Alec Baldwin’s ‘Rust’ gun left unattended for 2 hours before Halyna Hutchins was fatally shot

The lawyers for the armorer on the film “Rust” — who has been under scrutiny since Alec Baldwin fatally shot the movie’s cinematographer with a gun that was not supposed to contain live ammunition — said in interviews on Wednesday that the gun had been left unattended for hours, but later corrected themselves to say it had only been several minutes.

The gun left on a prop cart had been loaded with six dummy rounds by the armorer, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, who took the prop ammunition from a box labeled “dummies,” said one of her lawyers, Jason Bowles. Dummy rounds contain no gunpowder and are used to resemble bullets on camera.

Prosecutors In The Kyle Rittenhouse Trial Are Telling Jurors A Story Refuted By Video Evidence And Eye-Witness Testimony

For there to be a murder conviction in the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse, two things have to happen: Jurors must feel intimidated into rendering a guilty verdict and prosecutors must convince those jurors of a version of events that directly contradicts eye-witness testimony and what is plainly seen on video.

The intimidation factor is already in the bag. Multiple jurors expressed this week that they believed that “half the country will be up in arms” regardless of the trial’s outcome, that they were “afraid of our community and the outsiders of our community that are coming in,” and wondering “Am I gonna get home safe?”

Canadian employers are firing or putting on unpaid leave thousands of workers who refused to get COVID-19 shots, squeezing an already tight labor market and raising prospects of potentially disruptive legal challenges.

Van Jones is right: Democrats are ‘annoying,’ and it’s costing them elections

Growing up, Republicans were the schoolmarms. They wanted to codify marriage equality bans in state constitutions, take away or censor your video games and movies, and do damn near anything to become as close to John Lithgow in Footloose as possible.

But then, things changed. Abortions fell as contraception access expanded — yes, in part due to Obamacare — and with the thrice-married celebrity in the White House, Republicans chilled out. No longer were the “culture wars” defined by conservatives trying to regulate your bedrooms; instead, they became liberals and leftists trying to regulate everything from your “preferred pronouns” to the number of booster shots in your arm.

BREAKING: Trudeau says ‘even more ambitious’ climate measures will come in future

After announcing a cap on Canada’s oil and gas sector that will see net zero emissions by 2050, and pledging to ban coal exports by 2030, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Tuesday that countries will continue to push each other to be “even more ambitious” on their fight against climate change.

D.C. Jail Transfers Out 400 Prisoners for Disgusting, Inhumane Conditions—But Not a Single J6 Detainee

One of the political prisoners being held in jail for participating in the Capitol riot, Nathan DeGrave, sent a letter that was released on Twitter alleging horrific conditions in the D.C. jail for January 6 prisoners. DeGrave’s letter alleged “extreme medical neglect,” mental and physical abuse, “unlivable conditions,” dirty water, and starvation. His allegations resulted in a surprise inspection to back up his claims.

Ontario plans to eventually offer booster doses of COVID-19 vaccines to all residents, officials said Wednesday, with the next priority groups able to start booking appointments starting this week.

Those select groups, representing about 2.75 million people, can begin booking appointments at 8 a.m. ET on Saturday Nov. 6, officials said.

FERNANDO: Canada Needs Conservatives To Act Conservative

Sometimes, life offers unexpected surprises.

But they’re called ‘surprises’ for a reason, as most of the time, things tend to play out how we expect.

And so, Justin Trudeau’s remarks at the COP26 conference were unfortunately quite predictable.

He sold-out our economy, pledging to cap oil & gas sector emissions, in what amounts to a massive gift to nations like Saudi Arabia and Russia who will be glad to profit at our expense.

Canada’s goal-posts are moving once again when it comes to COVID-19

The government is changing what it means to be “fully-vaccinated.” Two shots may not be enough as Canada’s top public health “expert” Dr. Theresa Tam says the general population will need another vaccine shot. Tam’s latest ruling comes just three days after she said boosters would not be required for Canadians.

The Injustices Facing J6 Protesters Are Warnings to You

AGoogle news search for Nathan DeGrave will show nothing more recent than two weeks old. This is peculiar, given that his letter on the conditions at the D.C. Department of Corrections was published October 30 and should be the biggest story in America.

China and India Demand a TRILLION Dollars to Reduce CO2 Emissions

After meeting Joe Biden and John Kerry in person, China, India and delegates of other developing nations have added another zero to their carbon ransom, and are now demanding a trillion dollars to tackle the climate crisis.

CNN Analyst Slammed For Comparing ‘Let’s Go Brandon’ Chants To Nazi, KKK Rhetoric

Former President Bill Clinton’s press secretary and current CNN analyst, Joe Lockhart, was slammed Monday when he made a tweet comparing the “Let’s Go Brandon” chant to coded language used by the KKK.

