For years, Republicans have been predicting that Nancy Pelosi’s embrace of the so-called “squad” would lead to a political backlash, and that backlash appears to have arrived. Democrats are now lamenting the fact that Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Cori Bush, and Ayanna Pressley have been allowed to define their party at such a high level.
Yes, like many conspiracy theories of the past two years, this one is slowly being rolled out by our global leaders as just simple reality. No longer a conspiracy theory. Just real.
And they’re not being shy about it. They like the idea of refurbishing the global economy to be more “fair,” as they like to say.
Vancouver public school officials have placed restrictions on a Catholic students club, requiring its members to have “general discussions” rather than share their faith with fellow students.
“People truly don’t understand the scale, intensity, & volume of threats targeting [Rep. Ilhan Omar].”“Kevin McCarthy is so desperate to be speaker that he is working with his Ku Klux Klan caucus to look aside & allow violent targeting of woc (women of color) members of Congress.”
And it’s just the beginning of the Left’s plan to destroy America as we know it.
Demoralization. Destabilization. Crisis. Normalization.
Long-time readers of this column will remember those four words from an entry in this space exactly 17 months ago. That entry, a column entitled “Four Stages of Marxist Takeover: The Accuracy of Yuri Bezmenov,” was the most heavily trafficked item of mine last year, and either the busiest or one of the busiest on The American Spectator‘s entire site in 2020.
That happened for a reason. Namely, that it described exactly what was happening in America, and why there was a method to the apparent madness.

Retaliation against China is exactly what the world doesn’t need
Call me faint-hearted but it strikes me as a bad idea to deliberately stir up trouble against a country armed with nuclear weapons.
So it’s ominous to hear the rattling of sabres by Canadians trying to push Ottawa towards punitive action against China for its detention of two Canadians called Michael.
China is an authoritarian, repressive country and its long detentions of Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor were cruel and wrong; it’s wonderful the two men are finally free.
But the animus being stirred up against it is reckless and dangerous, and seems aimed at backing U.S. efforts by both the Trump and Biden administrations to isolate China and push back against its rising economic and technological power and the challenge this poses to U.S. hegemony.
“Student Health Ambassadors” are prowling their school grounds, on the lookout for those filthy, science-embracing guttersnipes who dare to wander campus without a mask or walk closer to friends than social-distancing Nazis prefer (even though scientists have determined that social distancing was, in part, based on outdated science).

Radical Senator Bernie Sanders published an unhinged rant on Twitter Tuesday afternoon, accusing his Republican colleagues of working to “plunge the world’s economy into chaos and depression.”
“The Republican Party’s lust for power and political gain is so great that they are prepared to default on the debt they voted for under Trump, and plunge the world’s economy into chaos and depression. To call that ‘irresponsible’ would be a major understatement,” posted Sanders on social media.
Currently, Democrats in Washington are pushing a $3.5 trillion socialist spending spree through the halls of Congress with a completely partisan reconciliation process. Despite razor-thin majorities in both chambers of Congress and no clear mandate from the American people, Democrats intend to ram through every left-wing priority possible into their disastrous tax and spend package.
Their “human infrastructure” package includes everything from free college tuition to the Green New Deal. To make matters worse, the bill gives lavish tax breaks to the political allies of the Democratic Party while saddling future American generations with unfathomable amounts of debt.
As if there weren’t already enough in the Democrats’ reconciliation package for the American people to be up in arms about, Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats snuck in a last-minute addition that would increase fines for Joe Biden’s invasive vaccine mandate by 1,000 percent.

Every other detail about this onerous legislation merits scorn, revulsion and rejection.
