Parents normally send their children to school (or park them at the computer for pretend school) to learn academic disciplines, including English, math, science, and history. But in most public and some private schools, more and more time is being redirected from academic instruction to “social-emotional learning” (SEL)—the cultivation not of knowledge but of the “correct” attitudes, beliefs, opinions, and behaviors.

As any student of George Orwell knows, no authoritarian government can ever gain complete control unless it commandeers people’s thinking through the manipulation of language. Thus, the dystopian powers in “1984” deliberately turned the meaning of words upside-down in a process known as double-think.
The same process is happening today with the words used to discuss racism. In true Orwellian fashion, Ibram X. Kendi (pictured) insists that the only way to fight racism is to embrace racial discrimination in perpetuity. This “anti-racism,” as he calls it, is as likely to stamp out genuine racism as Orwell’s Ministry of Truth was apt to stamp out falsehoods.

Non-Hispanic whites in America have shrunk by 8.6% over the last decade alone and now account for 57.8% of the U.S. population – the lowest share ever.
According to Rubin, this is marvelous.
“A more diverse, more inclusive society,” Rubin remarked on Twitter. “This is fabulous news.”

On July 29, District Court Judge Peter Cahill, the presiding judge in the trials of the four Minneapolis police officers indicted for the death of George Floyd, ordered the release of an exhibit memorandum that reveals a miscarriage of justice and criminal coercion of a witness.

The Department of Justice and the FBI have a message for local police departments: start charging more white people with hate crimes or invite an investigation.
Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta told an assembly of FBI agents yesterday that they are now tasked with hounding police departments in their district if they do not register any “hate crimes.”

Racism is now King of All Sins. As I showed in Letter to a ‘Racist’ Nation, America has become a seller’s market for rumors of white racism. Time after time, fake racist incidents have been puffed up in the national media to meet the left’s insatiable demand.

I love being a teacher and I care a great deal about my students, almost all of whom are non-white. This past 2020/21 school year was a sad and worrisome turning point for me as an educator. Providence K-8 teachers were introduced to one of the most racially divisive, hateful, and in large part, historically inaccurate curriculums I have ever seen in my teaching career.
Yes, I am speaking about the controversial critical race theory that has infiltrated our public schools here in Rhode Island under the umbrella of Cuturally Responsive learning and teaching, which includes a focus on identities. You won’t see the words “critical race theory” on the materials, but those are the concepts taught. The new, racialized curriculum and materials focuses almost exclusively on an oppressor-oppressed narrative, and have created racial tensions among students and staff where none existed before.

California educators are the latest to push for so-called “equity” in mathematics through the adoption of a curriculum that allegedly seeks to rid those courses of “white supremacy culture,” as the subject got renewed attention this week.

The U.S. hammer-thrower who turned away from the American flag during the national anthem at an Olympic trial wrote about drunk “white people” being “sooo retarded” and made light of rape in her early 20s.

Born in Saudi Arabia, Hana Mae Nassar’s messaging to Canadians captures something fundamental about the state of contemporary society:
“The country’s relationship with Indigenous people isn’t the only thing Canadians have been reflecting on lately. Legislation targeting Chinese immigrants, the internment of Japanese Canadians, the Komagata Maru tragedy, and the various killings of Muslim Canadians are just some of the events that have tarnished this country’s history with immigrants and racialized people.”
Hana Mae Nassar is unimpressed with Canada. It matters not that our government accepted her into our country in the year 2006. Nor does the fact that neither she, nor her family, lived in Canada at the time of the Chinese Head Tax. Irrelevant it is that the Komagata Maru incident– the flimsiest claim of historical racism ever–had zero impact upon Nasser, or her family.

Just last week, the Austin American-Statesman refused to provide the description of a black man suspected of participating in a mass shooting in Texas because it “could be harmful in perpetuating stereotypes.”
Now, the Poynter Institute for Media Studies is calling for selective covering of crime in American communities — this coming amid a major crime surge in Democrat-run cities across the country, happening in the vacuum of the party’s “Defund the Police” campaign that not only demonized law enforcement, but has police officers back on their heels.

Official anti-racist materials being deployed by Global Affairs Canada contain some mighty provocative statements:
“One of the documents on which the Global Affairs material is based informs recipients that “all European immigrants did not and do not become white at the same time (Irish, Italians, Jews).”
“Becoming white involves giving up parts of your original culture in order to get the advantages and privileges of belonging to the white group.”

Critical Race Theory reared its ugly head in the Journal of the American Psychoanalytic Association when Donald Ross, a San Francisco–based psychoanalyst (and teacher), shared with the world the fact that “whiteness” is a “malignant, parasitic-like condition.” One of his colleagues was also good enough to offer an approving review in the same issue.

Complaints over the Jaguars signing Tim Tebow while Colin Kaepernick is still sidelined demonstrate the dangers.
