SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — San Francisco residents voted overwhelmingly Tuesday to recall progressive District Attorney Chesa Boudin following a heated campaign that captivated the country and bitterly divided Democrats over crime, policing and public safety reform in the famously liberal city.

Recall proponents cheered the results at a victory party, with California state leaders of the hotel and retailers associations lauding Boudin’s removal as a sign that visitors, shoppers and workers will be prioritized again in a city that relies heavily on tourism. They rejected Boudin’s efforts to paint them as Republicans.

“This election does not mean that San Francisco has drifted to the far right on our approach to criminal justice,” said Mary Jung, a chair of the recall campaign, in a statement. “In fact, San Francisco has been a national beacon for progressive criminal justice reform for decades and will continue to do so with new leadership.”

Handgun sales are ‘insane’ after Ottawa unveiled plan to ban them, store owners say

OTTAWA –A week after the federal government proposed to freeze handgun sales and bring in tougher measures to curb illegal gun violence, gun vendors say handguns are flying off the shelves.

“It’s insane,” said an employee at a York Region firearms store.

Sales are “going crazy,” said Sylvia Shi, manager of Solely Outdoors in Markham.

“It’s very busy. We sold over a couple of hundred handguns in three days,” she said, adding business has “more than tripled” the usual pace, before politely saying she had no more time to speak.

It’s actually 100% green energy that could destroy the planet

The untold story about “green energy” is that it can’t possibly be scaled up to provide anywhere near the energy to replace fossil fuels (unless we are headed back to the stone ages, which is what some of the “de-growth” advocates favor).

Right now, the United States gets about 70% of its energy from fossil fuels. To go to zero over the next 20 years would be economically catastrophic and cost tens of millions of jobs. With gas prices at nearly double their price back from when Donald Trump left office and inflation up from 1.5% to 8% in just 15 months, we are already experiencing the economic damage from the green energy crusaders.

Ross Wightman from B.C. is one of the first Canadians to receive compensation from the federal government for sustaining injuries after receiving a Covid-19 vaccine shot.

Wightman received the AstraZeneca vaccine in April 2021 and was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) shortly after. The condition left him partially paralyzed.

Footage shows police leading the handcuffed man – dressed in a yellow hoodie, dark tracksuit trousers and red trainers – to a black BMW and shutting him inside. Just a short distance away, the man’s own car sits buried in the front window of a perfume shop, as badly wounded people he just ran over lie on the pavement.

The suspect, who lives in Berlin, is known to police for ‘property crime’, Bild reported.

In a mere 30 minutes, Waterloo Regional District School board (WRDSB) trustees voted 6-3 Monday to sanction the board’s only black trustee Mike Ramsay over a Code of Conduct complaint that has apparently been in the works since February.

Some six of the board’s trustees – all of them left-leaning – appeared gleeful as they voted to apply the maximum number of sanctions available to them.

These include barring Ramsay from all committees of the whole and in-camera meetings until September 30, essentially the end of the current term.
