San Francisco Here We Come! Polls show Chow set to win and that’s not good for Toronto … Beijing is good with that however

If something doesn’t happen soon, Olivia Chow will be the next mayor of Toronto. Two polls that came out Monday morning showing Chow with more than 30% of voter support mirror other ones putting her well out in front of her competitors.

Saunders is uninspiring. Furey would be fine but he has little traction assuming the polls are “reliable.”

Candidates concentrate fire on front-runner Chow in first major debate of Toronto mayoral race

Olivia Chow found herself the target of most of the firepower in the first major debate of the Toronto mayoral race Monday.

The debate, hosted by the Daily Bread Food Bank and moderated by journalist Maggie John, focused on affordability, food insecurity and poverty.

How does a foodbank host a debate?

I may vote for Kevin.

TikTok parent ByteDance allowed Chinese Communist Party ‘supreme access’ to US data: lawsuit

The Chinese Communist Party “maintained supreme access” to all data held by TikTok parent ByteDance, including information stored in the US, a former top executive at the company alleged in a bombshell lawsuit in California state court.

Yintao “Roger” Yu, the former head of engineering for ByteDance’s US operations, alleged he was fired from his gig after raising alarms about the company’s actions to his superiors.

Biden is no friend of Canada and Trudeau needs to say so

A planned electric vehicle battery plant, one of the biggest industrial investments in Canadian history is under threat due to Joe Biden. Work stopped Monday on the Stellantis-LG battery plant in Windsor, Ont., with the company saying in a statement that the Trudeau government hasn’t delivered what is needed to get the plant built.

“As of today, the Canadian government has not delivered on what was agreed to therefore Stellantis and LG Energy Solution will begin implementing their contingency plans,” the company said in a statement .

It would be easy to blame Trudeau for this mess, it would also be lazy to do so. All of this is being driven by Joe Biden, America’s most protectionist president.

Pity we don’t have a leader smart enough to call the EV craze what it is – A Scam.

Flesh-eating zombie drug ‘tranq’ takes over LA streets – while officials say they can’t ban it because it’s legal

Los Angeles officials are trying to stop the spread of the flesh-eating drug xylazine that has taken over the city.

The ‘zombie drug’, a veterinary tranquilizer approved in the US for cows and horses, is now flooding the illicit US drug market, with dealers often cutting it with cocaine and heroin.

Jamie Sarkonak: Rachel Notley’s cynical plan for ethnic enclaves in Alberta schools

School curricula are useful for teaching students. In Alberta, they’re also useful for buying votes.

At least for Rachel Notley’s New Democratic Party. In the run-up to the provincial election on May 29, the NDP has said it’ll create Filipino and Somali curricula for Albertan schools if elected. The Alberta NDP confirmed to me that these curricula would be full translations of the Alberta curriculum (rather than language courses) via spokeswoman Malissa Dunphy.

The idea would be to allow schools to teach a standardized Alberta curriculum in Tagalog, the national language of the Philippines, or Somali. Notley told a press conference last month that she would be open to expanding this to other languages too, like Yoruba, spoken in some western African countries.

David Krayden: Why Did the Government Wait So Long to Expel Chinese Diplomat Given He Was Targeting Chinese Canadians?

The Liberal government finally expelled Chinese consulate official Zhao Wei last week when it became virtually impossible not to.

With mounting evidence that Zhao had put the family of Conservative MP Michael Chong under surveillance in Hong Kong, even Prime Minister Justin Trudeau understood he needed to do something to indicate Canada’s official diplomatic disapproval that China cannot continue to interfere in Canadian politics—and elections—without any sanction.

Videos Show Young Children Attending RuPaul’s Drag Convention

Young children attended and performed at a drag convention hosted by prominent drag queen RuPaul in Los Angeles over the weekend, videos show.

The Los Angeles event “is the first convention celebrating drag, queer culture, & self-expression,” according to a summary on Twitter.

MSNBC uses white liberal guest to explain that Hispanics are becoming ‘white supremacists’

The left obviously thinks that “white supremacy” is the boogeyman to scare the public into voting Democrats into permanent power. President Biden just told an overwhelmingly black audience that white supremacy is the “most dangerous terrorist threat” facing the country.

But I am unaware of white supremacists burning down cities the way that BLM-incited rioters did after George Floyd’s death of a drug overdose while in police custody. Nor have I ever met a white supremacist, at least none who would admit to such views, which are extremely unpopular even among the overwhelming majority of Caucasians.

Your DNA Can Now Be Pulled From Thin Air. Privacy Experts Are Worried.

David Duffy, a wildlife geneticist at the University of Florida, just wanted a better way to track disease in sea turtles. Then he started finding human DNA everywhere he looked.

Over the last decade, wildlife researchers have refined techniques for recovering environmental DNA, or eDNA — trace amounts of genetic material that all living things leave behind. A powerful and inexpensive tool for ecologists, eDNA is all over — floating in the air, or lingering in water, snow, honey and even your cup of tea. Researchers have used the method to detect invasive species before they take over, to track vulnerable or secretive wildlife populations and even to rediscover species thought to be extinct. The eDNA technology is also used in wastewater surveillance systems to monitor Covid and other pathogens.

Get married, have babies: how China is tackling population decline

China has announced a scheme to try to shift its culture towards childbearing and marriage as its four major cities declared their populations to be in decline for the first time.

Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen all recorded population declines for last year and the number of newborn babies across China fell to a record low below ten million.

The “new-era marriage and childbearing culture” is an ambitious attempt to alter the public view of marriage and family and create broad cultural change.

The UN is distorting the meaning of the Nakba

Its view of the Israel-Palestine conflict is extremely one-sided

Today the United Nations General Assembly will hold a special event for Nakba Day, including a “special commemorative event” in the General Assembly Hall. Coined by the Syrian intellectual Constantine Zureiq, nakba — Arabic for “disaster” — is the word used to describe the events of 1948, leading up to the creation of the state of Israel, and is synonymous today with perceptions of Israeli cruelty and the fracturing of Palestinian society.

Chris Murphy’s Dangerous Threat Of ‘Popular Revolt’ Threatens The American Public

U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., is revealing his true colors and they’re not flattering.

Murphy was a guest on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday when he ominously and recklessly warned of a “popular revolt” if the U.S. Supreme Court doesn’t rubber-stamp an unconstitutional gun control agenda that he and the Biden administration are attempting to force on the American people. This dangerous rhetoric would be labeled “seditious” or “treasonous” had a Republican lawmaker uttered it. So far, there has been deafening silence by those same lawmakers that rightfully decried the Jan. 6 violence on Capitol Hill. That doesn’t excuse the senator’s remarks that seem to offer a wink-and-a-nod to those who would seize the moment to lash out at best or at worst invite and incite violence against the government institutions that protect the rights of American people.
