many Arabs and Muslims are celebrating the Saudi-Iranian agreement to restore diplomatic relations as a devastating blow to the Biden Administration, a victory for Iran and China, and a sign of Washington’s failed policies in the Middle East.

According to these Arabs and Muslims, the Saudi-Iranian pact is the direct result of the Biden Administration’s antagonism towards America’s traditional Arab allies, especially Saudi Arabia, and the American policy of appeasement towards the mullahs in Iran.

Just in case you’re not celebrating diversity enthusiastically enough yet, here is more reason to start waving those diversity pom-poms: a new bill in Massachusetts would give Muslims privileged status. Here we see it yet again: “diversity, equity and inclusion” efforts are inherently and in always and every case a gateway to the preferential treatment of the Left’s favored groups.

Hundreds arrested as French protests continue after government survives no-confidence vote

Hundreds of people were arrested across France after sporadic protests broke out hours after President Emmanuel Macron’s government narrowly survived a no-confidence motion in parliament on Monday over a deeply unpopular pension reform.

The failure of the vote will be a relief to Macron. Had it succeeded, it would have sunk his government and killed the legislation, which is set to raise the retirement age by two years to 64.

But the anger was felt as protesters took to the streets in cities across the France, opposition lawmakers vowed to force a U-turn and unions prepared for nationwide action on Thursday.

Ferraris and Hungry Children: Venezuela’s Socialist Vision in Shambles

Venezuelan children eat garbage.

CARACAS, Venezuela — In the capital, a store sells Prada purses and a 110-inch television for $115,000. Not far away, a Ferrari dealership has opened, while a new restaurant allows well-off diners to enjoy a meal seated atop a giant crane overlooking the city.

“When was the last time you did something for the first time?” the restaurant’s host boomed over a microphone to excited customers as they sang along to a Coldplay song.

This is not Dubai or Tokyo, but Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, where a socialist revolution once promised equality and an end to the bourgeoisie.

In shambles? Venezuela is the embodiment of the socialist vision.

Special rapporteur Johnston’s mandate released, here’s what he’s being tasked with

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has released foreign interference special rapporteur David Johnston’s mandate, which instructs the former governor general to determine by May 23 whether a public inquiry is necessary.

However, Johnston will have months more to dig into the broader issue of shoring up Canada’s democracy.

“Mr. Johnston is to recommend any additional mechanisms or transparent processes, such as a formal public inquiry, he deems necessary to reinforce Canadians’ confidence in the integrity of our democratic institutions by May 23, 2023,” said the Prime Minister’s Office in a statement outlining the details of this new job.

The rapporteur scam is complete bullshit, purposely designed to waste time.

Iceland Passes Asylum Clampdown Law

Iceland will tighten asylum laws after MPs voted 38 to 15 to strip benefits away from failed asylum seekers. The island nation has recently witnessed a dramatic spike in refugee arrivals, with over 2,500 asylum applicants lodged last year in a country of 370,000.

The ‘Alien Bill’’ proposed by the Icelandic Minister for Justice Jón Gunnarsson received the support of all three ruling government parties despite vocal opposition from the Pirate Party and Social Democrats, who raised concerns that refugees would be left homeless.
