One of the interesting aspects of the ongoing Freedom Convoy protests in Canada, aside from the underlying complaints of the protesters, is the curious way that the media in both that nation and the United States have chosen to construct a narrative around the protesters. This is something that others like Tucker Carlson have been noticing and pushing back against. One of the most recent examples can be found in this “explainer” from NBC News published on Thursday evening. They have clearly chosen to lump all of the protesters together as some sort of Trumpesque, Canadian “far right-wing” splinter group of extremists. Unfortunately for NBC’s dogged reporters, examples of any sort of right-wing extremism are few and far between. Also, the poster child they selected to showcase the “harm” that the truckers are causing (a 26-year-old gay Russian immigrant) leaves much to be desired in terms of the impact the protesters are actually having on his life.
This is how it’s done. https://t.co/LDpbHKGuDn

The sweet smell of freedom emanating from the streets of Ottawa is about to get a whole lot sweeter.
That’s because these fine Polish women just arrived on the scene with 1,550 Polish sausages, buns, bread, and hundreds of doughnuts for the truckers who continue to flood the streets of Ottawa in protest of vaccine mandates.
These ladies drove for four and a half hours from their store in Toronto—280 MILES—to bring food to these hungry fed-up truckers.
Ottawa residents are calling for an end to the “Freedom Convoy” demonstration taking over the Parliamentary Precinct.
Hundreds of people gathered at Ottawa City Hall Saturday afternoon, demanding an end to the protest over COVID-19 vaccine mandates and other public health measures less than a kilometre away.
Signs in the crowd said, “Get The Truck Out,” “Go Home,” and “Go Home Please.”
WTF?
Ottawa Freedom Convoy counter protestors are chanting “Trans rights are human rights.”
I don’t think they are at the right protest.

For anyone who isn’t a left-wing idealogue, the murder of Ashli Babbitt at the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, never appeared right. That is especially true for those who work in law enforcement, who have a deep understanding of the use of force and the use of force continuum.

According to former President Donald Trump, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was to blame for the January 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.
Trump told FNC host Sean Hannity that Pelosi had turned down “soldiers and/or National Guard,” which he said would have prevented problems.

A “realistic” guerrilla war will be fought across two dozen North Carolina counties in the coming weeks, with young soldiers battling seasoned “freedom fighters,” according to the U.S. Army.
The two-week “unconventional warfare exercise” will be staged Jan. 22-Feb. 4 on privately owned land. And it will be realistic enough to include the sounds of gunfire (blanks) and flares, the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School said in a news release.

During a Wednesday Senate heating, Cruz had called the events of last Jan. 6 a “violent terrorist attack on the Capitol where we saw the men and women of law enforcement … risk their lives to defend the men and women who serve in this Capitol,” according to the Texas Tribune.

Seattle police exchanged detailed fake radio transmissions about a nonexistent group of menacing right-wing extremists at a crucial moment during the 2020 racial justice protests, an investigation by the city’s police watchdog group shows.
The radio chatter about members of the Proud Boys marching around downtown Seattle, some possibly carrying guns and then heading to confront protesters on Capitol Hill was an improper “ruse”, or dishonest ploy, that exacerbated a volatile situation, the Seattle Times reported. That’s according to findings released Wednesday by the city’s Office of Police Accountability (OPA).

Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby announced a new “extremism” policy being rolled out by the Pentagon under President Biden and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Monday that the Department of Defense says provides “increased clarity” on what amounts to “extremist activities” or “prohibited activity” by service members.

The Biden administration is seeking to radically narrow the boundaries of respectable American political thought. The administration has repeatedly issued statements and reports that could automatically castigate citizens who distrust the federal government. We may eventually learn that the new Biden guidelines spurred a vast increase in federal surveillance and other abuses against Americans who were guilty of nothing more than vigorous skepticism.

A US jury has awarded $25m (£19m) in damages against the organisers of a deadly far-right rally in August 2017.
The defendants were found liable in four out of six counts over the bloodshed at the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.
The civil lawsuit was filed by nine people who suffered physical or emotional injuries in the rally.
A woman was killed and dozens were hurt after an avowed neo-Nazi drove a car into counter-protesters.

Darrell E. Brooks, who allegedly plowed his SUV into a Christmas parade in Waukesha Sunday, has been charged with 5 counts of intentional homicide — just as authorities reveal a sixth death in the incident. His bail is set at $5 Million.
