Francis has refused to side with the West since the invasion
Among some conservative Catholics, the current pontiff is known as “the Pope of confusion”. This not entirely unfair nickname gains a good deal of its rhetorical force from Francis’ spontaneous, colourful and discursive manner of speaking, which stands in sharp contrast to the more measured, precise and academic approach of his immediate predecessor, Benedict.

Facebook just keeps finding new ways to be awful. The latest stunt is to jump into the comments section of your posts to insert some approved agitprop that stays near the top of your feed.

Maybe Vladimir Putin SHOULD get the Nobel Peace Prize after all.
To be sure, Putin’s bloody invasion of Ukraine is an affront to humanity, given his targeting of civilians. Russia even fired upon medical and humanitarian aid convoys and is using a nuclear power plant as a shield for his military operations.
But Putin’s invasion may be saving Europe—and other nations—from their blind devotion to the “climate catastrophe” movement and the worldwide push to “Net Zero by 2050.” Even before Putin’s war disrupted European energy supplies vastly increased energy costs, Europeans were suffering from senseless “green” energy policies imposed in the name of “saving the planet.”

A recently surfaced photograph of three of Al Qaeda’s top leaders, including Saif al Adel – the man many believe to be the successor to emir Ayman al Zawahiri – shows that they were present in the Iranian capital of Tehran. Numerous U.S. government designations have previously outlined the presence of senior Al Qaeda leaders in Iran, but this photo offered rare visual proof.
The photo was originally published by @Sw0rdOfAnon (Anonymous) on Twitter. Two U.S. intelligence officials independently confirmed to FDD’s Long War Journal the authenticity of the photograph, as well as the identities of the three men. The intelligence officials said the photograph was taken in Tehran before 2015.

It has only been about 2 weeks since KGW 8 aired a report about people leaving the city of Portland because of crime and homelessness. A few days ago the site published another story along the same lines. People are just fed up with the city’s problems and are ready to abandon ship.

The sport as we know it is changing forever.
On Thursday night, 69,000 people watched the Pittsburgh Panthers defeat the West Virginia Mountaineers in a hard-fought football game. The 38–31 contest was a throwback to another era, and not just in style of play. The “Backyard Brawl” always has an electric atmosphere, but this game was especially raucous—perhaps because fans have to get their licks in while they still can. The two schools are close to one another geographically, and their fans mutually disdainful, which makes for a heated rivalry.

FA bans Hooters from sponsoring an under 10s football team after the Nottingham bar sparked outrage for ‘sexualising kids’ and sending their waitresses to pose with the players
An under 10s football team in Nottingham has been told they must cancel their sponsorship deal with local bar Hooters.
The deal between Burton Joyce FC and Hooters attracted controversy on Twitter due to the American-owned bar’s reputation for giving its female staff revealing uniforms, which has led to some critics labelling the bar ‘degrading’ to women.
It has now been banned by the Nottingham FA.

A steep bill comes due for decades of democracy promotion.
On March 24, a month after Russian tanks rolled across Ukraine’s borders, the Biden White House summoned America’s partners (as its allies are now called) to a civilizational crusade. The administration proclaimed its commitment to those affected by Russia’s recent invasion—“especially vulnerable populations such as women, children, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTQI+) persons, and persons with disabilities.” At noon that same day, Secretary of State Antony Blinken tweeted about the “massive, unprecedented consequences” American sanctions were wreaking on Russia, and claimed Russia’s economic “collapse” was imminent.

Joe Biden’s “soul of the nation” Independence Hall speech apparently didn’t go over the way he thought it would go over with the voters.
That’s the only conclusion one can reach now that he’s walking back his grandly staged production’s bloodcurdling message about President Trump’s supporters being “threats to democracy.”
Two recent (and despicable) homicides in context.
Two recent and rather unnatural atrocities underscore the murderous hate that Islam mandates for any and all who are perceived to defy its—or those who associate themselves with its—authority.
On Aug. 13, in France, a 25-year-old Muslim man beheaded his own 60-year-old father with a knife. When police arrived on the scene, the defiant murderer tried to attack them while crying Islam’s triumphant war-cry, “Allahu Akbar,” thereby establishing his jihadist frame of mind.

The mother of all Covid conspiracy theories is true
For more than a year after the onset of the pandemic, talking about the possibility that the virus might have been lab-engineered was taboo. Then, as the evidence continued to mount, it suddenly became acceptable to talk about it in “respectable” circles. Today, however, we appear to have gone full-circle: a determined effort is once again underway to dismiss the lab-leak theory for good — even though no new evidence has emerged to disprove it.
Alan Partridge provides constructive criticism to his Ukrainian girlfriend Sonia.
My favorite literary character of all time – I refuse to believe he’s not real – privately considers the English Breakfast to be that people’s only serious contribution to civilization. As an Irish medical officer in the Napoleonic era Royal Navy Stephen Maturin keeps this opinion to himself.
Like the terms “liberal” and “right wing/left wing”, “feminism” means nothing very specific now. There are historical elements to the movement – and I’m not sure we’re on the same movement any more – which I certainly support. Property rights, for example. But women were sold a bill of goods in the 20th century, and a lot of them were dumb enough to fall for it. It turns out that much work isn’t glamorous, no-strings-attached promiscuity is actually more of a guy thing (but it’s so liberating! Take that, patriarchy!), most women want children and finding yourself without a family late in life is actually quite horrifying (although there’s nothing wrong with lots of cats). Which, if you think about it, should have been easy to spot from the get go.
This is the best summation of #feminism I've seen. Literally. https://t.co/4QIWAmNVEA

In news, everything seems to be going horribly, horribly wrong. You’re welcome.
It’s all yours.

Poverty and underdevelopment are the real causes of this devastation.
Devastating floods have enveloped the provinces of Sindh and Balochistan in Pakistan. By the end of August, a third of Pakistan was said to be underwater. Over 1,100 people have died, 3,600 kilometres of roads are now impassable, one million houses have been damaged and one million livestock lost. Overall, over 30million people have been affected – one in seven Pakistanis. The World Bank and other international institutions have pledged hundreds of millions of dollars for reconstruction, though the damage caused is estimated to reach around $10 billion. The floods are believed to be the worst in Pakistan’s history.

Inflation and the rising cost of fuel and labor have forced the 6,000 independent small businesses that deliver FedEx packages on the ground to demand more compensation.
The multi-national conglomerate has refused to accede to their demands. The impasse could cripple operations.
