Why must everything — from ‘Real Housewives’ to the NFL to yoga — be about race. It is toxic for America

“The Real Housewives of New York” has turned into a tiresome ongoing race spat, and has predictably been rewarded with record-low ratings. The National Football League is playing the “black national anthem.” That effort effectively rebrands “The Star-Spangled Banner” as a white national anthem and further divides America in what is supposed to be a unifying ceremony.

A quiet revolution for our times may have begun

I hope more and more people will find the courage to speak the truth as they see it

I’ve been amazed by the response to my decision to leave my band, Mumford & Sons. The article in which I explained why has now been read 700,000 times and has been republished by newspapers in the UK, the US and Germany. My main hope in publishing it was to restore my own sense of integrity — eroded, I felt, by an apology I made to an extreme but vociferous internet minority who took great exception to what I considered an innocuous tweet to Andy Ngo, the author of a bestselling book about the radicalized far-left. Just as I never anticipated the angry reaction to my unremarkable tweet, I could never have foreseen that my article about the ensuing fuss would have generated so many messages of gratitude. Gratitude for what? Not for leaving the band — although a few people may be glad. It seems as if, in explaining why I felt I could not carry on, I had articulated something that many people feel in their daily lives: self-censorship. In the current febrile political climate, many of us are just too scared to say what we think.

Booksellers group sorry for ‘violent incident’ after promoting ‘anti-trans’ book

The American Booksellers Association apologized Wednesday for a “serious, violent incident” in which it promoted a book about gender dysphoria that critics considered “anti-trans.”

The New York-based nonprofit that represents independent bookstores faced criticism after including Abigail Shrier’s book, “Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters,” in its July “white box” mailing sent to 750 of its member bookstores, Publishers Weekly reported Thursday.

Want to Save America? Don’t Act Like a Conservative.

Chest-Thumpers and ‘Aw, Shucks’ Conservatives Personify the Right’s Love Affair with Losing

Chris Rufo is doing something so spectacularly unconservative, he may need to update his political affiliation: he’s winning.

Last week, Rufo’s successful legislative efforts to ban critical race theory in the classroom found critique in the New York Times. The guest essay conspicuously avoided naming him; then again, it didn’t have to.

Trudeau Using Colonialism To Transform Anglophone Canadians Into Second Class Citizens

“Queen Victoria presided during some of the most brutal years of colonial history — when land was stolen the most, when things like the Indian Act were put into place.”

“The response was prompted by anger and frustration, as more people confront the grim truths of Canada’s residential school system and the country’s colonial legacy.”

So goes what is today a staple of society resulting from the discovery of deceased Indigenous children at former residential schools. Not that this is a post-modern social issue. Our society has been struggling with the treatment of Aboriginal Canadians for at least a century.
