Sabrina Maddeaux: Freeland’s appalling demand that Air Canada CEO improve French is typical Liberal overreach
The so-called controversy over Air Canada’s CEO not knowing French despite residing in Montreal for 14 years continues to escalate in its absurdity. Last week, CEO Michael Rousseau admitted he couldn’t speak the language in front of reporters, leading to a spiral of outrage and political pandering that apparently has no end in sight.

Singing O Canada is “distasteful and should be replaced”: OCDSB committee

“With respect to standing and singing of O Canada during opening exercises in school, Ms. Miller expressed the opinion that this practice is distasteful and should be replaced with something more healthy and positive,” the council meeting’s minutes describe.
“Chair Manatch suggested that Indigenous students be permitted to sit and not participate in the singing of O Canada. Elder Dumont expressed the opinion that the government of Canada needs to hold people accountable for the deaths of students at residential schools.”

Greener—and Poorer – Lower-income people shoulder a disproportionate share of the costs of California’s environmental policies.

The Biden-Harris administration has praised California’s progressive elected officials as model leaders on climate and environmental issues. But what have those state leaders and their policies actually produced? A fixation on renewable energy, along with the closure of natural gas and nuclear plants, has helped drive the cost of electricity and gas in California higher than anywhere else in the continental U.S. And the lion’s share of these costs is borne by low-income families. Adjusted for cost of living, California has the nation’s highest poverty rate—about 7.1 million people—due in part to the high costs of essentials like housing, gas, and electricity.

‘Rust’ armorer’s ‘mentor’ reportedly supplied Alec Baldwin’s deadly Colt .45

The rookie armorer on “Rust” reportedly had a mysterious “mentor” on set — who supplied the gun Alec Baldwin used when he accidentally shot dead his cinematographer.
Seth Kenney, who owns an Arizona weapons and props rental company, was hired in late September to be an “armorer mentor” for Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, according to an internal crew list obtained by the Los Angeles Times.
Kenney, 51, had even suggested Gutierrez-Reed, 24, for the key armorer gig, despite her having only been in charge of weapons in one other movie, a source told the paper.
GOLDSTEIN: Ontario likely to run deficits until at least 2040, says report

The growing impact of Ontario’s aging population on provincial finances makes it unlikely the government will deliver a balanced budget until at least 2040, according to a new study by the Fraser Institute.
Turkey: Drifting Further into Russian Orbit

Turkey has been a NATO ally since 1952. On October 6, NATO’s childishly naïve secretary-general, Jens Stoltenberg, praised Turkey as “an important ally [that] played an important role in defeating Daesh.” Both of his suggestions are grossly incorrect: Turkey is becoming an important Russian ally, not a NATO ally, whose irregular militia allies in Syria are the jihadist remnants of Daesh (Islamic State).
Like a spurned lover, deeply offended by President Joe Biden’s refusal to meet him on the sidelines of September’s UN General Assembly meeting in New York, Turkey’s Islamist President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan rushed to the Black Sea town of Sochi, Russia, on September 29 for a tête-a-tête with Russian President Vladimir Putin. On his way back from New York, Erdoğan told reporters, “the signs are not good in Turkey’s relations with the United States.”
Faced with soaring Ds and Fs, schools are ditching the old way of grading
“It was literally inequitable,” he said. “As a teacher you get frustrated because what you signed up for was for students to learn. And it just ended up being a conversation about points all the time.”

Shamima Begum’s jihadi husband refuses to condemn beheadings or the use of sex slaves

Shamima Begum’s jihadi husband has refused to condemn ISIS beheadings or the use of sex slaves and said he still hopes to see a caliphate established.
Speaking in an interview from detention centre in northern Syria, Yago Riedijk, 29, described the couple’s ‘beautiful’ former life under the extremist group.
He said ISIS-claimed attacks on the West were not ‘Islamicly responsible’ because they involved killing innocent people which is ‘prohibited in Islam’ but refused to condemn the group’s violence against Yazidis, who were sold as sex slaves, and other Muslims.
Belarus migrants: EU accuses Lukashenko of gangster-style abuse

The European Commission has accused Belarus’s authoritarian leader of luring migrants with the false promise of easy entry to the EU as part of an “inhuman, gangster-style approach”.
At least 2,000 migrants are now at the Belarus border with Poland.
“Upon arrival they are being pushed to the border and forced to make an illegal entry into the European Union,” said Commission spokesman Peter Stano.
Belarus’s leader Alexander Lukashenko denies orchestrating the problem.
