We’ve had the Reichstag fire – what’s next?

Let’s see. Let’s not forget that we currently also have the purge of the armed forces to root out those defined as extremists on the right. It’s not the same as a personal loyalty oath to the leader that was required of the German military under Hitler, but it’s a way to make sure our military is composed of people unlikely to turn on the left no matter what.

Impeachment blunder: Author of tweet introduced at trial says it was falsified, misinterpreted

The author of a tweet introduced by Democrats at the Senate impeachment trial said Thursday her statement “we are bringing the Calvary” was a clear reference to a prayer vigil organized by churchgoers supporting Trump and not a call for military-like violence at the Capitol riot as portrayed by Rep. Eric Swalwell.

Jennifer Lynn Lawrence also said she believes the California Democrat and House impeachment manager falsified her tweet, adding a blue check mark to the version he introduced at the trial suggesting she was a verified Twitter user with more clout when in fact her Twitter account never had a blue check and has never been verified.

Trump’s Impeachment and Stalin’s Show Trials

As the second impeachment trial of Donald Trump continues, Stream readers are likely puzzled. As sane people and patriots, they had certain expectations from America. Even its Democrats, even those in Congress. But the old rules no longer apply. We’re out in uncharted waters now, and it feels as if anything could happen.

There’s no Supreme Court Chief Justice in charge. Instead, the presiding “judge” is a partisan Democrat senator who has already decided that the defendant is guilty. By fair means or foul, Trump is no longer president, so he can’t be removed from office. The hope is to make him ineligible to run again for office — which would amount to a “bill of attainder,” one of the few things specifically forbidden in the words of our Constitution.

Meet the BLM Activist Who Helped Direct the January 6 Capitol Incident

The events of January 6 were never as straightforward as they were depicted by those seeking an excuse to criminalize political opposition. Consider this characterization of the day: “Trump Supporters and Proud Boys stormed the United States Capitol and attempted a coup on our Democracy. Jan 6th, 2021, the moment that changed America forever.”

Those lines by themselves are not especially interesting. It’s who wrote them that should raise eyebrows.

Meet John E. Sullivan, founder of Insurgence USA.

‘A Personalized Power Like We Haven’t Seen’: ABC Reporter Says Trump Is A ‘Caesar’ And ‘Fuhrer’ To The Republican Party

“Whatever you think of this case, they’ve risen to the moment. This is an atrocity in our history, an atrocity against our democracy, and the care with which the Democratic House managers of this impeachment trial have come prepared, their argument is organized,” Moran said. “They’re ringing the notes of patriotism and the emotion of the attack itself, and surrounding that with what they hope is an evidentiary trail from Donald Trump to that attack. That is their challenge here.”

Tucker Carlson Lays out Some Uncomfortable Questions About the Capitol Riot

Recently, RedState reported on a CNN article that included a very interesting passage regarding the death of Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick, who passed sometime after the Capitol riot on January 6th. Though a story that he had been beaten to death by a fire extinguisher had spread far and wide in the media, it turns out that an investigation found no signs of trauma on his body, nor have investigators been able to find any video of him sustaining wounds that could have taken his life. The latest theory by investigators is that he may have had a reaction to pepper spray being used that day, though that’s purely speculation at this point.

Establishment Media Express Collective Outrage over Democrats’ Impeachment Video

Several members of the media took to Twitter to express outrage over the House Democrats’ selectively edited impeachment trial video.

Impeachment manager Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), who previously objected to results from Donald Trump’s 2016 victory, showed a dramatic video that spliced together Trump’s statements with protesters who attacked the Capitol.

The video, for example, edited out Trump’s remark to his supporters to “peacefully make their voices heard.”

When Education Becomes (Literal) Indoctrination

On Feb. 16, a joint committee of the state legislature will decide whether to turn into a legal requirement the State Board of Education’s recommendation that — until a slight rewording — would mandate that all public-school teachers “embrace and encourage progressive viewpoints and perspectives.” If the board’s policy is ratified, Illinois will become a place congenial only for parents who are comfortable consigning their children to “education” that is political indoctrination, audaciously announced and comprehensively enforced.

Will a Hard-Left Turn Lead to Pushback?

When Biden made a Faustian bargain with his party’s hard-left wing of Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to win the election, he took on the commitment to absorb some of their agenda and to appoint their ideologues.

But he also soon became either unwilling or unable to stand up to them.

Tucker Carlson Ruthlessly Mocks Ex-Colleague Shep Smith

Fox News host Tucker Carlson spoke out on Thursday night to relentlessly mock his former colleague Shep Smith, continuing the longstanding feud they have.

Smith left Fox News at the end of 2019, and he has since taken a job hosting on CNBC, where he has vowed to “fight disinformation.” Carlson went after Smith on his show on Thursday night for a story his former coworker recently covered.

“Tonight we bring you the story of a genuine investigative journalist,” Carlson said mockingly. “A man who’s been forgotten. Cast aside like an Acosta when he should be an Edward R. Murrow. That’s an injustice we plan to rectify right now.”

Hillary Can Still Be Impeached, And the Dems Are About to Accidentally Open Pandora’s Box

Democrats are acting really smug these days. They think that having control of the whole show lets them do as they please. They forget that the laws of physics can’t be broken, even by George Soros. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

Then there is the law of Karma. The one that works out to “what comes around goes around.” They may want to think twice before opening Pandora’s box on impeachment because it could come back to haunt Hillary Clinton, just to pick one name from the hat. If Trump can be impeached retroactively, she can too. So can Eric Holder and Barack Obama. Democrats are warned to be careful what they ask for because they might get it.
