We are told your “carbon footprint” measures the impact of your existence on this planet, your damage to mother Earth, without which somehow the world would remain pristine and wonderful. Then you came along and ruined it. What the big black bear, the deer, or the squirrel does in nature is irrelevant to these people He is a bear, deer, or squirrel and he and all else in nature’s realm belongs. But not you.
This past weekend, New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd added another column to the myriad irrational and hysterical pieces about the “existential threat” climate change allegedly poses to human life.
As I do after almost every piece I read on the internet, I read comments submitted by readers.
One provided me with an epiphany.
It was a comment submitted by New York Times reader “Sophia” of Bangor, Maine:
“I have one child, a daughter, who told me age 8 that she would never have a child because of global warming. She’s now 34 and has never changed her mind. So I will not experience a grandchild. For her wisdom, I am grateful. I would be heartsick if I did have a grandchild who would have to experience the onslaught of changing climate.”
Climate scientist Dr. Willie Soon has urged his fellow academics to pay closer attention to the sun’s activity, which suggests several decades of global cooling rather than warming.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is back on the road doling out hundreds of millions of dollars in climate spending from his Liberal government.
Co-host Joy Behar said, “I’m going to throw my question out and ask you, what about climate change? What are we doing about this? This is, to me, the most urgent question of the decade, of the century maybe. Look at these people in the northwest of this country, 115 degrees in part of Canada. I mean, what is going on with that? Are you guys going to fix that or at least contribute to fixing it?”
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and Sen. Ed Markey are trying to shove a ridiculous $70 billion bill through congress called the “Civilian Climate Corps.”
“We’re working to win a Civilian Climate Corps in the reconciliation package,” Ocasio-Cortez revealed on Twitter. “The last time the US did this, we employed 2M people and had record success in wildfire suppression — one the most rapid peacetime mobilizations in US history. We can revive it to fight climate change.”
The national primary-school English teachers’ association has launched a climate propaganda blitz on the 5- to 14-years-olds placed in their care. The teachers’ just-released manual spruiks intermittent wind and solar and demands an end to coal-fired electricity and fossil fuels. As notes to the manual say,
Chapter 9 is a call for action. Without students taking personal action to mitigate climate change, there is no point to this book.”(P4)
It’s an error-ridden 174-page blueprint that quarantines kids from any acknowledgement that costly wind and solar farms must be backed up by 24-7 baseload power.

If you wondered whether human activity really contributes to global warming, wonder no more.
Buried inside editions of the Washington Post and a few other newspapers last month were stories reporting that despite sharp declines in carbon emissions during the COVID-19 pandemic, carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere remained virtually unchanged.
Funds will be reallocated to bolster “climate resiliency” and invest in clean energy. The request allocates $617 million for ensuring military installations can operate efficiently and recover from infrastructure disruption, R&D for new energy technologies and “climate-informed” wargaming, analysis and contingency planning.
Rooting out the supposed extremism within the military is another focus of the budget, with almost $31 million requested for strengthen tools to “identify and address extremism.”
The climate mobilization in Canada, as I’ve written in previous columns, has yet to feel like a grand societal undertaking. Among the bold initiatives that would send such a signal — a Youth Climate Corps.
In what has to be the most appalling court ruling coming out of western Europe in years, a leftist judge in the Netherlands held Royal Dutch Shell at least in part responsible for global warming and therefore obliged to cut emissions to Paris climate accord-dictated levels, which should put a damper on its productive capacities.
The study, produced by social justice warriors at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, is creating the basis for climate change to be addressed as part of a reparations package for black Americans.
