The U.S. Army released an animated advertisement featuring a girl raised by two mothers, who marched in pride parades.
The advertisement, titled Emma|The Calling, showed a girl’s childhood before she joined the Army as a Patriot Missile operator. The two-minute video followed Emma while she watched her two mothers get married, joined a sorority at the University of California-Davis, and fought for “freedom” at a young age by participating in a gay rights parade.
TORONTO — Ontario Premier Doug Ford has announced that the provincewide stay-home-order will be extended for an additional two weeks to control the spread of COVID-19.
“Make no mistake, we’re not out of the woods yet,” Ford said during a news conference Thursday.
“Our hospitals are still under immense pressure. The spread of variants remains a major concern.”

Ontario reports 2,759 new COVID-19 cases, lowest positivity rate in nearly six weeks
Ontario is reporting a slight increase in the number of new COVID-19 infections with more than 2,700 cases confirmed today but the province’s test positivity rate has now dropped to its lowest level in nearly six weeks.
Provincial health officials logged 2,759 new infections today, up from the 2,320 cases confirmed on Wednesday and 2,073 infections recorded on Tuesday.
Mixing COVID-19 vaccines appears safe — but no data on whether it works, U.K. study says
New preliminary data suggests that mixing Pfizer-BioNtech and AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines is safe, but it’s still too soon to tell whether combining doses will provide protection against the virus.
The early results from a University of Oxford study found that mixing the two vaccines may increase the frequency of mild to moderate side effects. But the symptoms, referred to in the study as “reactogenicity,” were short-lived — lasting no longer than a few days — and there were no hospitalizations or other safety concerns.
Hamas launched suicide drones laden with explosives into Israel on Thursday. At least two exploded in the air somewhere in central Israel.
The drone attack came as over 100 long-range rockets were fired in the direction of Tel Aviv, central Israel and as far South as Eilat. Four people were injured.
The rocket attack came as the IDF prepares for a possible ground invasion of the Gaza Strip. Plans for a ground offensive are scheduled to be presented to IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Aviv Kohavi for approval later on Thursday.
