NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh Brands Canada Homophobic During Pride Month

In contemporary Canada, expositions of pride take on a peculiar form– none more unusual than NDP Party Leader Jagmeet Singh’s approach to the topic:

“We must acknowledge that the colonial history of our country has actively had a harmful impact on 2SLGBTQI+ people. Two Spirit and Indigenous LGBTQQIA+ identities were actively attacked and purposefully destroyed. People who were once honored in their communities and held important traditional roles were left shamed, rejected and vulnerable.”

Jan. 6 committee goals: ‘Imprison Trump, destroy Electoral College’

The special committee set up by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to “investigate” the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the Capitol started out badly. Pelosi refused the GOP’s nominees for the committee and to her own party’s picks added a couple of rabidly anti-Trump GOP members, making the entire process partisan.

Then it has demanded testimony from hundreds of witnesses, and even has attacked members of the U.S. House with subpoenas and threats, unprecedented in House disputes.

Observers have noted it has made clear from the outset that the results of the investigation are to be that President Trump is to be punished, no matter the facts.

Dr. Robert Malone on Monkeypox Fear Porn & The War Game

On May 23, 2022, the Portuguese National Institute of Health announced a multi-country outbreak of Monkeypox, claiming “genetic divergence and the first signs of microevolution.”

Dr. Robert Malone is calling it “fear porn” and wonders if it will ever stop. He said that the superspreader PRIDE event in Belgium could have inadvertently or deliberately been the vehicle for spreading it. People at that event came from all over the world.

Uvalde Cops Reportedly Tried To Silence the Mom Who Rescued Her Kids and Criticized the Police Response

In an interview with CBS that aired this weekend, Gomez explained how she was able to enter the school and rescue her two children despite the cops’ active efforts to thwart her. The entire interview is a damning indictment of law enforcement’s mishandling of the shooting, but one new detail bears particular emphasis: According to Gomez, the police subsequently contacted her and said that the media attention she was generating for criticizing them could lead to obstruction of justice charges. (Gomez is on probation for unspecified though decades-old charges.)

This woman was inside the school while shots were being fired. The police knew the shooter was still active and let children die instead of entering the school.

Canada’s Covid rules “stringent and invasive”: EU report

A healthcare law review submitted to the European Parliament in May took aim at the Canadian government for having some of the strictest Covid-19 restrictions in the world.

The report, Right to health, a comparative law perspective: Canada, published by the European Parliamentary Research Service (EPRS) and authored by McGill University law professor Dr Derek Jones, was a survey of the country’s legal system as it pertains to healthcare rights. The EU has published similar reports about other countries.

“Many stringent and invasive public health measures for the Covid pandemic – curfews, capacity-restrictions in restaurants, the closure of bars and nightclubs for months, locking of office buildings, stoppage and restrictions on international travel – have severely curtailed or arrested commercial trade in vital sections of Canada’s economy,” the report said.

The US military is watching China’s presence grow in Latin America, and it doesn’t like where things are going

As the US increases its focus on global competition with China, officials have singled out Beijing’s inroads into Latin America as a growing threat to countries there and to US interests in the region.

At recent congressional hearings and public events, those officials have cautioned that China is investing in digital and physical infrastructure, natural resources and extractive industries, and in political and military relationships across Latin America and the Caribbean in a multipronged effort to secure access and influence and gain leverage over countries there in order to advance its own commercial and strategic interests.

Trudeau Reducing Sentencing Requirements For Serious Gun Crimes

The prime minister is defending a bill his government has before Parliament to reduce sentencing requirements for gun crimes, saying it’s about racial equity.

“What our communities need is a justice system that punishes criminals. What we do not need is a system that targets racialized people because of systemic discrimination,” Trudeau said in the Commons last week.

Almost A Quarter Of Canadians Report Eating Less Than They Should Due To Rising Prices

A new survey suggests a growing number of Canadians are struggling with the rising cost of food as prices for basics like pasta, bread and meat all soar.

The poll from Food Banks Canada indicates hunger and food insecurity are increasing across the country, with lower-income Canadians hit hardest by inflation.

Justin Trudeau’s Heartless Hypocrisy

Gold deposits, along with other precious minerals, in the northern Tigray region appear to be a significant reason behind why Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has not spoken out more forcibly against Ethiopia’s now 18-month-long conflict and all its crimes. The quiet is very much at odds with his pledge that Canada stands for “democracy, peace and security at home and around the world”.

Joe Biden To Take Executive Action On Renewable Energy During War On Fossil Fuels

As gas prices reached an eighth consecutive day record high, Biden has focused on more costly and inaccessible green energy. According to Reuters, Biden will “help bridge a solar panel supply gap and kickstart stalled U.S. projects after an investigation froze imports from key foreign suppliers.”

A source with knowledge of the president’s action told CNN that Biden’s energy strategy is to boost renewable energy by using the Defense Production Act.

Muslim Call To Prayer Arrives To Minneapolis Soundscape

The chant in Arabic blasted from rooftop loudspeakers, drowning out both the growl of traffic from nearby interstates and the chatter and clinking glasses on the patio of the dive bar that shares a wall with Minneapolis’ oldest Somali mosque. Dozens of men in fashionably ripped jeans or impeccably ironed kameez tunics rushed toward the Dar Al-Hijrah mosque. Teens clutched smartphones, and some of the older devout shuffled in with the aid of walkers from the high-rise complex across the street where thousands of Somalis live. This spring Minneapolis became the first large city in the United States to allow the Islamic call to prayer, or adhan, to be broadcast publicly by its two dozen mosques.

The documents further showed that the research, which occurred at Biosafety Level 1/2/3 laboratories, led to dozens of dangerous mishaps, accidents, and spills.

Cheney: January 6 Probe Found Evidence of ‘Extremely Broad,’ Chilling ‘Conspiracy’

Reporter Robert Costa asked, “Are you confident that what you have found as a committee will somehow grab the American people by the lapels and say, ‘Wake up: You have to pay attention’?”

Cheney said, “I am. The threat, and it’s an ongoing threat, you know, we are not in a situation where former President Trump has expressed any sense of remorse about what happened. We are, in fact, in a situation where he continues to use even more extreme language, frankly, than the language that caused the attack. And so, people must pay attention. People must watch, and they must understand how easily our democratic system can unravel if we don’t defend it.”
