Star Touts Justin’s Shoe Shine Boy

Jagmeet Singh has matured into his role as the NDP’s leader — but will that be enough to make it a contender?

OTTAWA—Jagmeet Singh is posing for a selfie. Again.

During a late afternoon walk along the Ottawa River behind Parliament Hill, the NDP leader is approached by an exuberant passerby itching to snap a shot. Singh throws up a peace sign as the shimmering lining of one of his customary three-piece suits flashes bright blue in the wind.

The woman tells Singh she is Filipino. “Salamat po,” he replies instantly, thanking her for saying hello. Filipino is one of about 40 languages, he explains, in which he can greet people and ask how they’re doing.

Wow! Jaggy can sound stupid in 40 languages! This is high-school crush cringe.

What is the Khalistan referendum, and why is India is so concerned about what’s happening in Canada?

“Jagmeet Singh wants to become ‘Prime Minister’, but of which country, Canada or #Khalistan?”

The Modi government has issued its sharpest statement yet over what it calls “anti-India activities” originating from Canada, expressing its concern and disappointment over Ottawa’s apparent lack of action on the matter.

It comes after thousands of Canadian Sikhs took part in an unofficial voting exercise earlier this week dubbed the “Khalistan referendum”, expressing their support for a separate Sikh nation-state to split away from New Delhi in northern India.

While the Canadian authorities have defended this as an exercise in freedom of speech, the Indian foreign ministry has accused Canada of allowing extremists to carry out “deeply objectionable” and “politically-motivated exercises” that represent a threat to the integrity of India.

The NDP’s Middle East policy is to blame Israel entirely

Some politicians demonstrate perfectly why their line of work consistently ranks among the least trusted professions in the country.

Last June, university students and members of the Jewish Federation of Edmonton who felt unsafe met with Heather McPherson, Edmonton Strathcona MP and federal NDP critic for Foreign Affairs, to discuss McPherson’s one-sided stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which glosses over Palestinian wrongdoings and blames Israel entirely.

Canada Pro-Israel orgs blast NDP for anti-Israel boycott, lawfare policies

The NDP demanded the Canadian government end all trade and economic relations with Israeli settlements and suspend all arms trade with Israel.

New policies to pressure Israel and accuse it of human rights abuses published by the Canadian New Democratic Party’s (NDP) led to outrage among Canadian pro-Israel groups on Friday.

The NDP emailed out 13 policy demands for Canada’s ruling Liberal party on August 26, which would recognize the “asymmetric nature” of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and ostensibly end hostilities by pressuring and ostracising the State of Israel.

Liberals plan temporary solution to dental care program, sources say

Sources close to the government’s proposed $5.3 billion dental care program say the Liberals are planning a temporary solution that involves giving money directly to patients in order to keep their promise to the NDP while they work on a more permanent answer.

The Liberals promised the NDP a new dental care program for low- and middle-income families in March as part of a supply and confidence agreement to prevent an election before 2025.

Rex Murphy: Jagmeet Singh’s perplexing support for a government he seems to despise

It’s better than most soap operas — the turbulent on-again, off-again mutual support society of NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh and his consort, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Yet it gets increasingly difficult to make sense of Singh’s daily Twitter tirades against Trudeau’s Liberals. A secondary perplexity is the absence of any equally fiery volleys from Trudeau. Is there such a thing as a “one-way” war? If so, it is a very curious matter. For it amounts to one side verbally shelling the other on a quite consistent basis — the other side staying mute under said fire — and then both meeting up for dinner and a chat, friendly words all round, and Mr. Singh restating, “Hey, don’t mind the noise, I’ve got your back till 2025.”

There are a lot of very dumb people in the NDP.

Jagmeet Singh’s Political Career Is Falling Apart

Jagmeet Singh’s political career seems to be on the rocks these days. Singh may still be the leader of a major federal party that is polling around 20 percent but it is clear that anything the NDP currently has going for it is all in spite of his leadership.

Back in the 2021 election, it was clear that Singh’s strategy to try and monopolize the youth vote by streaming himself playing video games on Twitch with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and shooting TikTok videos did not pay off at all. Despite Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s deep unpopularity and O’Toole’s limp campaign Singh could only pick up a single seat for the NDP, after a 2019 election where he lost 15 seats.

And somehow things only got worse after the last federal election.

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh Brands Canada Homophobic During Pride Month

In contemporary Canada, expositions of pride take on a peculiar form– none more unusual than NDP Party Leader Jagmeet Singh’s approach to the topic:

“We must acknowledge that the colonial history of our country has actively had a harmful impact on 2SLGBTQI+ people. Two Spirit and Indigenous LGBTQQIA+ identities were actively attacked and purposefully destroyed. People who were once honored in their communities and held important traditional roles were left shamed, rejected and vulnerable.”
