Woke Battle Brews At PBS: Why Does One White, Male Filmmaker Get All The Support?

Is it time to cancel Ken Burns at PBS? It’s not easy being a white, male, cisgender filmmaker these days over at the taxpayer-funded public television network. Burns has achieved immense success for his documentaries made for PBS and has been generously rewarded for his work there. A group of nearly 140 filmmakers and other professionals is blasting PBS for a lack of diversity behind the scenes. Their complaint says there is just too much Ken Burns.

If I recall correctly Burns was pressured to include the “Black experience” in his WW II documentary. That production was such a dud they should probably ask that those segments be cut. The sound track alone turned me off and I have never been able to watch the whole thing.

The Georgia House strikes back at Delta

Just as Georgia was a flashpoint after the election because of the run-off election for the Senate, Georgia is again a flashpoint now that the Democrats, led by Creepy Joe, are demonizing the sensible steps the Georgia Legislature enacted to prevent election fraud. What’s amusing about the Democrats’ histrionics is watching as corporations that have earned brownie points for years by being woke, are getting slapped around by the left for not being woke enough. Even funnier is that, when Delta Airlines responded by “woking up,” the Georgia House stepped in to slap it around some more.

The Latest Canceling at Vanderbilt Shows That Everyone Is Awful and We Are All Doomed

The latest episode of cancel culture at Vanderbilt University should terrify Americans.

This is a harbinger of the damage the woke “social justice” mob can do when there are no adults in the room, and a cautionary tale about the dangers of not standing up to the ridiculous standards of modern outrage.

Last month, Vanderbilt University held its elections for the president and vice president of student government. The two leading campaigns pitted Jordan Gould and Amisha Mittal against Hannah Bruns and Kayla Prowell.

Shortly after the campaign began, rumors swirled that Gould, who is Jewish, attended a Sigma Chi fraternity event that broke the fraternity into North and South teams, with games and events loosely based on the Civil War. Cue the outrage.

‘Dig Deep’: Students At Catholic School Instructed To Describe How They Benefit From White Privilege

“How do you benefit from white privilege, and how have you held onto that benefit (despite knowing the harm it does)?” one question presented to 11th-graders in an ethics class at Loyola Academy, a Jesuit school, said, according to Fox News.

“What have you learned about the ways you have specifically wield[ed] this privilege that do harm (whether you intend to or not)?” the next question said, also instructing students not to “sugar coat” and to avoid describing the positive things they’ve done with their “privilege.”

Sports viewers shift habits as social justice messaging increases: poll

One-third of Americans say they are watching less professional sports due to social justice messaging from players, leagues and teams, according to a new poll released this week.

A YouGov/Yahoo News survey found that 34 percent of respondents said they are watching pro sports less frequently due to calls for racial justice from sports figures, with 11 percent saying they now watch more often.

A majority, more than 56 percent, said they are watching about the same amount of pro sports as they were before calls for racial justice were renewed.

The pandemic schedule interruptions also play a role in breaking what for many was mere habit. A lot of these ex-viewers will have discovered they had better things to do all along.

Hostages of the Cult

Everything is getting real stupid real fast.

I could leave it at that and go ice-fishing for the rest of the day. But I suppose I ought to flesh it out a bit. From a contributor to The New York Times and EsquireDamon Young:

Whiteness is a public health crisis. It shortens life expectancies, it pollutes air, it constricts equilibrium, it devastates forests, it melts ice caps, it sparks (and funds) wars, it flattens dialects, it infests consciousnesses, and it kills people—white people and people who are not white, my mom included. There will be people who die, in 2050, because of white supremacy-induced decisions from 1850.

Writing music down like Mozart did is ‘white hegemony’, proposed reform of Oxford’s curriculum reportedly claims

Teaching music at Oxford may soon be less about writing notation and conducting orchestras, and more about which artists hated Donald Trump’s use of their works without permission, proposed reform reportedly suggests.

One of the most prestigious universities in the UK plans to overhaul its music courses for undergraduates to steer them away from elements of ‘colonialism’ and ‘white supremacy’, the Telegraph reported, citing internal documents. The supposedly problematic parts of the curriculum include the study of musical notation, described as a “colonialist representational system.”
