A person who hurled pizza and a skateboard during a series of public order offences has broken new legal ground by appearing in court as both a man and a woman on the same day.
The 50-year-old was put on a Restriction of Liberty Order for three months in Scotland as a result of offences committed as both Alan and as Alannah Morgan over the past 18 months.
The accused, who has a long list of previous convictions, was addressed as Alannah Morgan when appearing in the dock at Dundee Sheriff Court on Wednesday.
Americans by wide margins don’t want colleges considering race when they pick students — polling that suggests Americans would get behind the Supreme Court overruling affirmative action policies.
A YouGov survey found that 54 percent of adults in the US were against universities considering race as a factor in selecting applicants — even as part of efforts to boost diversity on campus.
That far outweighs the 23 percent who wanted admissions tutors to use race to guide selections, and similar numbers who were unsure. Democrats were much more supportive of affirmative action policies than were Republicans.

I spent the last days of innocence before Trump and Brexit heavily pregnant. Like many first-time mums, I read a lot of pregnancy books, but the one I liked most was Expecting Better. Written by Emily Oster, an economist, the book sifts carefully through many of the dire warnings doled out to pregnant women about food, drink, birth choices, and so on, assessing the evidence for each.
THERE is an organisation called the Climate Psychology Alliance. Again, they wish to use their expertise in the field of psychology to nudge people into believing in their world view of climate-induced, impending doom.
Their website states: ‘It is now widely accepted that facts and information about the risk of climate change, taken, alone, do not promote change. There is a growing acceptance that the climate change movement could be enriched by incorporating deeper psychological perspectives. But mainstream positivist psychology is often part of the problem, especially when it reduces the human being to an object to be measured, controlled and then harnessed to the profit-making machine that now threatens our collective future.’
