Left-wing rocker Neil Young is now pushing for other artists to pull their music from Spotify, calling the audio streaming service a “damaging force” that is causing “24 year old’s” to end up on “the wrong side of the truth.”

Young’s call comes after Spotify said it would pull the singer’s music from its platform following his demand that the company either remove his music or blacklist Joe Rogan and his popular podcast.

Rescuers formed a human chain to rescue four people from a commuter bus left dangling off the edge of a collapsed bridge in Pittsburgh early Friday.

Photographs from the scene showed the bus – which had three passengers and a driver on board – perched upright on the edge of the bridge. Other rescuers rappelled nearly 150ft to help with the rescue.

The two-lane span, on Forbes Avenue over Fern Hollow Creek in Frick Park, came down around 7 a.m, taking multiple vehicles with it.

Ontario reported another 68 new deaths due to COVID-19 on Friday, pushing the death toll for the month of January so far above 1,100.

Ministry of Health spokesperson Alexandra Hilkene said four of the deaths reported today occurred on Thursday, 17 occurred on Wednesday and the 46 remaining occurred in the 11 days prior to Wednesday.

A new guide developed by Ontario’s public health agency suggests Omicron coronavirus infections are contagious for no less time than those of earlier variants, calling into question the province’s move to reduce self-isolation to five days for vaccinated people.

In a guide about how to best cohort patients in hospital published Jan. 21, Public Health Ontario (PHO) said they do not have any evidence to suggest Omicron is infectious for a shorter period of time.

At least a third of the donations to the GoFundMe campaign set up to support the convoy of trucks headed to Ottawa to protest vaccine mandates came from anonymous sources or were attributed to fake names, according to an analysis by CBC News.

While thousands of Canadians and Canadian businesses have dipped into their pockets to fund the cause, thousands of other donors to the campaign are listed simply as “Anonymous.”

Police prepare for possible violence as fringe groups latch on to truckers convoy

Ottawa police Chief Peter Sloly told a police services board meeting Wednesday that officers had been in been in contact with protest leaders who he said have been co-operative and shared their plans.

But Deputy Chief Steve Bell voiced concern about “parallel groups” that intelligence suggests will also turn up to the protest. The police are trying to reach these groups – as well as counter-protesters – to discuss their aims.
