Canadian blogging pioneer and friend of Legal Insurrection Kathy Shaidle passed away today after a battle with Ovarian cancer.
Kathy was one of the first people I met “virtually” after starting Legal Insurrection in October 2008. The following couple of years were the glory years of the conservative blogosphere, where bloggers shared links and communicated on large email chains, not social media. We might need to go back to that.

More and more, the Democratic Party and its sycophantic supporters are becoming the UN-Democratic Party replete with group-think authoritarians who despise dissent and seek to punish anyone who doesn’t jump on their bandwagon.

New Brunswick reported 30 new cases of COVID-19 Saturday and said multiple schools now have infections.

The anti-Trump Lincoln Project is building a database of Trump officials and staffers with the intention of holding those people professionally “accountable” for supporting the president, according to Stuart Stevens, a Republican operative who works with the Lincoln Project.

Unsurprisingly, much of the coverage in the media has focused on supposed provincial government failures in vaccine distribution. Yet, while provincial leaders deserve criticism for many things, the vaccine rollout isn’t one of them.
Rather, this is a clear failure of the Trudeau federal government.

“Woke” as a term originated in the 1940s. Oxford Dictionaries recorded its early politically conscious usage in a 1962 article, “If You’re Woke You Dig It” by William Melvin Kelley in The New York Times. The term has reared its ugly head again recently as a concept symbolizing perceived awareness of social issues and enlightened social movement. By the late 2010s, woke had been adopted as a generic slang term broadly associated with left-wing politics, social justice activism and progressive or socially liberal causes such as anti-racism.
Congress certified the Electoral College vote for Joe Biden in the middle of the night, just like how Jesus was convicted by the Jewish high priests in the middle of the night, just like five states committed election fraud last Nov. 3-4 in the middle of the night.
As AOC is arguably one of the more lucid of the House radicals it would do us well to remember this does not represent a view of the actual sentiment of the more radical members of the House…which now includes Nancy Pelosi. It is the sanitized for public consumption version. It would also serve us well to take her at her word.
Justin Trudeau announced vindictive and pointless testing requirements for Canadians who are hoping to return home to Canada.
Much has been asked of Canada’s federal and provincial governments over the last year, but it’s probably fair to say that the rollout of coronavirus vaccines is the most important responsibility those governments have had in our lifetimes.
And while Canadians should have realistic expectations and some degree of patience, we are very much entitled to state loudly and clearly: “Do not screw this up.”
Perhaps it’s inevitable that some level of “screw up” is going to be baked in to any government endeavor, especially those of the large and complex variety. Incompetence is not inevitable, however, and we should not be satisfied with “good enough.”
Toronto Star columnist Gillian Steward wrote a critical piece on the Buffalo Declaration, mocking it as “riding the hobby horse of victimhood.” There are many responses that quickly come to mind for her run-of-the-mill, pro-centralist claims, but there’s one that needs special attention.
She writes that the four Conservative MPs who signed the Buffalo Declaration, “must have forgotten that they took an oath of loyalty to The Crown and Canada because the Buffalo Declaration warns that if the federal government doesn’t give Alberta exactly what it wants then a referendum on independence is ‘inevitable.’”

A Florida man allegedly photographed grinning as he carried away House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s lectern after a mob of President Donald Trump’s supporters stormed the nation’s Capitol is among the latest people charged in Wednesday’s mayhem that left five people dead.

President Trump may yet release documents that show how the Democrats broke the law for years in their attempts to overturn the 2016 election.

Chief Stephen Tanner of Halton Regional Police Service travelled out of the locked-down province of Ontario to Florida, allegedly to take care of personal business.

I mean, how many times are we going to see this happen within the world of white liberals? Rachel Dolezal, Elizabeth Warren, Hillary Baldwin (not calling her Hilaria), and now some human rights lawyer who claimed to be Puerto Rican and Colombian but is really some white girl from Georgia. It’s the liberal America exception again, folks. It’s bad to culturally appropriate. It might be racist, and you should be shamed and destroyed for doing so, but if you’re a liberal and fighting for like-minded causes — it’s ok. You get a hall pass. Alas, the lack of principles at the core of American liberalism. It’s nothing but rot.

The latest tyranny comes from the social media giants. I always thought Glenn Greenwald was too extreme left for me, but he nails it here.

The mayor of a small city in B.C.’s Southern Interior has resigned from his post, citing backlash and anguish for apparently visiting a family cabin two hours away.

The vaccine rollout in New York and other blue states has been an inept disaster. Governor Andrew Cuomo, true to form, decided to blame Orthodox Jews, ranting that the Parcare clinic in Brooklyn had dared to vaccinate a 79-year-old Rabbi ahead of “essential workers”. Meanwhile massive amounts of vaccine doses are being thrown out because they’re going bad because the essential workers they’re meant for, mostly minorities, don’t actually want them.

Following Wednesday’s violent attacks on the Capitol building, virtually all major social media platforms decided to suspend President Donald Trump, accusing him of inciting violence. The latest tech giant to remove the president’s account was Twitter, a network he has often used to communicate with supporters and opponents alike.
Almost immediately after he was banned, Trump returned to Twitter using the @POTUS account. As The Hill reported, in a series of messages that have since been removed, the commander-in-chief floated the idea of launching his own network in order to avoid censorship and allow conservatives to have a voice.
