That’s All, Folks — For Great Movies

All this month, for very good reason, Turner Classic Movies has been celebrating the great movies Warner Bros. gave us these last 100 years.

If you want to see the former glory of a once great nation and its culture in decline, go to a museum. That is, of course, unless the art on display has been tainted or altered by the very forces causing the decay. Because a major ritual for the current Visigoths in power is to erase the accomplishments of the past, as they present both a truth that threatens their control and a quality they cannot hope to match. Hence, they can only deny their existence. Nonetheless, museums still survive and, for the art of motion pictures, one of the best is Turner Classic Movies (TCM).

AI is hijacking these actors’ voices. Can you tell the difference?

Advances in artificial intelligence have allowed software to recreate voices with eerie precision. The technology puts voice actors, often-nameless professionals, in a precarious position.

Companies clamor to use Remie Michelle Clarke’s voice. An award-winning vocal artist, her smooth, Irish accent backs ads for Mazda and Mastercard and is the sound of Microsoft’s search engine, Bing, in Ireland.

But in January, her sound engineer told Michelle Clarke he’d found a voice that sounded uncannily like hers someplace unexpected: on Revoicer.com, credited to a woman named “Olivia.” For a modest monthly fee, Revoicer customers can access hundreds of different voices and, through an artificial intelligence-backed tool, morph them to say anything — to voice commercials, recite corporate trainings or narrate books.

Well that’s another “profession” surrendering to AI. There will be “voice appropriation” lawsuits for awhile but the damage is done short of a ban.

What a grift.

Biden expected to announce 2024 presidential campaign on Tuesday

Joe Biden is expected to announce his 2024 re-election campaign on Tuesday, possibly setting the stage for an extraordinary rematch with Donald Trump.

A Tuesday launch would come exactly four years after Biden announced his 2020 presidential bid, in which he warned that the “soul” of the nation was at stake after four tumultuous years of the Trump presidency.

Soul of the nation? President Sleazebag and his degenerate thieving family have revealed the dark underbelly of the deep state.

Poll suggests most Canadians don’t want Charles as King

A new poll from the Angus Reid Institute suggests most respondents (60 per cent) oppose even recognizing Charles as King. Just 28 per cent say they have a favourable view of Charles, while nearly half (48 per cent) do not.

And the news is equally bad when it comes to how they feel about Charles’s wife.

Andy and Harry have made a lasting shambles of the Royal family image by involvement with shady outsiders.

I am not sure people are willing to carry on with the fantasy any longer and reveleations of Charles vast unearned wealth can’t be helping especially given his tendency to woke lecturing.

Communist China’s proxy war against faith

… Much of the analysis of the Belt and Road Initiative has focused on its impacts in sub-Saharan Africa, where several countries have faced debt crises as a result of the infrastructure projects. But an underappreciated impact of the Belt and Road Initiative and significant economic ties with China is the potential for Chinese government influence in the human rights realm, including in regards to religious freedom.

Trudeau Foundation meeting in the Prime Minister’s HQ smacks of unseemly special status

I ask myself the following question: how many foundations in the country have access to a room in the Prime Minister’s Building and also have access to five deputy ministers at the same time? There shouldn’t be many. Dimitri Soudas, political analyst and former close associate of former Prime Minister Stephen Harper

“I wish I had another example of a foundation that had such access. Seems like preferential treatment for a foundation that had the name of the father of the current prime minister,” he added.

What did Justin Trudeau know about this roundtable? Nothing, argues the Prime Minister’s Office. “Neither the Prime Minister nor the Prime Minister’s staff attended this meeting. The Prime Minister was not aware of this meeting,” said Alison Murphy, spokesperson for Mr. Trudeau.

Twitter has given a gold tick to Britain First, the far right political organisation, after a shake-up of its verification system under new owner Elon Musk.

The party’s leader, Paul Golding, has also received a blue tick for his account, which means that his posts will be boosted in conversations and will be ranked higher in user searches. Golding was jailed in 2018 for religiously aggravated harassment.

Twitter’s gold tick designates a verified organisation that is a business or non-profit entity, according to the platform’s website. Twitter is charging UK entities £1,140 a month for official gold tick status, while personal accounts are being charged £9.60 for a blue tick.
