Why does the left hate Elon Musk?

It’s simple, really: Because he can’t be controlled, and because he doesn’t tolerate BS.

The left can’t stand either. It insists on control, to the point of systematically eliminating or co-opting anything that might serve as an independent power center. (Their fear is justified: “Music clubs” turned out to be a major factor in Czechoslovakia’s 1989 anticommunist Velvet Revolution.) And it insists on not merely spreading BS, but on requiring people to repeat and endorse its BS as a sign of submission.

On May 12, India confirmed that it would provide a desperate Sri Lankan government 65,000 metric tons of urea, pursuant to an existing $1 billion credit line. The sale, which overrides New Delhi’s ban on the exports of the commodity, relieves severe pressure on the government of Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

Sri Lanka since the end of March has been wracked by violent protests. “Shoot-on-sight” orders have for the most part restored order, but the unrest has led to the replacement of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, once the country’s dominate political figure. His brother, the president, is unlikely to survive the tumult. The ongoing economic and financial crisis is Sri Lanka’s worst since independence from Britain in 1948.

Princeton University’s president is demanding one of the school’s most distinguished professors be fired, following student uproar over the educator’s criticism of woke school policies and racial politics that emerged after the murder of George Floyd.

The recommended dismissal, sent by University President Christopher Eisgruber to the school’s board of directors last week, accuses classics professor Joshua Katz of not cooperating with a 2018 investigation into alleged sexual misconduct.

The investigation looked into a relationship Katz, 51, had with a student in 2006. It saw the tenured professor briefly suspended, after being resolved internally.

FBI Investigating ‘Concerted Effort’ by Out-of-State Protesters to Stop Building Police Training Center

Atlanta police arrested eight protesters on Tuesday after Molotov cocktails were thrown at officers escorting construction workers who are building a new police, fire, and EMS training facility.

Many of the protesters were from out of state. The FBI is also investigating the possibility that the protesters crossed state lines in order to commit felonies.

Russia may scrap age limits for soldiers to bolster Ukraine invasion force

Senior Russian officials have proposed a new law that would eliminate age limits for military contract soldiers, in another sign the country is facing a shortage of infantry to continue its offensive in Ukraine.

Two members of the ruling United Russia party who introduced the law said the move would enable the military to utilise the skills of older professionals.

“For the use of high-precision weapons, the operation of weapons and military equipment, highly professional specialists are needed. Experience shows that they become such by the age of 40-45,” it said.

Russia halts gas supplies to Finland

Russia is halting its supply of natural gas to Finland, the Finnish state-owned energy firm Gasum says.

Finland has been refusing to pay for its supplies in roubles. But it also follows an announcement that Finland will apply for Nato membership.

Gasum said the move was “regrettable” but said there would be no disruption to customers.

Despite the Ukraine conflict, Russia continues to supply gas to many European countries.

Netflix’s recent axing of 150 staff targeted many of the firm’s wokest workers who are prolific social justice warriors on social media.

The struggling streaming service has pulled the plug on several projects that were aimed at discussing race and LGBTQ issues, Variety reported, and axed the diverse employees working on and promoting them.

In addition to the layoffs, the company also fired nearly 70 employees working for its social media and publishing teams focused on marginalized communities.

Already in 1999, two colonels in China’s People’s Liberation Army, Qiao Liang and Wang Xiansui, wrote, “Unrestricted Warfare: China’s Master Plan to Destroy America.” In it, the authors “suggest the significance of alternatives to direct military confrontation, including international policy, economic warfare, attacks on digital infrastructure and networks, and terrorism. Even a relatively insignificant state can incapacitate a far more powerful enemy by applying pressure to their economic and political systems.” Ideally, “one might not even know that one is the target.”

AP-NORC Poll: Joe Biden‘s Approval Dips to Lowest of Presidency

President Joe Biden’s approval rating dipped to the lowest point of his presidency in May, a new poll shows, with deepening pessimism emerging among members of his own Democratic Party.

Only 39% of U.S. adults approve of Biden’s performance as president, according to the poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Research, dipping from already negative ratings a month earlier.

More Canadians will go hungry in Trudeau’s Canada

TORONTO – Experts and advocates anticipate that more Canadians could be at risk of going hungry as inflation continues to outpace many consumers’ grocery budgets.

Valerie Tarasuk, a professor of nutritional sciences at University of Toronto, said steepening inflation rates are likely to increase the prevalence and severity of food insecurity in Canada. That could mean financial concerns will prompt people to reduce meal sizes, skip meals or even go a day or more without eating.

Overall food costs rose 8.8 per cent compared with a year ago, while Canadians paid 9.7 per cent more for food at stores in April, the largest increase since September 1981, Statistics Canada reported Wednesday.
