A BLM activist and her husband are accused of collecting approximately $33,426 in unemployment payments and using an unspecified amount of donation money to treat themselves to meals at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., vacations and trips to the nail salon.

Monica Cannon-Grant, 41, and her husband, Clark Grant, 38, of Taunton, Massachusetts, who founded the non-profit organization Violence in Boston, were charged in an 18-count indictment with wire fraud, conspiracy, and making false statements to a mortgage lending business, the U.S. attorney’s office said in a statement Tuesday.

Cannon-Grant also faces a mail fraud count. She has denied all allegations made against her.

Inflation hit 5.7% in February. Economists say it hasn’t peaked

Statistics Canada says the annual inflation rate climbed to 5.7 per cent in February, with economists pointing to the war in Ukraine as one of the significant factors pushing the price index to its highest point since August 1991.

Helping to drive the increase in February were higher gasoline prices that were up 32.3 per cent compared with February 2021 and 6.9 per cent from a month earlier.

Statistics Canada says that excluding gasoline prices, the headline inflation rate would have been 4.7 per cent in February.

In other words Trudeau’s Carbon tax thievery will make it worse.

Ontario reported 16 net new deaths due to COVID-19 on Wednesday, as ICU occupancy in Ontario hospitals hit the lowest point since the end of 2021.

The Ministry of Health says that 15 of Wednesday’s deaths occurred in the past 30 days and one other occurred prior to that period.

Ontario’s health minister believes the COVID-19 subvariant BA.2, which has been described as “stealth Omicron,” may make up at least half of all infections reported in the province in the near future.

“But the evidence suggests that, in Ontario at least, it is a subvariant of the original Omicron variant and it’s not causing many more hospitalizations or more intensive treatments,” Christine Elliott said at a news conference Tuesday.

Ukraine war: Zelensky invokes 9/11 in plea to US Congress

Ukraine’s president invoked the horror of the 2001 terror attacks on the US as he pleaded for more military aid in a historic address to the US Congress.

Volodymyr Zelensky said via video link that Ukraine was enduring a 9/11 every day as it battled Russian forces.

He again urged the US and Nato allies to enforce a no-fly zone over Ukraine, saying: “I need to protect the sky.”

President Biden is later set to sign off an extra $800m (£612m) in military aid to Ukraine.

The Fog Of Information War In Ukraine

The Western intelligence apparatus has been busy in Ukraine. With financing and collaboration through various non-governmental organizations, it won the information war with the help of Ukrainian media before Russia ever fired a shot in February. Even the country’s newest publications, like the Kyiv Independent, have received support and funding from institutions associated with the Central Intelligence Agency.

In most cases, these outlets have propagandized to the beat of the West’s war drums rather than inform the public.

‘We are seeing the creation of a two-tier system of health care in Ontario’

A provincewide call to action on the alleged privatization of health care will see a series of emergency summits held across Ontario over the next month.

Kicking off next week in Ottawa and running in 20 different cities across the province over March and April, the Ontario Health Coalition — a network of over 400 member organizations including seniors’ groups, unions and non-profit community agencies — will host a series of summits to launch the “biggest fightback we have ever mounted.”

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization has signalled its solidarity with Ukraine in the form of supplies, weapons and sanctions since the early days of Russia’s latest incursion into its territory, but has not deployed troops for combat.

“This is the first time where people say, ‘Give diplomacy and sanctions a chance but brace for potentially this becoming military involvement,”’ said Leger executive vice-president Christian Bourque.

No New Normal

This presidency was supposed to be so normal. Watching Joe Biden’s inauguration, Washington Post columnist Max Boot “could not help but recall Warren G. Harding’s 1920 campaign slogan: ‘Return to normalcy.’” As Biden introduced his cabinet to the world, Steve Benen of MSNBC was “struck by how normal the choices are.” By April, Eugene Robinson of the Washington Post was relieved to find that “there are days when the new administration is so radically normal that it’s actually kind of boring.” With Bad Orange Man gone for good, everything was fine and good and most of all, normal, normal, normal.

And of course, one year in, it’s going great. Record inflation? Normal. Medical intervention via federal bureaucracy? Extremely normal. Nationally endorsed sexual predation in prisons and schools? The normalest. Cheerleading a new world war to change a nuclear power’s regime is normal; so are supply chain crises. It is also very, very normal for food and fuel to be prohibitively expensive. So that’s reassuring.
