My Religion Is Not Your Costume

Cowardly Gays Never Dress Up As Mohammed

When it comes to the culture war, the Left is playing a different ball game.

In recent weeks, the Los Angeles Dodgers made headlines by flip-flopping on whether or not to honor a group of anti-Catholic drag queens at their annual Pride Night. First pressured by Christians and then pressured by LGBTQ activists, the Dodgers have changed their minds several times, eventually landing right back where they started.

Report from Ukraine: Why They Fight

This week, near Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine, I spent time with commanders and soldiers who have been fighting the Russian invaders in the shattered city, sometimes for months on end. This has been one of the longest battles anywhere in the world since 1945 and by far the most brutal in this war, with Russians and Ukrainians often fighting at close quarters, artillery hammering the city into Stalingrad-like rubble and a level of slaughter unequalled anywhere else in Putin’s vicious war.

Public inquiry would restore trust in Ottawa’s handling of Beijing election meddling, legal experts say

Canadians would have greater trust in the government’s handling of Chinese state interference if Ottawa appointed a judge – with full subpoena powers – rather than relying on the advice of former governor-general David Johnston, according to former lead counsel of two major public inquiries.

Paul Cavalluzzo, who was lead commission counsel for the Maher Arar inquiry, and Mark Freiman, who was lead counsel for the Air India inquiry, say a full-scale public inquiry into China’s meddling in Canadian politics would help restore public faith that Ottawa is taking the matter seriously.

Stewart Rhodes, the founder of the far-right Oath Keepers militia, was sentenced on Thursday to 18 years in prison, after being convicted of seditious conspiracy for his role in the January 6 attack on Congress.

Prosecutors sought a 25-year term. Lawyers for Rhodes said he should be sentenced to time served, since his arrest in January 2022.

Before handing down the sentence on Thursday, the judge told a defiant Rhodes that he posed a continued threat to the US government, saying it was clear Rhodes “wants democracy in this country to devolve into violence”.
