As B.C.’s decriminalization pilot project takes hold, political hopes collide with public fears

Police forces across British Columbia are finalizing training on new drug laws that will limit or entirely cease their interactions with people who use drugs as the province becomes the first in Canada to decriminalize simple possession.

The legal change, which takes effect Tuesday, marks a monumental shift in policing drug-related offences. While many police departments have in recent years moved away from arresting and recommending charges for possession alone, officers will now also stop confiscating illegal drugs – a standard practice they have known their whole careers.

Justin Trudeau’s MPs are more nervous than ever about the Liberal party

MONTREAL—On Monday, Justin Trudeau’s government will enter a make-or-break parliamentary season. Given the average life of past minority governments, this could well be the last full year of the prime minister’s third term. More than a few Liberals fear it could also be the closing chapter of their party’s tenure in power.

Back in 2015, Trudeau rode to power on a cyclical wave of change. In the next election, the Liberals will be running against the tide. In recent Canadian history, no federal incumbent has ever managed to win a fourth consecutive term. This prime minister has never lost a political battle, but there is a first time for everything.

Vietnam and Ukraine

Fifty years after America signed the Paris Peace Accords with Vietnam, the pact is a reminder that Congress is capable of abandoning an ally in the middle of a war.

The thing to remember — on the anniversary of the signing of the Paris Peace Accords, a catastrophic compromise forced by America on the government of Free Vietnam — is that it could yet happen in respect of Ukraine. This time the pressure for a negotiated settlement is coming, at least in part, from the right. Senator Rand Paul, the libertarian-type Republican, just offered another warning against the war in Ukraine becoming “endless.”

So left or right, it is a possibility — slim at the moment, but history teaches to beware — that Congress will get tired of this war and end the support. Even if no GIs ever go to Ukraine. This is one of the great lessons of Vietnam. It wasn’t about saving our GIs there. American combat soldiers were long since withdrawn from Vietnam when Congress cut off military support for the Free Vietnamese forces.

UK: Police applicants ‘functionally illiterate in English accepted in bid to improve diversity’

Applicants to the police who can barely write in English are being accepted by the Met in an attempt to improve diversity, one of His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary has warned.

HMI Matt Parr said that while it was entirely “noble and right” that Scotland Yard was aiming to be more representative of the community it policed, it should not be at the expense of standards.

In 2021, Dame Cressida Dick, the then Met Commissioner, declared it was the force’s aspiration to recruit 40 per cent of its officers from the black and ethnic minority communities by 2023.

Trailblazer: Canada’s Trudeau Appoints ‘Special Representative for Fighting Islamophobia’

Justin “Fidelito” Trudeau has once again shown himself to be among the cutting-edge Leftist leaders of the world and set an example for Canada’s neighboring colossus to the south by appointing the Canadian government’s first-ever “special representative for fighting Islamophobia.” What a relief, eh, that a government is finally tackling this phenomenon with the full power of the state! The only problem is that the record of such programs, at least in the United States, generally shows that when the government vows to stamp out something, it creates more of it instead. Remember the War on Poverty? The War on Drugs? Canada’s new war on “Islamophobia” is unlikely to be different.

The strange reaction to the death of a child rapist drag queen

Darren Moore – child rapist – drag queen

On Sunday 22 January 2023, Darren Moore was found dead. Moore was a long-standing and well-known drag artist in Cardiff where he lived.

He was also a convicted child rapist.

But this chilling fact has been almost entirely ignored by the mainstream media as they report his death. Instead, the commentary and news coverage has been hugely positive about Moore’s life. At times, the coverage has bordered on gushing, with article after article going into great detail about the warm tributes to Moore pouring in from the local community.

Sunni Muslim Leaders Call for Global Boycott of Swedish & Dutch Goods

Following two inflammatory demonstrations held days ago which saw protesters in Sweden and the Netherlands set fire to and tear up pages of the Quran, Sunni Muslim leaders have urged followers of Islam across the world to boycott Swedish and Dutch goods.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, January 25th, Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt, the Sunni Muslim world’s preeminent religious institution, urged “Muslims to boycott Dutch and Swedish products,” in what is the latest fallout over last weekend’s demonstrations in Stockholm and The Hague where the Islamic holy book was desecrated in the name of freedom of expression, Göteborgs-Posten reports.

You’re on Your Own

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is never more alive than when she believes she’s being persecuted, which, to hear her tell it, is often.

Whether it’s the Israel lobby, the Jews, her fellow Democrats, the Jews, MAGA Republicans, or the Jews, everyone is out to get Rep. Omar. In her estimation, this is a product of everyone else’s pathologies, never her own. Now, the Minnesota congresswoman has found herself in the crosshairs of the new Republican leadership, which has singled out her and two of her Democratic colleagues for punishment in the form of withheld committee assignments.

Biden Administration’s Total Disregard for Iran’s Protestors, Nuclear Threat

Since the Biden administration assumed office, Iran’s ruling mullahs have seized the opportunity to continuously advance their nuclear program, which is currently a short step away from manufacturing nuclear weapons.

Iran’s mullahs have made significant advances by tripling their nuclear program’s capacity to enrich uranium to 60%, a short step away from the 90% purity required to build a nuclear weapon.

The Last of Us: Could a fungal pandemic turn us all into zombies?

Caterpillar eaten by fungus

Let me introduce you to something truly horrifying – the fungus that turns its victims into zombies.

Its spores enter the body. The fungus then grows and begins to hijack the mind of its host until it loses control and is compelled to climb to higher ground.

The parasitic fungus devours its victim from the inside, extracting every last nutrient, as it prepares for its big finale.
