Police carrying out a drugs raid on a cannabis farm in southern Italy have seized a stash of 235 frozen dormice – said to be a mafia delicacy.
After discovering more than 700 cannabis plants, police searched outbuildings and found cages of dormice and freezers filled with carcasses.
Three people at the site were arrested.
Wildlife groups say baked dormice are served to honour high-ranking gangsters at banquets organised by the powerful Calabrian ‘Ndrangheta mafia clan.

Ontario reported 443 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, as the known active caseload in the province hit its lowest point in more than two months.
The seven-day rolling average of new cases now stands at 465, down from 538 one week ago.

Public Safety Minister Bill Blair says he’s ‘very confident’ that Canadians will have a national vaccine passport in place by the time the U.S. border reopens for non-essential travel on Nov. 8.
While Blair said he always tries to “overperform and under-promise,” he noted that work on the federal proof of COVID-19 vaccination system has been progressing “very, very well.”

Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw said on Thursday that the provincial government will no longer report COVID-related deaths in individuals under the age of 18 after falsely claiming earlier this week that a 14-year-old boy died from COVID-19.
As many as 17 Christian missionaries from the United States and their family members, including women and children, were kidnapped on Saturday by a gang in Port-au-Prince as they were leaving an orphanage, according to Haitian security officials.
Details of the kidnapping remained unclear, but local officials said the missionaries were abducted from a bus headed to the airport to drop off some members of the group before continuing to another destination.
This is simultaneously a dumb & clever move by the politicians. Dumb, because it weakens the system, clever because it will keep the atmosphere of fear and crisis going on even longer.
