As the novel coronavirus pandemic drags on, a new Ipsos poll suggests most Canadians are growing pessimistic that life will return to some semblance of normal later this year.

The poll, conducted exclusively for Global News, found that despite the arrival of multiple vaccines to combat the pandemic — and promises that every adult will have access to one by September — only 28 per cent of those surveyed expect things to start to feel normal by this winter.

China launches COVID-19 vaccination certificates for cross-border travel

As vaccines are globally being rolled out, a few countries, including Bahrain, have already introduced certificates identifying vaccinated people and the European Union agreed to develop vaccine passports under pressure from tourism-dependent southern countries.

The certificate issued by China would have details about the holder’s COVID-19 vaccination information and coronavirus test results, the Department of Consular Affairs under China’s foreign ministry said on its website.

Soldier Who Made An Attempt on Trudeau’s Life Sentenced to Six Years in Prison

A Canadian soldier who crashed his truck through security gates around Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s home and prowled the grounds with three loaded guns was sentenced to six years in prison on Wednesday.

“Corey Hurren committed a politically motivated armed assault intended to intimidate Canada’s elected government,” Judge Robert Wadden of the Ontario Court of Justice in Ottawa said in his sentencing verdict.
