Rats, sinking ships, some disassembly may be — but apparently isn’t — required. ABC’s Rick Klein notices today what has become apparent over the last couple of months but especially after the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision. Democrats have begun to make Joe Biden the focus of their public complaints, and they’re doing that increasingly on the record.
I don’t think Joe is in charge of anything except perhaps the White House’ Tapioca Reserve.

“The giant sucking sound you’re hearing is the panicked divestment of elected Democratic politicians, progressive activists, and the mainstream media from the Biden administration,” Michael Brendan Dougherty wrote today. “The word is definitely out that the president’s stock is going to zero — and it’s time to get out while you still can.” I agree, and so should you if you’ve been reading the site over the past 48 hours as political media is suddenly awash in stories about liberal apparatchiks furious with Biden for not showing more “urgency” in addressing the many crises bedeviling the left and the country more broadly. Ed noticed Politico’s take on it this afternoon, John flagged CNN’s take last night, now here I am seeing the same theme in coverage at WaPo and The Hill.

More than 70 percent of Americans do not want Joe Biden to stand for re-election in 2024, according to yet another dire poll for the president.
Biden’s approval rating also dropped to a low of 38 percent at a time when the president is facing a potentially damaging verdict from voters in the upcoming midterm elections in November.
Biden, 79, would find it almost impossible to implement his legislative agenda if Republicans take control of Congress in the elections.

Jeff Bezos chastised President Biden Saturday for blaming gas station companies for sky-high prices at the pump — declaring the commander-in-chief either employed “misdirection” or displayed a “deep misunderstanding” of economic fundamentals.
In a Saturday afternoon tweet, the official presidential account wrote, “My message to the companies running gas stations and setting prices at the pump is simple: this is a time of war and global peril.”
Biden Looks to Block or Limit New Offshore Drilling, Scaling Back Trump-Era Plan to Pump More Oil
The Biden administration has announced plans to block all new offshore oil and gas drilling in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, while potentially letting a handful of new leases go ahead off the coast of Alaska and in the Gulf of Mexico, charting a different course from a Trump-era plan that sought to expand offshore drilling to bolster America’s energy security.
The draft plan, released on July 1 by the Interior Department, lays out several options for public input as to how many offshore oil and gas lease sales should be held over the next five years, ranging from nearly a dozen new leases to zero.

Do we need to give prospective presidents an economic literacy test? There’s little doubt that, judging by this tweet, Joe Biden would get an “F.”

There was a very curious conference held in Colorado last month made up of government groups, FBI, DOJ, CISA, and EAC. There were liberal groups such as ERIC, CTCL, and Elections Group. Microsoft sent representatives. There was even a representative from Maricopa County. Isn’t it odd that all the same people and groups that made the 2020 election the most crooked since Kennedy won the presidency in 1960?

Facebook’s parent company Meta Platforms cut plans to hire engineers by at least 30% Thursday as founder Mark Zuckerberg warned employees of an economic downturn.
“If I had to bet, I’d say that this might be one of the worst downturns that we’ve seen in recent history,” Zuckerberg told his staff during a weekly session, the audio of which was obtained by Reuters. Meta reportedly planned to hire roughly 10,000 new engineers throughout the year, but has cut this expectation down to 6,000-7,000, Zuckerberg announced in the audio.

A group of about 70 reporters called on the Biden administration to stop restricting the press in an open letter this week.
They pointed to the Biden administration’s practices of limiting access to certain, hand picked outlets, saying the actions “cannot be defended.”
They said that he has been more restrictive than his predecessor, former President Donald Trump.

Inflation is mostly to blame for Biden’s catastrophic approval rating, of course. But I think what Axelrod describes here is an underrated reason for flagging left-wing support. It’s not (just) that his policies aren’t progressive enough.

The Department of Education continues to forgive federal debt for attendees of shuttered for-profit schools.

Biden’s energy plan is toast. It got blown up. It shows Biden being outmaneuvered by our allies. The way it was done also shows that Europe knows this presidency needs to be pushed along—a lot. It was the clearest sign of the weakness exhibited by Biden. The gross incompetence is pervasive. Within earshot of reporters, you can see French President Emmanuel Macron telling Biden that the United Arab Emirates is already at capacity with oil production and that Saudi Arabia cannot produce much more either.

Joe Biden has fulfilled one of the first promises he made upon becoming president. His administration has just announced a comprehensive set of regulations—701 pages worth—that will gut due-process rights for college students accused of sexual misconduct.
