Written by Karl Widerquist, a Professor of Philosophy at Georgetown University-Qatar, the piece argues that “one of the most transformative things Democrats could do with their narrow majority in Congress would be to grant statehood to all the remaining inhabited US territories”: Washington DC, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and the Mariana Islands.
The article – “The Case For Five New States” – argues that doing so would assist in “ending the whiteness of Congress.” “These territories have so far been prevented from becoming states as part of a larger, long-standing project to keep the Senate and Electoral College White,” it argues before adding “given American history, it’s reasonable to believe that their ethnic makeup is a primary reason why they are not states already.”

Countless articles criticize and dissect the lack of minorities in photography. Conversations like #blacklivesmatter are rising in volume.
So why do we still have a diversity problem in nature photography? A large part of it is because we don’t quite understand it. We don’t know how to begin. We don’t know how to address things without the situation becoming uncomfortable. We don’t know how to take action.
That’s why for this article, we sat down with Girls Who Click (GWC) partner photographers Inka Cresswell, Karen Kasmauski, and Amy Marquis, and GWC Ambassador Celina Chien, to talk about the issue, their experiences as women of color, and specific actions that we all can take to create a more inclusive environment.

A report on this noxious development made it to Tucker Carlson Tonight on the Fox News channel on April 13 when DePaul University professor Jason Hill, Ph.D. – who is Black – appeared on the program. Hill called what is taking place in Boston “political eugenics in the medical field.” He said that it’s using “a reparations framework” to “advance Critical Race Theory.” “It’s racist,” he added. “It’s using health care to advance the socialist system.” Hill also noted:
I think for the first time, we are seeing hospitals that are being used by doctors as indoctrination centers and advancing their own politicized views that are using Critical Race Theory, which is a nefarious and quite racist kind of doctrine.

Still, as anti-Asian crimes have risen across the country, blue check marks on Twitter have placed the blame on former President Donald Trump and white supremacy. That the Left seems to need to blame every ailment of society at the feet of white people, conservatives, and Trump himself lacks any form of seriousness. While there are some violent perpetrators who are white, conservative, or Trump supporters, FBI statistics suggest that most anti-Asian violence has come from black perpetrators. Refusing to look at these statistics represents a refusal to take seriously the lives and security of Asian Americans.