“You know who also had coded statements like Brandon? ISIS, the Klan, Nazi’s… beginning to get the point?” Lockhart said on Twitter.

The Evidence Mounts: A new NIH letter reinforces the lab-leak hypothesis for the origins of Covid-19.

You got any handi-wipes?

The origin of the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes Covid-19 remains unclear, but recent revelations reinforce the likelihood that the true source was a lab leak from the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV).

letter from Lawrence Tabak, the National Institutes of Health’s principal deputy director, to Kentucky congressman James Comer confirms that the NIH funded research at the WIV during 2018–2019 that manipulated a bat coronavirus called WIV1. Researchers at the institute grafted spike proteins from other coronaviruses onto WIV1 to see if the modified virus was capable of binding in a mouse that possessed the ACE2 receptors found in humans—the same receptor to which SARS-CoV-2 binds. The modified virus reproduced more rapidly and made infected humanized mice sicker than the unmodified virus.

Baldwin Shooting Elicits a Familiar—and Flawed—Response

If one terrible thing happens with a gun, gun control activists reflexively call for bans or other new regulations. There is rarely a consideration of costs and benefits. Actor Alec Baldwin has demonstrated this thinking again after the accidental fatal shooting on the set of his movie in New Mexico.

“[H]ow many bullets were fired in movies and TV shows over the last 75 years?” he said on Saturday. “… Billions? In the last 75 years? And nearly all of them without incident. … Some new measures have to take place. … No live ammunition. No real weapons in the set.”

The Pernicious Racism of ‘Anti-Racism’

The 10 worst instances of Critical Race Theory in US universities.

Over the last year, Critical Race Theory has become a household term, promoted by the left as essential to racial progress and denounced by the right as a racist throwback to the Jim Crow era of racial segregation.

Critical Race Theory (CRT) is a radical revision of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s dream that each American be judged “not by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” While Dr. King and the leaders of the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960’s promoted “colorblindness,” CRT insists on the exact opposite view, teaching that our character, our beliefs, and our place in society is predetermined by our skin color. By this reckoning, Whites are deemed to be inherently racist, born into a framework of “white supremacy” which infiltrates all American institutions. By contrast, racial minorities, and especially Blacks are regarded as perpetual victims of the “white supremacist” society into which they were born.

The Teen Trans Craze – The truth is now out there.

In 2019, when I began writing Irreversible Damage, the transgender craze quietly ravaging teenage girls for nearly a decade burst into an uncontrolled, destructive burn.

The previous year, a public health researcher then at Brown University, Dr. Lisa Littman, had stuck her neck out. In an academic paper, she hypothesized that the sudden spike in transgender identification among teen girls was the result not of typical gender dysphoria (severe discomfort in one’s biological sex, normally beginning in early childhood) but of social contagion. Trans identification, Littman argued, had become the newest vector by which teenage girls experiencing some very real emotional difficulties talked themselves into illness and coaxed each other to self-harm. Analogous to eating disorders, transgender identification had become a maladaptive coping mechanism for untold thousands of anxious and depressed teen girls.

Climate change is no catastrophe

Attempts to stop warming will backfire dangerously

No global problem has ever been more exaggerated than climate change. As it has gone from being an obscure scientific question to a theme in popular culture, we’ve lost all sense of perspective.

Here are the facts: in Europe, emissions in 2020 were 26% below 1990 levels. In the United States, emissions in 2020 were 22% below 2005 levels. Emissions are likely to start declining, too, in developing nations, including China and India, within the next decade. Most nations’ emissions will be bigger this year than last, due to post-Covid economic growth. But global emissions are still likely to peak within the next decade.

China increasing nuclear arsenal much faster than was thought, Pentagon says

China is expanding its nuclear force much faster than US officials predicted just a year ago, highlighting a broad and accelerating buildup of military muscle designed to enable Beijing to match or surpass US global power by mid-century, according to a new Pentagon report.

The number of Chinese nuclear warheads could increase to 700 within six years, the report said, and may top 1,000 by 2030. The report released on Wednesday did not say how many weapons China has today, but a year ago the Pentagon said the number was in the “low 200s” and was likely to double by the end of this decade.

Journalists have morphed into climate activists

They have abandoned all pretence of objectivity.

Journalists had a pleasant pandemic. Covid meant that they enjoyed increased demand for news and gained a renewed sense of the importance of their job. Government press conferences allowed little-known political correspondents to grab the attention of the entire nation. They were beamed into our living rooms, hectoring ministers for their inaction, and demanding the imposition of ever-tougher restrictions on a suffering nation. They were uniformly pro-lockdown. And the absolute certainty that they were not only right but also morally virtuous lent a missionary zeal to their work.
