Shia Muslim scholars denied entry into US suspect religious bias

It took the US consulate seven minutes to reject Nabil Ahmed Shabbir’s visa application.

Shabbir, a British Shia scholar, had applied for his US visa to assist with the birth of his first child. His wife, an American Shia Muslim, wanted to have the birth in the US.

Shabbir hadn’t even left the embassy gate after handing in his visa application when he got a text message saying it had been rejected.

One of the world’s most cited scientists in “green chemistry”, Rafael Luque, suspended without pay for 13 years

One of the most cited scientists in the world, the Spanish chemist Rafael Luque, has been suspended without pay for the next 13 years, according to Luque himself and the institution where he worked until recently, the University of Córdoba in Spain. The university has sanctioned Luque for working as a researcher at other centers, such as the King Saud University in Riyadh and the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia in Moscow, despite holding a full-time publicly funded contract with the Spanish institution.

Teacher shot by 6-year-old student says school ignored warning signs: $40M suit

The Virginia teacher shot by a 6-year-old student filed a $40 million lawsuit on Monday, accusing school officials of repeatedly ignoring warnings that the disturbed youngster had a gun.

Abigail Zwerner, 25, filed the suit nearly three months after she was shot while teaching at Richneck Elementary School in Newport News by a first-grader with “a history of random violence,” according to the lawsuit.

I am a little surprised that we don’t see this type of suit in the news more often given the horrid state of many US public school systems.

‘Inevitable’ that Australia will dump King Charles, top envoy says

Australia becoming a republic and scrapping the monarchy is “inevitable” even though Australians are proud to have the King as their head of state, the country’s new high commissioner has said.

In his first interview since moving to London, Stephen Smith said most British people would be “indifferent” to Australia getting rid of the monarchy and said it would not damage the countries’ relationship.

Dementia Joe has declined an invite to the coronation.

I have heard it’s because Joe simply does not travel well any longer but might it also reveal a decline in the importance of the Royals?

A number of “name” acts have declined offers to perform. Perhaps Charles is seen as the transition until William and Kate can revitalize the family business.

Over a year after government invoked Emergencies Act, court to hear legal challenge

OTTAWA – A national civil liberties group is set to argue that “nebulous or strained claims” about economic instability or general unrest weren’t enough to legally justify the Liberal government’s use of the Emergencies Act early last year.

The Canadian Civil Liberties Association is among the groups and individuals appearing in Federal Court today to argue Ottawa lacked sound statutory grounds to use the emergencies law and associated measures to quell protests that paralyzed the national capital and key border points.

Female Role Models Are Being Supplanted by Men

We used to say that ‘sex sells.’ Now, it seems, transgenderism does — and women are being sidelined once again.

Last month, I wrote about the cringeworthy exchange between Drew Barrymore and the male transgender activist, Dylan Mulvaney. Mulvaney displayed his vision of womanhood — a caricatural costume — and Barrymore fawned over it with performative virtue-signaling. If these are the types of behaviors deemed worthy of imitation in our culture, it’s no wonder we’re in such a mess.

Blackie’s Star: Climate Crisis & Renaming Dundas St. Make Toronto’s Top Ten Issues List

So you want to be mayor of Toronto? Here are the top 10 most pressing issues facing the city

A surprise return to the ballot box for Toronto — thanks to John Tory’s abrupt departure — has reignited debate about the biggest issues facing the city.

The byelection to pick the city’s next mayor officially starts Monday, the first day for candidate registration at city hall, and there is no shortage of mayoral hopefuls eager to offer solutions to the most pressing problems.

From the crushing cost of housing and everyday living to terrifying violence on the TTC and beyond, to the city’s pandemic-ravaged finances, this leaderless metropolis looks and feels tired and ragged. Nobody who hopes to get elected is expected to declare, “Toronto is doing fine, so let’s hit cruise control.”

Seriously if Toronto was in danger of being destroyed by a catastrophic climate event I would probably applaud and I live here.

And renaming Dundas is just the sort of progressive onanism that landed Toronto where it is today a city perversely trying to emulate the Democrat run urban disasters of America.

Other items on the list like the housing shortage are due in part to previous administration’s restricting development but are exasperated by Blackie’s insane mass immigration policy which is the single greatest driving factor behind the shortage.  The hope of owning a home is now just a dream for most and the poor face massive rent increases and diminished choice.  Let’s not forget that Blackie’s immigration policy  further impoverishes the poor by depressing wages.

Affordability? A good start will be to ask Blackie about his climate taxes on everything and strangling Canada’s energy sector.

As for crime, well Mr. Star you’re reaping the whirlwind of your own bleeding heart progressive policies.

As for “homelessness” it’s primarily a mental health/addiction crisis. No cure until the legal confinement of the mentally ill can be restored. Coincidentally that will have a major impact on TTC crime and who knows ridership may increase when the TTC is no longer used as a homeless shelter.

UK Home Secretary to act against Rape Gangs: “My mission to ensure there really is no hiding place for the evil gangs grooming our vulnerable young girls”

The time has come to right one of the greatest injustices seen in Britain in modern times. The systematic rape, abuse and exploitation of young girls by organised gangs of older men – and the disgraceful failure of the authorities to act despite ample evidence – is a stain on our country.

… First, the victims were – and are – some of the most vulnerable people in our society. Young females, overwhelmingly white girls from disadvantaged or troubled backgrounds, have been repeatedly raped, abused, intimidated, beaten and given addictive substances – and consistently let down by the authorities. Most of them have still not received justice.

Second, the perpetrators are groups of men, almost all British-Pakistani, who hold cultural attitudes completely incompatible with British values. They have been left mostly unchallenged both within their communities and by wider society, despite their activities being an open secret.

Many of them have gone unpunished and remain at large.

VPD deputy chief ‘appalled’ by online criticism after police allowed cross-dressers to run amok at protest

The deputy chief of the Vancouver Police Department says he is “appalled” by the “vile and abusive comments” officers have received on Twitter after a Friday rally in the city turned violent.

Deputy Chief Howard Chow took to the platform to respond to online criticism of the department’s policing tactics and for not making arrests at the International Transgender Day of Visibility rally.

Police issued a news release Saturday saying they had begun investigating “violent confrontations” that occurred when people attending the demonstration confronted a group of counter-protesters inside Vancouver’s Grandview Park.

Despite exhortation from India to act, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has failed to take action against a new wave of Khalistani activism in Canada.

Here is why.
