A group representing Muslim associations in Quebec wants the provincial government to rescind a directive prohibiting the presence of prayer spaces in elementary and high schools.
On Wednesday, Education Minister Bernard Drainville banned school service centres from transforming classrooms into places of prayer.
Islam has no place in our schools.

A son of billionaire George Soros has quietly become a de-facto White House “ambassador,” making at least 14 visits there on behalf of the far-left kingmaker since President Joe Biden took office, records reviewed by The Post show.
Alexander Soros — a prolific Democratic fundraiser in his own right who likes to boast about his relationships with world leaders on social media — scored at least a dozen meetings with White House officials in 2022, according to recently updated White House visitor logs. Soros, 37, also participated in two other confabs there in late 2021, the records show.
India on Thursday strongly condemned another act of hate-motivated vandalism at a Hindu temple in Windsor, a city in Canada’s Ontario, saying that the issue has been taken up with the Justin Trudeau government and it is time for taking action instead of making assurances.
Journalist Matt Taibbi, who broke the sensational “Twitter Files” story that exposed the inner workings of the social media giant’s censorship machine, has announced he’s leaving Twitter in protest of apparent changes that have made the platform unusable for him.
Taibbi, who posts his articles on Substack and is one of the most popular contributors on the platform, made the announcement in a post titled “The Craziest Friday Ever” and a series of tweets, in which he said that he had just learned that Substack links were being blocked on Twitter.
In the dead of night last October a Ukrainian special forces team boarded a 40ft armoured patrol boat, taking up positions at its three heavy machineguns and Mk19 automatic grenade launcher.
They were among nearly 600 elite troops scattered along the north bank of the Dnipro River, which carves through Zaporizhzhia region. The teams boarded more than 30 vessels bristling with weapons, formidable gifts from friends in the West.
Their orders: to launch an assault to recapture the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant from the Russians on the opposite bank.
I drove from Toronto to Montreal in an EV and faced a mutiny halfway
“Can we go?” she said. “What are we waiting for?”
“We’re charging,” my wife told her.
Those few lines defined our 550-kilometre drive to Montreal, which took – I’m embarrassed to admit this – nearly eight hours. Yes, one way.
Double the advertised “fast charging” times, cold weather battery inefficiency & use of winter tires are the reasons given.
The paper’s struggle with trans and slavery issues has created deep divisions
For so many of its 200 years it has portrayed itself as the voice of liberal Britain, a pulpit of high moral thinking and editorial freedom from which others might care to learn. But all is not well in London’s N1. And while no one wants to be on the wrong side of history, The Guardian is “tying itself up in knots” as it tries to avoid that fate.
One year before this spring’s fatal stabbing of a teenager at the Keele subway station in Toronto, the man charged with that crime was in jail. And he was facing more than 70 criminal charges.
But Jordan O’Brien-Tobin, now 22, was about to receive a deal. On March 31, 2022, at Toronto’s Old City Hall court, he entered into a plea bargain for his release under a probation order.

Seeing has not been believing for a very long time. Photos have been faked and manipulated for nearly as long as photography has existed.
Now, not even reality is required for photographs to look authentic — just artificial intelligence responding to a prompt. Even experts sometimes struggle to tell if one is real or not. Can you?
The rapid advent of artificial intelligence has set off alarms that the technology used to trick people is advancing far faster than the technology that can identify the tricks. Tech companies, researchers, photo agencies and news organizations are scrambling to catch up, trying to establish standards for content provenance and ownership.

Can you hear that endless laughter from behind the closed doors of the Prime Minister’s Office? If anything, the past few weeks have proven that PM Justin Trudeau and his political operatives take Canadians for fools. Their audacious announcements and admissions are outrageous.
In response to Canadians’ call for an independent public inquiry into the revelations about the undue influences of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in Canada, the PM hand-picked a longtime family friend to serve as his “special rapporteur” and provide his government counsel on possible next steps – counsel Trudeau signals will not be forthcoming until the end of May.
A new woke TV show based on ‘Grease’ will reportedly feature a new song about White supremacy, with lyrics about the exclusion of those “Jewish, Asian, brown or Black, single woman or gay, on the wrong side of they.”
‘Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies’ is a new TV show that serves as a prequel to the original hit film that debuted in the 1970s. The show is set to take place four years before the original but with various messages about identity politics. Its stated purpose is to explore “sexual orientation, gender expression and racial identity.”
A proposed Canadian law would ban protests within 100m of a Drag Queen Story Hour
Every so often someone expresses concern at the minority of “integralist” Catholic political theorists who propose ordering state power to Christian precepts, sometimes calling them would-be “theocrats”. But in truth, theocracy has been back for a while.
I have a message for everyone trying to shut down drag artists and 2SLGBTQI+ communities in Ontario. We aren't backing down. We're only going to get louder & prouder! Sign the petition at https://t.co/rSWMQfFwIA. #OnPoli pic.twitter.com/1kJq92u2g1
