Crime: Ontario recovers $11M in missing COVID-19 funds

The Ontario government has recovered more than $11 million in COVID-19 relief funds that were allegedly stolen, the Star has learned.

As first disclosed two months ago, the money was allegedly embezzled from the $378-million Support for Families program launched by Premier Doug Ford early in the pandemic.

In documents filed with the Ontario Superior Court, the province alleges “some or all of” Sanjay Madan, his spouse, Shalini Madan — who have both been terminated as government computer specialists — their adult sons, Chinmaya and Ujjawal Madan, and associate Vidhan Singh perpetrated “a massive fraud” to funnel some $11 million in payments to hundreds of TD and Bank of Montreal accounts.

The Great Reset Updated: You Might Not Have Heard of NGFS, but NGFS Has a Plan for You

Here’s a December 15 headline in the New York Times that should not have been lost in the holiday whirl, nor in the general hubbub of news since: “Fed Joins Climate Network, to Applause From the Left.”

As the article details, the U.S. Federal Reserve Board, the nation’s central bank, has officially joined the Network of Central Banks and Supervisors for Greening the Financial System (NGFS). That’s “Greening,” as in “environmentalism,” “Greta Thunberg,” “Green New Deal,” and all that. And as the Times makes clear in its headline, the left is loving it.

With Keystone XL effectively dead, where does Jason Kenney go from here?

Alberta Premier Jason Kenney has spent the last number of days calling for consequences and compensation in the aftermath of U.S. President Joe Biden revoking the permit for the Keystone XL pipeline.

But Canada’s options appear limited, and are unlikely to include the introduction of sanctions, as the premier has suggested.

In an interview Saturday on CBC’s The House, Canada’s ambassador to the United States even said it was time to let the project go in favour of other pressing bilateral issues.

The fix was in.

California congressman calls for $23 minimum wage

Khanna’s proposal raises questions as to what those currently making $23/hour would do if they were able to earn just as much money for less skilled work. Economists who oppose raising the minimum wage predict that efforts to do so will only cause inflation or put existing other high paying jobs in jeopardy. Furthermore, small businesses would feel the brunt of a minimum wage hike that large corporations like Amazon and Walmart could more easily shoulder.

The film also tells children that becoming transgender is a way to be ‘happy’ while making no mention of the growing legal and medical concerns about the rising number of children saying they want to change gender.

Quebec researchers say they have found an effective drug to fight COVID-19

A team of researchers from the Montreal Heart Institute believes they have found an effective weapon against COVID-19: colchicine, an oral tablet already known and used for other diseases.

For Dr. Jean-Claude Tardif, who led the study, this is a “major scientific discovery” and colchicine is the first “effective oral drug to treat out-of-hospital patients.”

“To be able to offer this, from Quebec, and for the planet, we are very happy,” said Tardif.

The Rise of Neo-Socialism In America

You would have to be blind or a Progressive Left ideologue not to see it. It’s almost like watching a slow-motion fatal car wreck happening right before your eyes as you stand by helpless to stop it. The Progressive Left has won the federal elections, and as they say, there are political consequences for those who lose elections. They now have conservatives, former Trump officials, and political supporters squarely in their sights and are not holding back with their political vendetta. The next two years are going to be more than rough for conservatives. To that end, I offer this historical analogy and a lesson from our world history.

$15 Federal Minimum Wage: An Anchor on Struggling Businesses

President Joe Biden has proposed a nationwide $15 minimum wage as part of his so-called “American Rescue Plan.” Talk about bad timing: Raising labor prices on businesses that are struggling to stay afloat is like throwing them a load of bricks instead of a life preserver.

Biden Grants Citizenship To Everyone Who Voted For Him

Joe Biden signed an executive order this morning granting citizenship to everyone who voted for him.

Some ten million people are expected to receive citizenship through the executive order, making it the largest instance of amnesty in our nation’s history.

What Is The Carbon Tax And How Does It Work?

The Carbon Tax is a controversial policy in Canada with ardent defenders and critics. Opinions vary on the tax as some think it is required to fight climate change and others think it is just another way for the government to tax them. What really is the point of the carbon tax and how does it work?

‘A senicide’: Strategic missteps, logistical hurdles plague Ontario’s early vaccine rollout

In Ontario, the early weeks of the province’s sluggish vaccination effort have been criticized by health-care experts, including front-line workers, as being marred by strategic missteps, a decision to prioritize hospitals over long-term care homes, and a rollout that allowed non-essential workers to get a first dose of the vaccine before some nurses and doctors.

Elections Canada fines Ezra Levant $3,000 for book comparing Trudeau to Tony Soprano

I just received a priority mail letter from Justin Trudeau’s Elections Commissioner: I’ve been convicted of two counts of breaking the law and I’ve been fined a whopping $3,000 — specifically for writing a book comparing Justin Trudeau to Tony Soprano, and for the drawing on the book’s cover that compares them.

Joe Biden Claims He Wants Unity, But He Just Called Pro-Life Americans “Extreme”

“I didn’t expect much from President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris—they are embedded in the pro-abortion army—but the opening of today’s joint statement on the 48th anniversary of Roe was unnecessarily pugilistic and overtly hostile to those of us who mourn, not celebrate, a decision that has already cost the lives of over 65 million unborn babies.”

Academic Study Finds Big-Tech Elites Are In Their ‘Own Class’, Different To Rest Of Humanity

An academic study carried out by researchers in the US and Germany has concluded that big-tech elites are completely different to all other people on the planet, and can be placed in their own class.

“Our research contributes to closing a research gap in societies with rising inequalities,” note the authors of the study from two German universities and the Ralph Bunche Institute for International Studies in New York.

The research centres around analysing language used in close to 50,000 tweets and other online statements by 100 of the richest tech-elites as listed by Forbes.

Why French teachers are afraid

Why French teachers are afraid

Following the murder of Samuel Paty, many ‘foot soldiers of the Republic’ feel abandoned to extremists

Imagine being a teacher in France. You come out in a cold sweat at the prospect of telling your class about Voltaire, Rousseau or Diderot. You’re terrified one of their parents will post your details on an extremist forum. You leave your workplace after dark wondering if someone’s waiting to attack you. Shocking as it may seem to British ears, this is the reality for secondary school History teachers across the Republic.
