MINNEAPOLIS—Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison announced Friday that his office will lead the prosecution of a former suburban police officer who is charged with second-degree manslaughter in the death of Daunte Wright.
Former Brooklyn Center Officer Kim Potter, who fatally shot Wright, a 20-year-old motorist, on April 11. The city’s police chief, who has since stepped down, had said he believed Potter meant to use her Taser instead of her handgun.
The Western media exaggerates the reality of asymmetric conflict
Earlier this week, an Israeli soldier was wounded by a Hamas mortar bomb while guarding a convoy of heavy trucks loaded with medical supplies, food and fuel at the Erez crossing between Israel and Gaza. Yes, it was in Israel’s interest to reduce the suffering of Gaza’s inhabitants while it pursued its campaign to protect its own population by finding and destroying Hamas and Islamic Jihad rockets stored in basements and underground tunnels: the less suffering and death, the less diplomatic pressure on Israel (particularly from the US) to call off its campaign unilaterally.
For the same reason, it was in Israel’s interest to accept extraordinary limitations on its bombing.
After Texas became the first state to eliminate both its face mask mandate and its business occupancy limits in early March, President Joe Biden said the decision reflected “Neanderthal thinking.” Gilberto Hinojosa, chairman of the Texas Democratic Party, described Gov. Greg Abbott’s order as “extraordinarily dangerous,” warning that it “will kill Texans.”

This week, the International Energy Agency made what was at least taken as a stunning announcement: Unless all investment in new coal-fired power plant construction and oil and gas development are immediately halted, the world will fail to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
In a sense, this headline item might seem obvious. It is literally true that carbon emissions will continue as long as we burn carbon-based fuels. But beyond that, the report is so filled with foolishness that it is difficult to know where to start debunking it.
