Lauder, former US ambassador to Austria and currently president of the World Jewish Congress, sent an open letter to US President Joe Biden setting out his concerns about rising antisemitism. “Recently, American Jews have witnessed something we never thought we would see in this country,” he wrote; “…a Jewish man wearing a yarmulke cannot walk down an American street without fear of violence. Jews have been attacked by pro-Palestinian mobs in Los Angeles, New York and other cities. Antisemitic incidents have more than doubled in the past year. Hate crimes against Jews in America are twice as high as crimes against any other religious group”.

China ‘propped the doors open’ for criminals in Microsoft hack, Australian spy agency boss says

Australia’s top cyber spy says China’s actions in the hack of Microsoft Exchange email server software were akin to propping open the doors of thousands of homes and leaving them ajar for criminals to get inside.

Rachel Noble, the director general of the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD), drew the analogy as she said the Chinese government’s actions had “crossed a line”, prompting the Australian government to join with the United States and other countries to publicly point the finger at Beijing last week.

The lawyers of French President Emmanuel Macron are suing a man who depicted the head of state as Adolf Hitler, amid recent protests opposing France’s health pass and Covid vaccine restrictions.

Michel-Ange Flori, a billboard owner from the southern French region of Var, reported that he was shocked by the charges, which he describes as a breach of his right to freedom of expression.

Manchester bomb plotter Hashem Abedi refuses to take part in prison deradicalisation scheme

Manchester Arena bomb plotter Hashem Abedi is refusing to co-operate with a prison deradicalisation programme while serving 55 years for helping his brother kill 22 concertgoers.

Abedi is one of five inmates in a separation centre at maximum security HMP Frankland in County Durham and he along with three others have turned down the opportunity to change their ways, reports ITV News.

The Ministry of Justice granted the broadcaster access to HMP Frankland and HMP Full Sutton in East Yorkshire to provide insight into how they attempt to deal with, house, categorise and deradicalise prisoners convicted of offences under the Terrorism Act.

Toronto Assault Highlights Trend of “Free Palestine” Antisemitism

TORONTO – A recent assault on a Jewish man near his home in broad daylight is just the latest in a disturbing trend of attacks on Jews stemming from anti-Israel sentiment.

On Wednesday morning, Sam Brody was walking his dog in the Midtown area of Toronto while wearing a kippah, or Jewish skullcap. A man who was passing Brody in the opposite direction suddenly pushed him to the ground and shouted: “F@ck you, you Jew – you’ll never take Israel, free Palestine!”.

The attacker was neither white nor Muslim says victim.

Ukraine snubbing the US, embraces China

Kyiv’s frustration over a lack of support and engagement from the US might be understandable. Their reaction to it is mystifying, however, and will almost certainly turn out very badly for Ukraine in multiple ways. NBC News reports that Ukraine has turned to China for infrastructure investment, and has already sold out to Beijing’s regime on human rights.

Black Lives Matter-backing mayor of Washington, DC now wants to FUND the police, citing spike in murders

Washington, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, who had ‘Black Lives Matter’ painted on the street that leads to the White House, now wants to hire more police officers and reopen the courts, citing an increase in homicides in the US capital.

Slashing the police budget for 2021 by $15 million hurt recruitment, resulting in only 42 new hires as opposed to 250 in a normal year, Bowser said on Wednesday. She called for another $11 million to hire and train 20 more officers in the current fiscal year, and 150 in 2022. The proposal is unlikely to be approved by the city council, however.

The night of 28 November, Samantha Brooks, 24, hunched over the railway tracks near Bellingham, Washington, about 32km (20 miles) south of the Canada-US border and installed a “shunt,” according to trial documents obtained by the Guardian.

A shunt is a wire stretched between the tracks that mimics the electrical signal of a train, causing oncoming trains to engage their emergency brakes. Shunts can cause derailments, which is especially dangerous for trains carrying explosive materials.

As Brooks installed the shunt, a Burlington North Santa Fe (BNSF) railway officer received an alert and photo from a game camera (a motion-sensing camera) near the tracks. Police arrived and found Brooks and another woman, Ellen Brennan Reiche, on the tracks with a bag containing a drill and wire, and arrested them.

The National Institutes of Health has doled out nearly $46 million in taxpayer funds to 100 Chinese institutions in the form of subgrants since the 2012 fiscal year to conduct research into infectious diseases, drug addiction, mental health and other scientific fields, according to a Daily Caller News Foundation analysis of federal spending data.

The NIH’s ongoing funding of Chinese research institutions comes amid growing bipartisan concern in Washington D.C. over the fact that U.S. taxpayers support research in a country that has violated international health regulations, stonewalled a proper investigation into the origins of COVID-19 and that may be in violation of the Biological Weapons Convention.

I wonder if it was known from day 1 the plague leaked from Wuhan’s lab.

As its report rightly states, Canadian Muslims are not a monolithic group. However, there was little presence of any diversity that makes up the Canadian Muslim community. Voices of Kurdish, Iranian, Baloch and anti-Taliban Afghans were absent as were those of North African Francophone Muslims largely settled in Quebec.

The federal government has proposed setting up a new watchdog that would oversee internet platforms operating in Canada — such as Facebook, YouTube, Pornhub and Twitter — to ensure illegal content, such as child pornography or hate-speech, doesn’t end up there.

The “digital safety commissioner of Canada” would oversee a slate of new rules proposed by the federal government Thursday. There are also plans to consult broadly with Canadians online before potentially putting the framework into legislation this fall.

…New regulations overseen by the commissioner would be aimed at curbing the spread of child sexual abuse material, hate-speech, terrorist content, incitements to violence and non-consensual sharing of intimate images.

In egregious cases, where a platform is flagrantly violating the rules when it comes to, specifically, terrorist content or child pornography, there could be a blocking order sought by the commissioner in court, which could make the website inaccessible to Canadians.

If you complain about the attack on freedom of speech they’ll call you an advocate of child porn.

Social media giants’ Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism classifies Jihad Watch as ‘violent extremism’

This is pure libel. We have never advocated or approved of any violence or any illegal activity of any kind. And if we are “extremist,” so is the U.S. Constitution, for we are trying to defend the freedom of speech, the freedom of conscience, and the equality of rights of all people before the law. But with these groups, there is no discussion, no appeal, no opportunity offered to defend oneself or argue one’s case. They will be shutting us down soon, and I may go to prison or worse, but remember: if that happens, it will be for no crime.
