Senators Demand Answers From Secret Service Over Hunter Biden Gun Scandal

In what appears to be just the latest scandal engulfing the first family, compliments of Hunter, Politico reported that his sister-in-law, with whom he was having a romantic relationship at the time, seized a handgun from his pickup truck, took it to a dumpster behind a local upscale grocery store, and proceeded to chuck the gun inside.

Later, after telling Hunter what she had tone, Hallie Biden went back to retrieve the .38 revolver on Hunter’s instructions but it wasn’t there. Turns out that a man who frequently digs rummages through the trash bin found the gun and turned it over to the grocer.

At some point, the Politico report notes, Secret Service agents stationed in Wilmington, Del., where Biden, the then-ex-VP lives, visited the gun store where Hunter bought the weapon and asked for the sales paperwork. Fearing the agents were simply going to take the paperwork and memory hole it, he refused to give it up; later, agents from the ATF showed up to inspect the sales records.

But what was the Secret Service doing getting involved in what appeared to be a lover’s spat, especially since Joe Biden was not under protection by the agency at the time? Why would the agents attempt to confiscate the gun sales record?

Chinese diplomat cranks up rhetoric with insults against ‘running dog’ ‘boy’ Justin Trudeau

A Chinese diplomat called Justin Trudeau “boy” in a sneering attack on the Canadian prime minister that comes as Beijing sees fresh signs of success in its ongoing shift to confrontational diplomacy — particularly against countries it sees as weaker.

“Boy, your greatest achievement is to have ruined the friendly relations between China and Canada, and have turned Canada into a running dog of the U.S.,” Li Yang, China’s consul general to Rio de Janeiro, wrote this weekend in a Tweet accompanying a picture of Mr. Trudeau.

Personally I suspect most heads of state think of Justin as an airhead.

WHO slammed for saying COVID-19 likely didn’t originate from Wuhan lab

The World Health Organization is being slammed as Beijing’s “useful idiots” after it dismissed as “extremely unlikely” the theory that the deadly bug escaped from a Wuhan lab.

A joint WHO-China study on the origins of the pandemic says that transmission of SARS-CoV-2 from bats to humans through another animal is the most likely scenario, according to a draft copy obtained by The Associated Press.

The report’s release has been delayed, raising questions about Beijing’s side trying to skew the conclusions to prevent blame for the pandemic falling on China.

Here’s what we know about Yannick Bandaogo the man charged in the fatal North Vancouver stabbing rampage

…The RCMP said police were investigating Bandaogo’s “background, history in B.C. and relationship to the victims”.

Court record searches in B.C. turned up no one of that name.

However, according to a Postmedia News search of court records in Quebec there was an arrest warrant issued in Sept. 2020 for a 28-year-old man called Yannick Bandaogo.

Assault charges, all from Quebec, this suggests the possibility he is a “migrant” of some type.

Massive ship Ever Given that was stuck in Suez Canal finally freed

SUEZ, Egypt — Salvage teams on Monday set free a colossal container ship that has halted global trade through the Suez Canal, a canal services firm said, bringing an end to a crisis that for nearly a week clogged one of the world’s most vital maritime arteries.

Helped by the peak of high tide, a flotilla of tugboats managed to wrench the bulbous bow of the skyscraper-sized Ever Given from the canal’s sandy bank, where it had been firmly lodged since last Tuesday.

Obama Quote from 2005 Makes the Perfect Counter-Argument to Dems’ Filibuster Power-Grab

It’s not like we didn’t see this coming.

As the 2020 election process unfolded, Democrats came to an inexorable conclusion: They could very plausibly take the White House and the Senate, and they could plausibly hold the House, but their victories in those three areas wouldn’t be resounding or historic.

Whoever was nominated, if they won, would win modestly. Once it became clear the nominee was Joe Biden, the polls showed him consistently ahead — but every time he’d start opening up a big lead nationally, it’d snap back like a rubber band. In swing states, that lead was less consistent and considerably smaller, when it existed at all. There was going to be no repudiation of the Republicans or Trumpism.

And most importantly, they weren’t going to get anything near the 60 votes they would need in the Senate to end the filibuster. There was no landslide on tap, no resounding defeat that would force moderate Republicans, tails between their elephantine legs, to vote with them.

Thus, the drum began to be banged, and hard: End the filibuster. Mind you, the first drum majors in the band were on the left fringe. In the Democratic field, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren and billionaire tartan-tie enthusiast Tom Steyer were the first candidates whose poll numbers didn’t have to be measured with electron microscopy to embrace it.
